I'm so happy, Eddie has become so well spoken on trans issues and I've never heard a mainstream (presumably) cis actor talk about trans people properly and without transphobic and/or cissexist undertones!! I'm so overwhelmed at how good the way he speaks is and the depths to which he has been educated on it all. It's still not as good as if a trans woman had been cast as Lili, but this is so good and I'm glad there are now mainstream well known celebrities who can and hopefully will go on to educate and call people out on transphobia, whether that be involuntary or actively aggressive offences. To Alicia though; yes it can be somewhat tough for those close to a transitioning trans person but honestly they just have to suck it up. They feel about 0.01% of the stress that the trans person feels and it's ridiculous to try to say otherwise. Promoting and validating that kind of thinking encourages so many poisonous and abusive situations for trans people.

dog pup it's great how he actually talked to many trans people to understand the issue better. In another interview he said that after talking to them, he learned that most trans people felt they were a different gender since they were a child. Eddie then suggested to the director to insert scenes that suggest Lili already felt she was a women before posing for the painting.

Terrific and satisfying interview! So refreshing after the mainstream nonsense. Eddie Redmayne is such a gentle man. He and Alicia Vikander were superb! Two actors I will certainly follow from here on.

I first heard of Eddie Redmayne in an interview I read five years ago. I immediately fell in love with him and his charisma even if I'd never watched a film with him. Then I saw Les Miserables and I was sure that he is going to be an outstanding actor one day who is appreciated by a lot of people. Since the interview I read when I was a child, he is in fact my favorite actor and just look at him and what he has already reached at such a young age.

I simply love how much support this is getting and god that 1 hater who thumbs down, why? I think this movie will be a classic, and will help making a statement that it's okay to be trans. I'm so glad that this role has opened his eyes about trans issues! Listening to him talk about his understanding of gender vs sex was so good ;__; I hope other people will learn more about trans issues after watching this movie too! (still waiting for non-binary trans people to appear in movies ;w; We need to be known too!)
