The Danger of the Blessing of God on Individuals and Nations

This sermon looks at God's warning to Israel when they would come into the promised land. Abundance often causes men to forget God. Luxury often leads to the effeminization of men. Materialism has polluted the faith of many. The result is that individual lives are destroyed. The result is that whole nations are destroyed. This sermon is loaded with history and Scripture.
The writings of the early church fathers pointed to luxury as the condition that led to effeminization and homosexuality in cultures.
Chrysostom said: “like a winter torrent, luxury overthrows all, there is nothing to stop its course. It is the time for war. The time for contest. And do you sit and enjoy yourself? Are you fattening yourself when about to wrestle? The adversary stands grinding his teeth and are you giving yourself to jollity and devoting yourself to the table?”
Samuel Davies said: “Let our country, let religion, liberty and property, and all be lost, yet still they have their diversions. Luxury spreads her feast and unmans her effeminate guests.”

I never made deals with God, I knew he knew my heart & that I didn't want to give up my sin so I prayed he would change that. It happens little by little at least it does for me. The sugar daddy God doesn't exist & never did. You don't change you, God changes you, that's what life is all about. Thank you Father for all your loving kindness & mercy & grace & faith & every good gift that comes down from You.
