Vey informative video! I always enjoy your videos Yannie! I feel so bad because I just got my locs retwisted today and my stylist used a comb on my new growth (I didn't see this video until afterwards). I felt uneasy while she was doing it, but didn't say anything. My locs are growing healthy, but in order to keep them growing healthy, I am reexamining many methods. Thanks for sharing Queen! I maybe booking a September appointment with you! Lol

OMG!! YES!! I LOVE YOU 😊!! I discovered your channel today, and I've been on a marathon almost all day. "It is locs, it's supposed to be disrespectful" lol. That statement made my day. I love my fuzzies and I wouldn't change it for anything, your channel gave me the boost I needed, as I started feeling "odd" because everyone seemed to be about high maintenance with their locs. I've been natural all my life and I hated combing it because I'm very tender headed. I got locs because it's low maintenance and the most natural hair could ever get. I love your work, and your personality. Hope you have a good night 😊!

I don’t plan to use any combs when caring for my locs. That has been the most confusing thing I have seen when watching loc videos on YT with some using combs and redefining their parts perfectly. I don’t get it, like that’s not what traditional locs look like or my concept of what locs look like. They are meant to be wild, free, and untamed, just like your spirit. Thank you for these educational videos!

My locs aren't thin from damage just the texture and density of my hair is thin naturally. The only representation of healthy locs on social media is the people with the dense hair, so just asking for love, tips and examples love your videos (your disclaimers are funny but people are just so ignorant sad you have to even say it) anyway I feel you are one of the few that promote the real deal to healthy locs and I appreciate it every time you put up a new video I am excited! Thank you!

Good information! My first set of locs was a learning experience. I had them for 3 years. I was obsessed the first year or 2 about neatness. It did start to thin and I ended up cutting my hair because I didn't want it to get worse. I'm looking to start a second set hence my quest for info. thanks!

OMG! iI wish I had known about your work 5 years ago. My beautiful locs were down to my low back and cut my locs out after growing for 12 years. My hair started thinning and my locs were so thin at the scalp that they would fall out like a bad weave! It was heavy and I started to get neck pains. I cut them down when I noticed balding from my back to my shoulders thinking the weight was pulling my hair out, it was the comb, I had been going to a loc stylist for years she used combs and retwisted so tight that my eyes wouldn't open for a week! I gave up and took them out and still regret it to this day. I did save some of the locs and want to start a healthy grow back of my locs. Thank you so much for the education.

What dates will you be in Atlanta? That's where I am an need to see you asap. I started my locs in December 2015. I retwisted them in March and haven't touched them since. I've never had anyone do it. I've been doing it myself. I hate doing it... it takes up too much of my time. I am terrified to let anyone touch it because I don't want it to be "perfect"!! And you just confirmed everything i knew in my spirit to be true. So yes. I need you... Now!!! And my family because I'm tired of doing their hair too. Lol!!

any advice for Caucasian /straight dry hair. my dreads are staying but I find myself stopping myself from back combing it constantly. I wash once a week due to oil. I use a all natural shampoo. I also use coconut oil a day prior to washing for itchy scalp

@rayningtigress 6 жыл бұрын
Cheyenne brownie I also have straight hair something that helped me was I put lil bit of salt in my oil water mister. And its help with my locking process. The only reason why I think its ok is because it gives our locks texture, but when you do a loc bath all that salt gets dissolved and comes out. You really want to tread lightly on using products. My oil spray has a teaspoon of salt jojoba oil and a couple different essential oil with water. I change out my essential oils based on what I need. Started locs I use peppermint and rosemary Helps with the itchy and the dandruff.

I am a Nazarite. Numbers 6:5 only mentions a razor and not a comb. However I don't find the reason to use one with locs.
@CompletelyRandomlyBroken
@CompletelyRandomlyBroken 6 жыл бұрын
Kelinia Johnson "A nazirite can groom his hair with his hand or scratch his head and needn’t be concerned if some hair falls out. However a nazirite cannot comb his hair since it is a near certainty to pull out some hair. A nazirite is not allowed to use a chemical depilatory that will remove hair.[19] A nazirite that recovers from Tzaraath, a skin disease described in Leviticus 14, is obligated to cut his hair despite being a nazirite." This might be what she ment when she said that... not sure though. But since you are a Nazarite you probably know much more about then I do.

Hi Yannie, I love your videos. I wear sister locks for 3 years now. My consultant uses a tool to interlock my hair. Does it mean that my hair will start thinning because of the constant manipulation? I'm worried.
@deshara7816
@deshara7816 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not yannie but it's hard to tell when someone else maintains your hair if their technique is right. if the interlocking method isn't done PRECISELY the tool can break your hair at the root and cause thinning. Best advice I can give (I'm sure yannie would agree) that Low Manipulation is the key! allow your hair to grow out and maybe try a gentle palm roll in between interlocking. To avoid breakage let you new growth be, frizz and Locs are one in the same. better to have a lil frizz than thinning Locs!!! 💜

I don't think she meant it in a negative way. She grew up Rasta. We all do that kind of comparison: different cultures have a way of doing things. There's nothing wrong with that. If she was saying, you guys are idiots, doing it wrong, yes, throwing shade. She makes sure to say "We don't do it this way, but if you like it and works for you, go ahead" or along those lines.
