You are right about how someone with ASD can just walk away, after my ex husband ran off with someone else I said to him if you leave I will never take you back, eventually that relationship ended and he was asking me back but in my mind I don’t believe people change, I took our children basically full custody a baby and toddler at the time brought a house very lucky considering the prices now I believe a stable environment is very important, I worked in childcare for over 15 years so I would set up little activities for them coloured pasta pictures home made eatable paint etc, they are both teenagers now both ND one works and is getting ready for uni the other still in school and I’m diagnosed ASD, I never put another man before my children and never would so its just me and them, I understand some people with ASD might struggle with certain elements of parenting but definitely not all.

I love this! Setting up activities for your children, not putting a man before them. You're lucky you got full custody as well. For many, shared custody becomes a battlefield and a reason why some people stay in unhappy or unsafe situations.

@ yes well he is a FIFO and he would put his time off drinking and hanging with mates before his children, less disruptions I suppose, but yeah my children become and still are my whole world even now that they are teenagers 😬
