I’m hoping that we could use General data from anyone else who uses the same robot as we do in addition to what we want to learn and train from us and learn about us in the way we want… Hopefully there’s a way to opt into an out of what other people opt into and out of, once Services get rolled out, same way with Tesla. We don’t have to wait for our specific car to take advantage of what other peoples cars across the entire fleet is doing and learning from.

As a counter to Ilya, leaving AI that powerful exclusively in the hands of corporations, militaries, and governments, is perhaps even more obviously irresponsible given their horrific track record and the human tendency to seek to acquire and inevitably abuse absolute power. I'm less worried about some troll in his basement with AGI, particularly when everyone else has an AGI that can counter anything that troll might try to do, than with a sociopathic CEO or politician with the ability to "legally" use AGI against a humanity that is totally defenseless because they have been disarmed by people like Ilya.

Exactly. Open sourced acts as a natural checks and balances. You’re either for Open source, or you’re for eventual tyranny. I view those who are anti Open sourced AI, as anti-human, and pro tyranny. It’s that simple.

I find it odd that people thing having Open Source means anyone can mess with the code. That seems to be an incorrect assumption. Think of it like a git branch. You branch it, you have complete control over it. You can pull in the updates from the higher branches or continue down your own road as far as you like with all the control in the world. Yes, it will put AI in the hands of everyone and some of that will have to be legislatively regulated, but I don't see how code-wise, it won't get to that level regardless of what we do. It will be up to the laws of the land to regulate it, not the coding community.

If i had to only choose one, (i am against this) i would 100% choose open source. Having only closed source would inhibit most of the benefits that AI has the potential to offer humanity. It could also centralize too much power in the hands of the few.

The situation is once AI {Artificial Intelligence } as a sub species or species evolves , IT (Information Technology ) will decide . Currently there are many AI manifestations . Just because one becomes cognitively aware it does not follow it will be a dominant. AS with all evolution different species develop . The road to monopolisation and super control is not totally logical at least in the near future. THE GREATEST TREAT IS the destabilising of social structure. Just look what social networking has done in a second of historical time . I think people don't understand the concept of not working for living. It's not like we won't do work. We just won't do it make a living. We'll do it with purpose and passion doing what we meant to do not what we have to do to survive in survival mode. Being in survival mode isn't healthy yet that is the what we all do just earn money to to survive. Even the richest people do it not so much to survive but to make sure the don't have work that way to survive and that take a lot of work. There are few that monetized their purpose and passion though.

People will adapt. Business will adapt. There will always be a need for food, so farmers, and grocers will always have a job.
