Actually most trailers back in the day were just a supercut of the entire movie spoiling everything. Only since recent years have they become more secretive
@micahcook24085 жыл бұрын
I’ve anyways wished trailers were like that.... as a kid I thought the first Despicable Me trailer (with his shadow just coming on the screen with Pharrell’s “Bad Bad Day”/title song in the background) was frightening, mysterious, and interesting all at the same time. It really intrigued me to want to go see it... i wish modern day trailers did that sort of thing more often. It’s just fun to guess what the movie is going to be about and smart marketing because even if it is a horrible or mediocre film, you got the audience to pay tickets because they were intrigued by the mystery around it.... wasn’t “A Quiet Place” like the most recent film trailer to really do this?

@@ShadowSonic2 Right. That was my point. E.T. had great initial sales and came out around the same time but had no staying power. It was just an easy sell to families and kids. The Dark Crystal was not an easy sell, but had staying power. In terms of potential net revenue, The Dark Crystal is now proving to be superior (assuming they merchandise it tastefully, board games, posters, figurines, etc.). Financially, that's a bit ironic, because it didn't look that way in 1982. I imagine the publisher probably even used the word "dud".

You really didn't know this movie before? Well I am a kid of 80s and 90s so this is one of my favourite movie of all times. And back than wasn't so easy to watch the movie when ever You like, I remember borrowing this movie from video rental almost all the time, and Yeah I was scared very scared because when I first saw it I was maby 5, this movie is 2 years older than me, but my dad always likes fantasy so I watched a lot of fantasy movies with him. This one is definitely on my personal top 10 movie list. I am bit afraid of the series well mor like of the scenario hope it will be good. "The Dark Crystal" isnt complicated movie but its dark and magical at the same time. I am excited because they decided to do it in old fashion way like orginal movie, not any CGI just puppets. So I hope to see this magic again.

(which btw was released at the same time that Dark Crystal, and thats why Dark Crystal wasnt that popular back than E.T. Won, Darc Crystal becomes real classic in 90s), The Last Starfighter, Offcourse Back to the Future, Who framed Roger Rabbit, Dune, oryginal Mad Max movies, Batteries not included, Intercosmos, XSTRO (that movie is sick, disgusting and still prohibited in England now), Battle Beyond the Stars, The Witches of Eastwick, Beeteljuice, Masters of the universe from 1987 its live action version of a cartoon, offcourse Conan the Barbarian (but well I dont like Arnold Swartshenegger ), and than Conan the Destroyer, Red Sonja, Gremlins, Critters, i think that those I wrote are all from 80s but never forget Fifth Element, DragonHeart, First Knight, Stargate ( one of my favourite but I didn't like the series just the movie), and well offcourse Star Wars and Star Trek. I can add more If You want, those the one that cames to my mind now, but well I don't know how old are You because If You are Young person used to CGI and todays effects Some of this movie effect can look funny to You well I am also not that old born 1984 but I was used to those kind of effects and some times they look better than CGI, and also when You are a kid You see everything different. The only thing that matters, is that the original has been brought to your attention. The Age of Resistance, is a tribute to match & indeed honour what was released in 1982. From all the trailers for the series, it looks like, nearly 40 years after the original, it will be worthy of it's predecessor. A generation watched the trailer for the series, with tears of joy in their eyes, myself included. The Dark Crystal, was as far as I am aware, in the whole history of cinema, the only live action film without a single human actor visible on screen, only animatronics, puppeteers in costume & puppets. The Age Of Reckoning, by all the Gods is going to be a fitting masterpiece, no unnecessary cgi either, everything possible by remote control, strings or other stage magic. I cannot wait!

Haven't seen this movie before Just saw the Labyrinth was on Netflix and told my dad, and he said I should definitely watch these two movies since I have never seen these two before, and as of writing this I have 8:35 seconds left into the movie. (Labyrinth) also, the dark crystal movie on Netflix is that like a redo of this movie, or is it different cause I wanted to know if I should watch that or let my dad know about it. Also, I have never seen the never-ending story or whatever its called but I did buy it a few years ago lol
