I would pay to watch this level of tennis live. Too bad the clubs are not equiped for spectators in France.

Good to see an actual man playing with a proper one handed backhand not a sloppy restricted 2 hand meant for children and women! Good job Holmgren.

@ your response suggests an ignorant young man. For your edification: this was expected throughout history until the 70’s 2 hands inherently limits biomechanics and is not as efficient (though one can argue other advantages). Sure a handful of men used 2 hands from frail and small segura to weirdo drysdale (who also wore a glove). It wasn’t until weak and frail Jimmy Connors and then Bjorn Borg came along that it became acceptable and popular among men. Many coaches including prominent usta coaches railed against it but also faced the problem of it being far easier for their junior prodigies to use at single digit ages. Weaning them off it became difficult (Sampras and edberg were 2 who did) once the cookie cutter players out of academies became the norm it was all over - pioneered by bollettieri. The same way people think a 15 oz racquet is impossible and wonder who could use it, answer: every man who used to play and half the women. Learn to do it to well to unleash full leverage and look a real man , who’s backhand is natural and pathetically pleasing to even armchair couch potatoes.

@@datacipher come on man. I am 5 foot 9 and playing 6' 4" guys on surfaces where every rally ball above the shoulders, going to two hands is just so I can compete, not because I am "frail." And sometimes I play one handed shots on certain balls as well. Practical hybrid style. Also, plenty of beautiful two handers with great biomechanics as there are one handers. Nalbandian, Monfils to name two.

@ my god. Going to 2 hands RESTRICTS power and reach ESPECIALLY on high balls. The only thing that holds back one handlers on high balls is stength - again… “frail”. You really are going to argue that when you could look at shorty wawrinka, or if you need somebody shorter look at the incredibly powerful backhand of Olivier Delaitrw who is far shorter than his claimed height. I’ve stood next to him, he’s 5’7 at BEST. Or.. hicham arazi, or guillaume raoux, or Johan kriek, or the absolute greatest of all time for goodness sakes rod laver (he won TWO grand slams), or the extreme power and spin of Alberto Mancini, or Thomas muster, or Gaston audio (French open champion)… I could go on and on… I men’s for heavens sake, women can play it. Sabatini? Justine henin??? One of my world clsss juniors was her practice partner for a week… she’s around 5’6. Is she too short for her feared and dominant one handed? Conchita Martinez… It’s sad that many young people have been fed bs like this. Not your fault, but it’s sad. Go watch the one handlers of some of these people. You will be surprised.

@ gaudio (your height ) against a 2 handed you cited. Note also there may be language barrier problems here. I did not say no 2 handed have bad biomechanics. Virtually every 2 handed on the tour has good to excellent biomechanics. That is not to be conflated with: no biomechanical limitations. Nor can it be confused for aesthetically pleasing - funny you mention nalbandian and monfils who have unpleasant looking backhands visually - though that’s partly due to their weird body shapes. Monfils is gawky, spindly and looks a bit spastic with all his shots, nalbandian is the opposite with his fat ukranian grandma tank body.. he looks squat and cramped on his backhand. Neither of which is to say they don’t have excellent backhands in function or have bad biomechanics. It just isn’t very pleasing to watch. Better the two id choose nalbandian as more visually pleasing due to his measured simplicity, but it’s hardly the stuff of dreams. Had I to pick the best 2 handers visually I’d pick Agassi but none can compare to the longer lever and free swinging beauty of a good one hander. Nor will they reach the same power potential - though of course a pro can hit it very hard. But always at very very best it’s a forehand with a 22 inch racquet. A racquet for the smallest children. Power will always be limited by that alone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKaViWh8lLebptUsi=g4tvHjfpa51qRHgD
