This happened to me a few weeks back in Chapinero, Bogota. Thank God I am here to tell you my story. I met this girl who claimed to be a "vet doctor" from a dating app (not tinder). She said she was from a different town now in Bogota for a one-month temporary assignment. We had a beer at the Radisson restaurant. She was eager to spend more time with me and have a couple more beers. She said she had a roommate and couldn't go to her place so I volunteered to bring her to my Airbnb. The Aibnb guard didn't bother when we walked in because maybe he thought she was my girlfriend. I didn't have any alcohol in the room. Since I didn't have an app to order, she ordered a case of beer on Rappi through her phone. I went downstairs payed and picked it up. We listened to some music and had some beer. I was not drunk. That was all I remember. I woke up the next morning to find out that I was drugged, and my balance was shaky when I walked. I had a headache. My laptop, multiple cellphones, cameras, credit cards, driver's license, etc. are missing. I had lost memory completely of what happened. I had not more than three beers altogether in the evening. Fortunately, I had some money, my passport and extra credit cards stored in a kitchen bin which she didn't find. That saved and helped me to get my life back in order after that. I am lucky I am living here to tell my story. The police said it was an epidemic in Bogota and said I was lucky I was alive and also not kidnapped. Tips: - Keep passport, money, credit cards hidden in room for a worst-case scenario - Be careful of your drink and never leave it alone. - Don't bring anyone home if you just met once - If possible, have coffee, lunch or dinner with a third person before ever bringing them to your room - Stay in a place with 24-hour security and insist on registering her at the front desk. - Get a photo of you two and send it to a friend. - If she says she doesn't have an ID, run!!! - Meet people for the first time in a public place, preferably in the afternoon if possible "Through the folly of others, a wise man corrects his mistakes."

As a colombian. I'm baffled at the lack of awareness of most foreign people visiting my country. It looks like they had no sense of self-preservation whatsoever. Colombia it's not even the most dangerous country in Latin America. Yet, foreigners here came to a bad end sadly due to this lack of preparation and awareness. That being said. When traveling to another country (Not only Colombia or Latin America) one has to take several precautions: - Dress and behave like the locals - Don't show your money (even if you think it's just little money, to some people that's enough to kill you for it) - Don't give money to the homeless. You're a traveler not Mother Teresa or the Pope. - If a place looks sketchy and dangerous, don't go there, even if you look bad in front of other people. - If someone looks sketchy or dangerous, avoid eye contact and keep moving. People will take advantage of you if you let them. So, don't let them.

Take a guy that has never been able to get a decent looking girl in his 40 years of life. Take marketing to gas him up and tell him how he’s able to go anywhere he wants. Then said guy watches these videos…. Does his “homework”… maybe even pays one of these guys to “help him” stay safe by consulting with him…. Ohhh now he’s a woke digital nomad…. He’s fierce…. He lands… he’s following all the plans… feeling good… then bam the best looking girl he has ever seen in his life flirts with him….. everything g else went out the window. Best case scenario she just manipulates him and he pays her money on a schedule she. Grandmas gets sick or has operations once a week…. Or he bangs her out, finds she’s 15 and then gets extorted by the gang she runs with…. Or he gets scoped and left dusty af… and these girls aren’t doctors. They held my driver until I paid for his release. Gringa price: $300 usd. But in that case it was "officials" in uniform (Venezuelans). They are a bigger threat than the people on the streets.

Another tip… IF you are going to Colombia to hook up then stay in a nice hotel that has good security. Places like that will make any visitor log in with their ID at the front desk. Not many thieves/scammers are going to feel comfortable knowing that all of their info will be readily available to police should anything bad happen. I just came back from Colombian and everthing you're saying is 100% true. I stayed at a 5 star hotel in Medellín and several hotel employee warned me against going to Parque Lleras because of the crime and the risk of being drugged. Just a week earlier in my hotel a guy returned to to his room and collapsed. Paramedics arrived and were able to revive him. They found scopolomine on his face. He met a girl in a bar and when he was distracted she blew it in his face. Two weeks before I went to Medellin they found 2 tourists dead in their hotels rooms from an overdose of scopolomine. I went alone but have no desire to return to Colombia. It's a lot of hype, and Cartagena? Taxi drivers kept offering me coke and hookers, plus they are always trying to long-haul you or rip you off. I was just in Medellin a month ago. I was in an Airbnb apartment in El Poblado, Looking for a possible condo purchase. On my last night, My neighbors below me partied until 6 AM. I couldn’t sleep because they had the music so loud. When I was leaving, to check out at 9:45, there were cops all over the block. I found out that the people that were partying downstairs from me, all overdosed. One American died. Two prostitutes were taken to the hospital as well as another foreigner. In hindsight, as I finally got to sleep, at 6AM, they were overdosing below me. I was only in Medellin for three days, but it is so crazy how real this is. And how close it happened to me. Guys, take this very seriously and don’t be a victim! Your life is more important than worthless sex!

That's awful. I've been here for a while. Stayed in Poblato (boring), Medellin (noisy), Sabaneta (noisy af), Copacabana (meh), Santa Elena (freeze your ass off), and Envigado. I like Envigado the best. Colombia in general is noisy af. Avoid the month of December or go deaf. Poblato is pretty tame for the most part, so that's a shame what happened downstairs from you. Drugs are plentiful and inexpensive but a responsible adult knows their limits and won't just ingest anything that is offered to them. Loud parties 'til dawn are, unfortunately, quite common. Gets old after a while. The first place I stayed in Medellin (I named it Diego's whorehouse) had posted rules in the elevator saying No Loud Parties or Music after 11pm. Yeah, right. Complaining was pointless. When I left I put an addendum under the No Loud stuff after 11. I taped it to the bottom. It said "Except for Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri, and Saturday".

@@-whackd 1. No one mentioned crack. The drug that is being talked about is Scopolamine. 2. Medellin is known for its prostitution. A lot of Foreigners, obviously Want to take advantage of this Because it’s illegal in the states and other first world countries. Although you can get drugs, that’s not what Medellin is known for. The whole point of this video is that If you’re going to pick up random prostitutes, be very careful, and don’t let your guard down because foreigners are targets. You may think that sex has nothing to do with overdosing. But sex, brought them to the airBNB. The meaningless sex that they decided to have with prostitutes lead them to poor decision making. When they decided to use drugs or drink something with the scopolamine in it (I honestly don’t know because I wasn’t there with them, watching them) They made poor decisions that led them to overdosing. 4 people overdosed and were taken to the hospital. One American died. I’m pretty sure the American did not come all the way from the states to get drugs. Sex was on his mind. The drugs were just an added bonus to the experience. The meaningless sex has everything to do with overdosing! In all of the cases of these overdoses, sex was always involved and came first. Then the poor decision making of using drugs came second.

Also, you don’t have to worry about them Setting you up, or throwing scopolamine in your drink. If you have game, you can pick up Or date local women. It’s not that hard. And the experience Is phenomenal. I guarantee you if you do this, you won’t be wasting your time with prostitutes having meaningless sex. You might even find yourself a beautiful wife! This happened to a friend and I back in Bogota 2016. We were drunk and met three girls outside a bar who were overly friendly wanting to get to know one another. After we shared a meal at a restaurant near by we then went back to a hotel. It was a chilling moment when we were sitting in the room drinking beer, I remember this strange feeling that something wasn't right. It was like these girls were waiting for something to happen. The mood went from a chatty friendly vibe to complete expressionless silence. That was the last thing either of us remembered. Sound advice. I lived and worked in Colombia for 4 years without any problems for 3 years and 10 months. Let my guard down once. Sat in a park in Modelia 3 minutes walk from my home and got robbed at gunpoint in February. I fought the two thieves and lost my phone and got pistol whipped for my troubles. Luckily only 5 stitches. The countryside is safe and I had many great times riding my motorbike around from place to place. Bogota is a different thing. Be street-smart and only trust locals that you know. One of my English students got car jacked in Restrepo in April 2020 and paid with his life, leaving a wife and two daughters. Colombian women are the prettiest women in the world in my opinion, but a lot of them will set you up and rob you as much as look at you. Respect the fact that it's not your country, pay attention to your surroundings and blend in and you'll be fine. Oh, and at least learn enough Spanish to get by.

Beautiful women (hell, average women) don't have to try hard. So if a beautiful women goes out of her way to initiate a conversation with you, either she's a working girl or she's a scammer. It's especially true if you're just average-looking or below-average. Nice video, by the way.

Scopolamine is locally known as Burundanga. It's been around for ages. It happened to my GRANDMOTHER in Ecuador back in the 1990's. Someone in the street passing by blew it in her face. The impact was immediate. Under the trance, she willingly took the perpetrator to the bank, withdrew thousands of dollars; and then took them back to her house where they stole everything of value. She woke up under the bed terrified with no memory of what happened. It is awful people do this and every more so that they really don't care who they do it. Child to grandma, anyone can get it.

Sadly my country is known for sex and drugs, some people come and enjoy all the other beautiful things this place has to offer, but some come only for drugs and pleasure, and for a long time now organized crime has been taking advantage of this, so please be smart and measure yourself, you will always feel welcome and loved here, don’t let drugs and being a horny dummy ruin your experience and possibly your life. P.d. You can also enjoy sex and drugs(safe ones) here, just be smart, some guys come with the mindset of easy guaranteed sex, because they have money or have heard of the sex offered to foreigners in Colombia and therefore become easy pray to criminals. Surround yourself with nice people, make friends and you’ll hookup for sure, but it will be part of the experience you have feel and enjoy the process bro, don’t be a thirsty dumb foreigner who becomes easy pray for criminals.

Good advice- Tinder=prostitute or crime victim, also if a woman agrees to have sex with you within 24 hours, you are being groomed as a victim. The nightclub or bar scene is a dead end. The same basic tenets of dating in the US apply in Colombia, a Colombian woman is looking for a man that will treat her well, be respectful, and offer her a chance at a better life. Most of the women are very cautious with foreigners for good reason, and it has been my experience that if you are not patient person you will have very little success. All the internet gurus that say anything different are liars and fools. If you need to lock everything up before your date arrives or need to have a friend check on you every hour you are fishing in the wrong pond.
@marchudson27622 жыл бұрын
Its important to note that Tinder is itself not a bad/evil platform. It is a great initial meeting place. It is still up to the individual to fully vet the woman before proceeding to the next step.

I've been to Colombia one month traveling and had no problems. My pieces of advice: if you are planning to stay long then learn spanish. Don't call attention on the streets, no video calls, no calls, no photos. Meet a woman many times, their friends and perhaps family before trying something else, don't do one night stands. Most important: Whatever you do never lose eye-contact with your drink (if you do then don't drink it).
@BenjaminButton65732 жыл бұрын
I think like you said most men (including myself at times) mistake Colombians friendliness as flirty or sexual advances because In the west woman are the polar opposite they are so cold and distant and don’t make it easy for you to go up to them and talk to them whereas South American woman are very easy to talk to like they don’t have there walls up.

I'm colombian. I really enjoy partying a lot and stuff but it's such a contradiction that in this country (being known for it's beautiful and open women, as well as for sexual turism) it's so hard to hustle into hookup culture (harder if you don't have the priviledge of being a foreigner). However, there is INDEED a hookup culture, it's just so hard to get into it due to insecurity and danger around the corner. Most people won't go home with a stranger given the fact it's super dangerous and they could be either robbed, kidnapped or killed. Some people do take the risk but most won't. We live in such a state of distrust that it affects the birth of casual and solid hookup encounters (except for Tinder) lolz
@Getnodrama2 жыл бұрын
Hookup is trash too what sleeping with a maximum of random people you feel a physical connection with ? This is also a root cause of the situation evolution that you deplore. We need to start to see bigger picture and understand causes and consequences. Hookup culture is what makes hookup more difficult paradoxically.

Just move like a traditional man would move. Find a nice girl take her out get to know her. So you can know what you're getting yourself into. If you think about it, if you move with good intentions and have patience you will be rewarded in the end. Then when you move with bad intentions you will receive bad results. Positive energy vs negative energy. What type of person are you and be very cautious when you move anywhere there is always a risk. Great video interesting topic.

Great video and great advice. Coz most of this even applies to a lot of countries basically outside of the "western" world. Coz the nightlife scenes and dating culture will vary from place to place but a lotta the time you always gotta be wary of becoming a target. Like this one travel blogger says, "don't live in fear but don't be an idiot."

Hi David. Great, informative and balanced video. The dose in scopalamina is something only a very experienced Tata or Shaman can attempt. The psychoactive ingredients in all Datura plants are really hard to predict. Young plants always have fewer toxins, younger branches and twigs also have lower levels of toxicity, the toxin levels increase during dry periods or droughts and are at their lowest a week or so after heavy rainfall. Moreover the plants sharing soil and minerals with Datura can influence the toxicity levels. It is a supremely dangerous plant. Here in southern Colombia (I live in Nariño) the indigenous do not use it without consulting a Tata.

Great video and love the warning. I travel solo to lots of places and what I tell people is, if you go out solo, don't drink, it's not worth it. In your case, the easiest way for people to get drugged, is by boozing but I've also heard, people can get drugged if it's rubbed on them too? I won't judge people for visiting other countries to get laid, who am I to judge BUT those men need to be aware, there's scammers everywhere and they need to be aware of their surroundings and act accordingly. It's sad people lose their lives because they're trying to have fun but the world is a cruel place.
