This is what my mom realized after discovering my sister (12yo) talking to strangers on her phone and sending pictures of her and our house. You can’t put much trust to a child and, of course, a child shouldn’t be so “free” to do whatever they want or make important choices. I wasn’t taught like that. With me they were very strict and protective, so I grew up well. With my sister, they thought they could give her more freedom. The result, her talking to strangers and giving all her private information to them. I didn’t even agreed when they told me they would give her a phone when she was less than 10yo. For those saying it was wrong of the parents to yell at their kids after they failed this test, they have every right to. They need to know how serious this is, and if I were them and I talked to them, showed them videos on how scary this is the reason why kids go missing every year, yeah that’s something I would be yelling about. It’s not just them being clueless, it’s them disobeying their parents on their warnings. Like what the last mom said to her daughter with hurt, sadness and disappointment in her voice: “Against everything I taught you, YOU SHOWED UP 😢.” That’s what all these kids did: they went against everything their parents told them NOT TO DO and did the wrong thing. But the emphasis was also how much they love their children and they want them to do the right thing, to KNOW to do the right thing when they’re not there. This is not to embarrass the kids…it’s to show them how dangerous this is and it should not be taken lightly.
