Especially because the process now, at least where I'm from in the Netherlands, is very lengthy. Everything is thought out and there are many psychological evaluations for transgenders. The doctor knows he should say no but he knows she will likely try to end her own life anyway.. Its like she has them both in a trance... Maybe all three of them want it her pain to end and the silently subconsciously make this agreement
@hearttmuse5 жыл бұрын
I mean it's not that sad.. Lili wanted to become more of herself. I mean that was the whole point of this movie. It's not like she didn't care how Gerda felt, she truly cared if she left or not, she was just heavily conflicted and since no one can help her mentally, other than Gerda but sometimes even she makes Lili feel down, so she experiments. Does that make the cheating and the suffering the wife went through ok? No. But that doesn't mean Lili was just some inconsiderate cheater.

@@hearttmuse it sorta does! She could’ve told gerda even if she wasn’t ready to face the fact that her husband was gone & wanted to have a husband of her own. not at all. of course Gerda is mourning the loss of her husband, but the entire movie is about the fact that she loved Lili so much that she supported her through everything. you shouldn’t blame Lili for transitioning. that’s really misplaced. Gerda didn’t. she loved Lili and wanted her to be who she really was. the story of the film is actually more about Gerda’s journey than Lili’s. Greda is the true hero. The actor played Lilly like he truly was transforming. Is it just me or now when she accepts herself as Lilly his smile and the way how he talks to Greda change after they have an argument. A woman become stubborn when she knows she is right. Unlike a man , he portrays how two women were having a conversation. Or M I overthinking.

Why I am so feeling that Eddie deserves an oscar more than Alicia, I mean both are deserving, but eddie just brought two different characters in one movie and I didn’t actually feel that Lili and Enar is one person. So when Lili appears in a scene I forget the real Enar was.

She even had to drop the role because of the backlash she was receiving smh Why are people so fuckin sensitive these days? If Scarlett wants to play a trans man, then she should! She’s an actress, and it’s literally her *job* to play other people
@nirestrunk49234 жыл бұрын
2 Things about this. 1. I believe the story Scarlet was playing is about a post-transition person whereas this movie was about the transition. 2. When a minority group is upset about how they're being portrayed and represented, people who are not in that group (and don't understand the behind the scenes issues, troubles, and prejiduce) should listen to them and respect their views as human beings. Extra example: Would the cisgender populace be comfortable with a transperson playing the role of a cisgender person? I really do doubt it.

the one thing that i dont like about this film is how they portraid transwomen/transpeople as where it is a 2nd person inside of them. Thats not true. Other than that its a beautiful film

Camden Lane it’s how the real Einer felt it

Camden Lane It kinda is like that. There’s two people. Your former gender and the other. People who are Transgender cope with those two genders. They struggle. So it’s kinda exactly like that.

That’s how Einar saw it. Or at least that’s the only way he knew how to express how he felt.

“Maybe a child one day... like a real woman”... did he truly think he would bear a child after the surgery? I haven’t seen the movie so I don’t know the ins and outs.
