In St Denis, instead of having to save everytime to load new horses all you have to do is ride North to the bridge and turn around. This will load in New horses everytime you ride to the bridge and turn around.

Yo, for those who don’t have version 1.00 In the mission “horse flesh for dinner” or something like that, you have to rob 3 horses- a white Arabian, a black Arabian, and the dark bay turkoman. Do the mission as usual all the way until the end-when the game prompts you to talk to Clide or whatever his name is, instead, walk up to whatever horse you want, and feed it till it reaches bond level one (and then some if you wanna be safe). Once that’s taken care of, and the mission is over, you should wake up in your camp, and the horse will be further away in the map next to the horse fence. Ride over, and stable your chosen horse to make it yours. Hope this helps Edit: Level one isn’t enough, you have to feed it until the temporary horse logo shows up on the mini map. It took me about 40 bales of hay to get it to that point, so I’d suggest having the legend of the East satchel on hand And once you stable the horse, save and reload the game to get rid of the braithewaite brand

There is still a way to get free horses from stables. Grab a small wagon and drive it into the stable you want to get the horse from, then take out your weapon and shoot inside the stable or shoot an NPC outside the stable to get a witness. Then once you have a witness get off the wagon and go to the horse in the stable that you want to keep. Then when you are near the horse feed the horse and it will become tamed and will follow you if you whistle for it outside the stable. Then after you have the horse you can bring it into any stable and saddle it up to make it your primary horse. Sorry if this is to long but i hope it helps, this is not patched btw.

I know I'm a year late, but there's another way to get it, I think people have known about this for a while, basically in the mission 'horse flesh for dinner' before you go to clive, near the end of the mission feed the turkoman with as much food as you can, until the bonding level 1 comes up. then feed it some more to make sure it shows up on the map. then finish the mission and after it, go to the temporary horse icon, and bring your new turkoman to the stables, enjoy! :)

In my experience, the best horses when it comes to not getting spooked, are the Andalusian and the Ardennes. Makes sense, because they are dedicated war horses. My Turkoman (fully bonded) bucked me off multiple times, especially in alligator areas. But yeah, all in all, my silver Turkoman is my go-to horse, because stats are great and it doesn't look as whacky as the Arabians.

I kinda noticed it myself but after having the white and black Arabian for so long I thought it was the same for every horse. Pro tip: I would highly recommend not saving and exiting, and just taking your horse down to the red barn and turning around. Reason is because you'll level up a new horses bonding quickly while it spawns new horses so if it takes 30 mins to find what you want, you've rose your horse and bonded the entire time instead of wasting it on load times. When 5pm hits just head to camp and back the next day. By doing this I leveled up 3 new horses I stole from here while looking for specific breeds or coats and it was faster then loading. I have done it nonstop all week it 100% works by just going down the street. Edit: it was patched a long time ago. The Turkoman can still be acquired very early but it's from the Ch 3 mission that opens the Horse fence in Rhodes

I've done this spot multiple times. Only works in the daytime and in perfect sunny weather. It will also stop spawning newer horses after a bit of exiting back into the title screen so you'll want to re-save. Also for some reason if the temperature is over 90 degrees there are no horses so make sure the temp is in the 70's and low 80s. Be careful as there is a ranch hand that puts the hay near the horses and sometimes there is a bystander loitering around there. If you take the horses it is considered a crime and those two fellas, if they are around, will run and tell a lawman so you'll want to tackle them and threaten them or get the hell out of dodge. I have managed to spawn a Gold Dapple Turkoman, which is a regular Gold Turkoman with a bit of black splotch on its rump and upper back, as well as the blue-white foxtrotter. Still trying to nab the tiger-stripe mustang and if I do get that it'll be my main horse.

You don't have to steal the horses, just pat the horse until you have Bonding level 1 so it is your temporary horse. Then get up on your main horse and whistle so the other horse is following you and ride outside of the town. Now you can make the other horse your main horse. With this method you commit no crime.

Folks, this glitch can be a little tricky. Only works in daytime, works better to restart than anything else just like Tag shows in the vids. As shown here is the only "reliable" way I've gotten it to work as well. So far I have gotten two gold Turks, one Silver Turk, Bay Andelusian, Pie Bald Halfbred or whatever don't recall what that one is for sure, Dark Seal Warmblood, Missouri Fox Trotter and the Grey Rose Arabian....which got freaking killed by a train before I saved it because I was being freaking stupid and looking at it in the sunlight on a train track...lol, point is this works great if you do it right. It kind of works part of the time doing it other ways. Only annoying thing left now is I can only have four horses total, five if you cheat and carry a bonded horse follower with you everywhere. I have kept the Silver Turkoman, Black American Standardbred, Missouri Foxtrotter, Bay Andelusian and looking to recover the Grey Arabian again for the fifth. I may pass the Grey Arabian for this Dark Bay Turk. I'd like a better colored Foxtrotter as well to replace the one I got...not sure what colors they come in. I am a big fan of the American Standardbreds in this game, the buckskin and black versions are beautiful and fit my ideal breed standards for what a well rounded horse should look like and how they should handle and act.

WillPM Don’t worry, that’s how it’s supposed to be. You can only have three horses in a stable and the fourth one will not be able to be to be stabled because it’s full. Also from my experience I was able to find an actual named horse “Neil ll.” Although it’s stats where terrible and it’s coat didn’t seem rare. In addition I wasn’t sure if I will be able to stable it. Because it is a named horse and it is apart of your gang.

Sadly Rockstar had to ruin the fun and patched this glitch but you can still get the Dark Bay Turkoman as early as Chapter 3 during the mission Horse Flesh For Dinner all you have to do to get this horse is right before you talk to the guys at Clemens Cove go up to the Turkoman and feed and brush it until you reach level bonding 1 the finish the mission and once you have completed the mission the Turkoman should be waiting at Clemens Cove

Where the Arabians really do excel is in handling (steering, but also AI to avoid obstacles and larger margin of error needed to avoid obstacles ). It makes a big difference. In hard to traverse terrain at high speeds, they have the best handling in the game and won't easily bump into things or fall from heights. It's situation dependent as far as best horse, IMO.

In my opinion the Turkamon are the best well rounded horse in the game. The Fox Trotter is only built for speed. The Turk has the highest HP 7 and tied with the Arabian in Speed 6. The Fox Trotter has 7 Speed and 6 Stamina but only a 5 in HP and Acceleration. The Rose Gray Bay Arabian has the best stats 7 HP, 7 Stam, 6 Speed and 6 Acceleration.

Most fearless horse is the American Standardbred (take one from the police - they are probably trained to not buck you off), I have a Turkoman too but its 2nd to the Am. Stand. police version. All black coat very nice but slower than the Turkoman. The only way for the horse to buck you off is if the cougar literally bites the horse. Otherwise it just stays put. Buell I have too. He bucks you off unfortunately too rather easily. P.S. I have 4 horses: Buell (dutch warmblood), Rachel (thoroughbred), a beautiful black American Standarbred and the Dark Bay Turkoman.

Xbox player here, anyway I got the gold turkoman. Beautiful animal by the way. However it would not let me stable it. It says it’s a gang horse. After unsuccessfully trying to stable it I couldn’t interact with the horse or bond with it. On my second attempt I got a dark bay turkamon. Here is how I stabled it. I rode to valentine on the turkamon with the Arabian following me. When at the stables the Arabian was shown instead of the turkamon. I sold the Arabian and the turkamon appeared in its place. I was then able to stable it. I rode back and got a silver turkamon and did the same thing. Only this time I sold the Hungarian horse I had. Now I have two turkamon horses. Thanks tagbacktv for the tip about these horses. I didn’t really like the Arabians size it feels like I’m riding a pony lol.

(I'm a sucker for dark bays as my last two irl horses were dark bay) Also, thank you for the previous video showing us that spot where the horses spawn--I went over and immediately a brindle thoroughbred and rose grey Arabian were there! I might actually sell my white Arabian though and try for this horse! Also, you were right I waited until no one was riding by, hopped off my horse, hopped on my new Rose Grey Arabian, and rode off into the sunset. No crime reported. No one cared 😂

I've used this method a while back and now I have 3 Arabians (white was found in the wild, black and grey spawned for me in this place) and this dark brown Turkoman. I wanted Missouri but no luck, so I've decided to keep Turkoman. I love Arabians, they're fast, have great stamina and health (especially grey one, at 4th level bonding they have 100% health and stamina) and they never disappointed me. Grey might be the best one but white is still my favorite. I'm like attached to her hah. Turkoman is a very good horse, also fast and I like that is bigger than Arabians but I think it's the only one horse from all (also I had Mustang, Nokota, Ardennes, Tennesse) that got me killed, so I wouldn't say they're not afraid of things. I was looking for a cougar and Turkoman dropped me twice (2 deaths in a row, I was mad). I didn't had time to get off the horse, so I could shoot cougar in the head because he was too scared (despite cougar wasn't that close... yet). They've attacked me and I was dead before I could get on my feet. I wish we could have more horses... I would never sell that grey Mustang.

Something important people should know; no horses will spawn using this method if you have a temporary horse anywhere on the map. Make sure you don't have a temp horse forgotten somewhere, if you do sell it. Only your main horse can be on the map for horses to spawn.

I ended up getting missouri foxtrotter. Gorgeous animal. Also saving after studying the horses gets you entries in the compendium. Edit: It is counted as low key horse theft. If you do it too many times, they get the law onto you.

Thing is, every time you do it and reload the residents start commenting on your behaviour saying you're a troublemaker and once that starts, when you try to saddle another horse in that location after you pat it, a witness reports you. (I was trying to see how many times you can do it. I managed to saddle up five different horses before they started reporting.) Found out the Turkoman does not register in the compendium so I guess it can be after Arthur's story.

So this does still work but you specifically need to be using a physical copy of the game and to not download the patch. Digital copy's of RDR2 will not allow you to do this. The disc has the release version of this game where this bug will still work if you don't download the patch straight away. Now you can download the latest patch after you have got the horses you need and the game will still work as intended. But you can't do it the other way round. Say for example you have a save on the latest version of the game. You then can not uninstall RDR2, only install version 1.00, then expect a later version save to work on that. Basically it only makes sense to do this on a fresh play through, then create a permanent save with the horses you want for all future play throughs. This is because as I said you can load a ver 1.00 save into any later patch but not the other way round. Hope this long winded answer makes sense.

For anyone interested, if you want to do this TODAY YOU CAN, it takes a bit of fuzzing as you have to uninstall the game, turn off internet connection, install the game and keep network off until you're done. (if you have auto update off you can download your pre order/special edition horses if you turn off the game, turn on network and quickly install the addons, the update might start by itself but it can't finish if you are quick with turning network off again) You CAN run to and from the bridge or reload the game but I very rarely found anytinhg better than a standardbred that way. Just turn on and off the gmae and it'll get done much quicker. In the first versions of the game the lasso glitch works too, though the game buld it is a little glitchy so I would let the game update when I'm satisfied with the horses I got. (ps4 pro map and minor in-game lag, perhaps some quest glitches I haven't encountered ect.)

Fastest way I've gotten them to respawn is to ride past the crossroads and turn around at the red barn there's always 2 different horses and every once in a while it might have none but it's more consistent with them spawning then not

It works lol I even managed to spawn Sadie's and Hoseas Turkoman but you can't have them cause they disappear when their mission's come into play... plus I managed to get the gold Turkoman + black n white Missouri fox Trotter + black and white Arabians all from this spawn location... So far I'm still in love with the foxtrotter, great stamina fully bonded and I've not had any fuss with him in a fight even when i'm standing right infront of an enemy and being shot at (I skidded to a stop and knocked one guy off his horse and there was still one right infront of me that got a shotgun to the face). I can easily catch deer while riding it. I can sprint from camp to town with still 20% stamina or more left. And holy geez the health is amazing. I was afraid the horse was gonna die in that bank wagon shootout but several bullets barely scratched his health (didn't even lose control or got much fuss while he got shot a few times). I've had the rose grey arabian and I used him to run through blackwater in CH2 (it was hell, no rest at all). Bucked me off twice. Then I was hunting deer and fired off a round and the horse spooked and ran a bit. I had the brindle thoroughbred for a little while and was not impressed, spooks about as easily as an arabian. I have the reverse dapple nokota and I'll test that one out soon. (I'm testing them with sprinting, hunting, weapon use and fights).

Its easy to get that horse here are the steps, 1. You need to play the mission Horse Flesh For Dinner ( In Chapter 3 With John & Javier ) 2. When You Go Talk to The People That buys the Horse ( Clay And Clive ) Actually don’t walk up to them go and feed & brush which horse you want ( Dark Bay Turkoman ) and wait until the temporary horse icon pops up. 3. Now you walk up to them and finish the mission. 4. Ride to Clemens Cove and get the horse. I will do this in a video showing the steps

Anyone interested, as of today, in October 2022, this still works. I don't have a special satchel, I just fed the horse with whatever I had (full satchel of all provisions) till the temporary horse icon appeared, finished the mission, woke up in camp, walked back to the horse trader, got on my new horse, took to stable.

The White Arabian is among the very best horses in the game. The Rose Grey will be the fastest. I make sure the white one is my most trusted horse through the game as Arthur.

I spent about an hour to get the Missouri Fox Trotter and there must be some sort of RPG elements involved with their temperament. Mine is a big wuss and bucks me off just at the sight of a dead animal. So disappointed with it.

Turks are the way to go. I have the rose grey bay arabian and the foxtrotter and I have to say the golden turk definitely lives up to the war horse name. Got ambushed by wolves and good old Goldie didnt even try and run when they were biting at his legs. Decent speed too for such a meaty horse!

This was patched years ago U can still get it in chapter 3 from the main mission when u steal horses from the Gray's...Speed up & reach the horses as soon as u get close to the location before john...get inside & feed the horse until u bond then come out as soon as the cut scene is over go to task menu & reset checkpoint & the horse will be right there already bonded along with an additional horse to complete the story

It's a great horse, fast, gets complimented all the time by NPC (like that matters much right) but skittish as hell around "red dot animals" on the radar. Something coming up on you quick like a bear, cougar (4 legged, not 2) or pack of wolves, your getting dropped like underwear after after eating 6 chocolate ex-lax brownies.

It's fixed, but I guess it's a good thing to an extent. Keeping an eye out for a better horse and switching adds an aspect to the game. Unfortunately I can agree that all playthroughs don't need it with the limited fast travel.
