For those interested in an Appaloosa that doesn’t have “elite” stats or anything by any means, but has visible scarring and wounds that don’t disappear even after stabling, in Chapter 2 travel up near Annesburg and set up camp, 2 Murfree Broods will approach you and open a cut scene where they warn you to leave. You can defuse and they’ll leave you with the warning, but you can kill them both and take one of their horses and they look so tattered, beaten, and worn. Again, not an outstanding horse stat-wise, but it always felt good giving that girl a good life.

I didn’t even know myself, but assuming all of the spawned horses with scarring are related to the Murfree gang, I definitely saw those other breeds as well. WITH cheat codes, of course, lol. None the less ride on, partner. 🤘🏼

Some nice additions here. I also would add there are a few more to consider that are pretty rare such as the Gurillo Dun Mustang while not as famous as the tiger striped is still pretty rare only seen a few of them in my playthrough's really good horse too. The splashed white American Paint coat is rare too. The Pearlino Andalusian is very rare too like the wild Arabians there is only one in the whole game I believe and I didn't even know it existed till my 3rd play-through of the game . Finally one most players don't realize is really rare is the Raven Black Shire horse that you can sell or keep if you want. You can get it with the first mission with Hosea and it's the only one in the entire game.

My two favorite horse I had were the horse I took from the debt collection mission where you threatened the guy who couldn’t speak English and the dark brown one from the Braithwaite stables during the mission to steal them. Every time I rode that one people always complimented what a fine horse it was

I stumbled on that morgan by accident one day during my first blind playthrough - didn't know anything about it but was really taken by its fiery red mane and tail! I tracked that thing for like 45 minutes real time because it kept running away and I didn't really know how to break horses at the time, but I finally managed to approach and break him! He ended up being my favorite horse and I named him "Diablo" for his striking, "fire-and-brimstone"-like appearance.

I have started rdr2 atleast 5 times now. I never have gotten past chapter 2. I try to obtain everything before doing stort. Like the legendary outfit and satchel, all weapons and all. For me I need high acceleration, that fast take off, high health and stamina. Speed is a bonus. I got Arthur the MFT horse and man it made me miss the arabian. Even at lvl 4 bonding, that horse would get scared. Atleast with the black arabian you get that elite handling. For Arthur. For me The Black Arabian is perfect. Elite handling, if you learn how to use it properly you can go up steep narrow turns everything fast. That High Health and Stamina is a must. That fast speed and acceleration is insane. That take off and being able to catch anyone is legendary. For me The Black Arabian is THE Horse for Arthur. Also the Hungarian horse, Im still waiting to see if its actually brave asf or not. I have it at level 4 bonding. Still waiting.

You shouldn't need the stables for saving horses. You should be able to keep a whole string of horses at camp. Then buy hay etc. and have horses shod at them.

I don't consider some of these legendary (except the tiger striped bay Mustang) because they were added during the update for console that was normally for PC. And most have been in the game since day 1.

And the red chestnut (blood bay) Arabian which was added to console with the update. Edit: Also the warped brindle was also added with the update. Same with the perlino Andalusian. Buttermilk buckskin Kentucky saddler. The update added multiple coat colors to 5-7 horses. As well as new guns.

You have to return to the stranger a few times before the final part of the hunting mission you go on with him. Then you get Buell
