Everlast Mx horsehair gloves are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn they fit very well and are easy to make a fist in and I like the lack of padding on the knuckles you really feel where you place your shots and you can press the horse hair down towards the wrist guard to make them better for blocking and catching shots plus they make lacerations and facial injuries even more likely which is a plus in pro boxing if you have strong conditioned hands and wrists and aren’t prone to injury I’d recommend those

Zurdo actually wore Rival HDE-F model, so the foam one. But as you said this gives have some hard EVA foam as the outside layer and this EVA tends to have like a "sharp" edge under the leather. In my opinion that can cause cuts in the fight. I agree that the BBBofC approved gloves list is massive and it should be revised. With the money they earn, they should be able to put on proper test gloves they're approving

Doesn't the money they earn have to do with the number they approve?

Absolutely awesome video 👍🏼 I do kickboxing, teach boxing and most shows never check the gloves. The referee might do a quick check to see if padding is there and that’s it. But they never go into the level of detail that should be there, whether or not it’s a horse hair glove and so on. It’s not just a problem in fights, but it’s an issue in gyms as well. Now I will refuse to spar people as much as I can who are wearing Cleto Reyes, Everlast MX gloves and another one which isn’t as bad as them but I try to keep my defense the best it can, would be Fly gloves! Not fair when I like wearing a padded glove like Twins or Winning for example. Pro AM gloves seem good, I will definitely check them out

it makes you wonder why these gloves get approved

Usually money talks, I do know from experience with IBA in amateur boxing, once you are approved, you are open to officials asking for bribes, so your gloves and headgear are used in tournaments, with the pro side, its probably another way to make money for the board, the more brands approved the more revenue and also the lack of an experienced person in control. And then you have some of the larger companies muscling their way into approval by sponsoring the larger promotional teams

This year, as a heavyweight, I've been wearing the Rival RS100 Lace-ups in 18 oz for bag work, and the Phenom SG-210 Velcro Gloves for Sparring, coming from Everlast Foam Gloves & Cleto Reyes Foam gloves, I heavily prefer the Rivals for all around training, and my Phenoms specifically for sparring now. I don't think I could EVER switch to horse hair at this point.

As a boxer look after your hands if you want to make a career from the sport, same with choosing a good headguard. You will have seen what I think of the Rival rs100, nice protective glove, but expensive for a synthetic made glove and cloth palm, the Phenom are not a bad glove compared to many others, not too expensive, I was told they started off making Rival and copied much of their ideas originally, not sure though. I do know both Rival gloves and Phenom fight gloves are rated below ours, this is what experience brings to the game though

Pretty sure horse hair is just good for cutting the face up. Other wise I can’t understand why you want more knuckle contact through glove.

unfortunately, pro boxing is more entertainment than sport, TV companies and some promoters prefer selling tickets by pushing knockouts and cuts, the more blood the better, 2 skillful boxers going 12 rounds without knock downs or cuts looks better on TV and may be boring to watch by casual fans. This why you don't see as much in the Olympics or amateurs these days and probably why senior elite level boxers no longer wear headguards
