There’s no type of stereotype black person. My grandfather is a black man who didn’t talk black. He was well mannered and well brought up and spoke with an accent. Being white and being black there is no difference and those who see there is a difference needs to be educated because Times of changed. It’s not them and us it’s we!

Yes, it is going to make some very uncomfortable and face how they have been acting. The things that has been happening in the U.S. and England (Harry and Megan) I believe is what led to this storyline. As a woman of colour, there’s always been times when I’ve been unsure whether a person is being racist to me or not just because it’s always been quite subtle whereas in the media it’s always depicted as something really obvious and in your face. It’s the subtle things like how people will treat u over a certain incident compared to if a similar situation happened to a white person. I’ve always been grown up in a pretty much white community, so I’ve always been unsure/uncomfortable talking about racism when it seems like such a subtle thing that can be dismissed so easily.

Well said. Very glad Hollyoaks did this storyline. People think unless you are yelling slurs, or being overtly racist, that means you have nothing to improve on. We can all do better on not making snap judgements and consider why we think a certain way about certain people. We also need to LISTEN to other people's stories. Some of the reactions on here are quick to dismiss this story when it is based on MANY black women's experiences with healthcare.

When I first watched this , I was blown away at how well written this was . Almost brought me to tears as a young black woman. “I can’t compete with the story you’ve created in your head” such a powerful like. I’m happy this was specific to black women - because that “strong black women” trope is so dehumanising. We are allowed to feel vulnerable and be protected.

The subject of "aggression", in particular is a struggle that is also felt by black men too, myself included. A number of white people I've come across expect me to be calm, happy and content, but once I stand up for yourself or call something out that is not right, they either play the victim, get scared/offended and tell me to stop being so 'aggressive'. I'm so glad that Hollyoaks had the balls to call this out.

THANK YOU! I’m sorry, I’m not racist and I think it’s disgusting. But I don’t get how anyone could experience this and think “oh yeah, that’s racism”. No. It couldn’t just be the interviewer didn’t like her answer, or didn’t overly like her. Grace was crying so Perri felt more sorry for her than Martine who wasn’t , she had to choose one of them and she picked. Maybe perri shouldn’t have turned martine away but that was a professional issue, and nothing to do with race. And I can’t hold this opinion without someone interrupting and telling me how it’s my “white privilege”. The same with this whole ordeal at the moment about women and men. We are literally being taught to fear every man, blaming them all for a couple of men. Yet nobody ever mentions the women who hurt or kill or rape. “Not all men but enough to make a difference”. Yet that is the same for women. Honestly, we are just becoming a society of moaners. Blaming people for things that aren’t their fault. Calling them racist for taking a certain view, sexist for standing up for equality. Why we can’t all just be totally equally and stop blaming each other is beyond me

That’s not quite what they are doing. They are talking about us challenging our subconscious bias, many people like Peris character in this don’t think “why did I make that decision” or “why did one persons actions seem aggressive to me when another’s didn’t” after the right wing grooming story we know open discrimination and racism is not what she’s about. But this story and using a character we know not to be our picture of a racist is important because it makes us all think of our own behaviour instead of finding ourselves not guilty all the time or defensive. This episode is highlighting unconscious bias and for this particular character on the show this is her experience.... Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs about various social and identity groups, and these biases stem from one's tendency to organize social worlds by categorizing. So yes it can have an impact on other people but for the purpose of this storyline it is being told through the characters experience.

No she wasn’t. She simply didn’t understand why Grace got seen first, peri double booked the appointment and martine arrived first. Grace only got seen because she was upset. Martine has a lump as well, might have cancer as well and is just as scared as grace is, that’s not aggressive.

Also this acting is by the kamala Harris looking women is pathetic I couldn’t stop laughing when she was reading her diary 😂😂

For crying out loud Peri you should’ve helped Martine first not going around 🎵”Falling”🎵 (Harry Styles: Falling 😉😉😉😉) for Grace’s tears of crying. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Martine had every right to stand up for herself and if I didn’t know any better I’d say that interviewer might have a thing for Grace Black. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And if you’re thinking that I’m wanting everyone in the village to be Bisexual, Gay or Lesbian. 🤨🤨🤨🤨 Think again! 😠😠😠😠😡😡😡😡🤯🤯🤯🤯 (I’ve always wanted to say that “Think again part” 🤣🤣🤣🤣!) And every time I hear about racism in the village I’m always saying “And I thought Black Slavery was over. 😠😠😠😠😡😡😡😡🤯🤯🤯🤯 Looks like I was wrong. 😔😔😔😔” I hope Martine’s lump won’t be cancerous or anything and I hope #Melix will get back together and be a Familia. 😟😟😟😟🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 What do you People think???? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

@@nicolew4513 Exactly. Nobody doesn't care I agree. I don't care if someone comments first, second or third because it's not a race or competition. It's not a big deal to be honest! 👍
