Okay, the Archer's sacrifice/Hunter's death should've been HIGHER on this list! You have NO idea what it took for the Archer to make that sacrifice. Mystics don't have any ambition, the Skeksis' are the halfs that inherited all of the ambition. So for Archer to muster up something that he doesn't possess to make the sacrifice - knowing FULL well that he'll never be reunited with his other half, unlike the other Mystics - is a marvel.
@HamaraCS5 жыл бұрын
That is such an interesting comment. I just finished the show and was wondering why all the mystics didn't just do like Archer and killed themselves to kill the Skesis. Thought it was quite a plot hole to present the mystics as purely good but then letting all gelflings get killed by Skesis. Now thanks to you I understand it. It's not just a separation between good and bad, it much more that that.
@Michaelf19685 жыл бұрын
Should have been number 1
@Corina62355 жыл бұрын
Exactly! In the original film, the narration is clear that the Mystics live in forgetfulness. They survive and wait, they don’t MAKE anything happen. They literally have no drive whatsoever. So for the Archer to make this sacrifice is just amazing. And hey, I COULD be your Mystic half. I too am extremely forgetful and have little drive :P jk!

It seemed like it's very likely to happen. I watched a clip of an interview of one of the executive producers yesterday (Javier Grillo-Marxuach), and he said that he was forbidden to even say the name of the second season, which at the very least suggested they are very serious about continuing into season 2. It also surprised me that although he noted the series was quite expensive to make, he indicated other Netflix series were actually more expensive. To me Age of Resistance looked like no expense was spared. I don't know how it could have looked any better (I watched it in Dolby Vision on an OLED, BTW), and the cast and crew they assembled was extraordinary. Perhaps the biggest shock to me was, although I was in the camp insisting this series had to be built around puppetry, the CGI that was used much to my surprise may be the highest quality and most skillfully implemented I've seen in a series and in my view more impressive than a lot of big budget blockbuster movies.

Surprised the “Song of Thra” moment didn’t make it onto this list.

"We are not Tavra" didn't even get an honorable mention? For shame

I think that'd be more fitting in a "top ten 'oh shit' moments" list.

I feel like Brea is such an underrated character. She has to be my favorite, honestly.

My favorite part is the skesis and misteek living together. A skesis who wants to rejoin with his counterpart is a huge first.

Wow, what a show! I've been a fan of Dark Crystal for 33 years since i was 4 and even have the blu-ray and ultraHD BD and graphic novels and books. I've been waiting 3 years for this and it delivered. Great writing, characters, storytelling, a great sense of humor, grand action, deep meanings, nice music even use of the classic theme in a few parts and a true labor of love. Episode 7 has my favorite moment being the puppet show and funny when Aughra was trying to get the song of Thra in different ways. What do you get when you cross Game of Thrones, Heavy Metal (1981), Robert E Howard, Frank Herbert, George Martin, JRR Tolkein, Demolition Man (themes of so-called benevolent leaders where rebels can see greed and deception), Avatar (both airbender and Cameron), Fire and Ice (1983), Star Wars, Legend of Zelda and Fraggle Rock? you get this epic prequel series. I love the world building, different gelfling tribes, the origin of how Skektek got his eye removed and all that. Maybe in season 2 we'll get a flashback of how the Urseks came and split into the two different races. All in 10 60 minute episodes in a miniseries kind of way. Even some rousing action in some episodes. It takes many years after the crystal cracked and two races were created and 23 years before the original movie. This is using practical effects, animatronics, people in suits, puppets, cgi, models and all balanced together with excellent writers, good cinematography great direction and is a passion project made by people who have an actual love of the original and honoring Henson's legacy and respecting the material just like Blade Runner 2049 was to Blade Runner as that was an excellent sequel. It and Blade Runner 2049 succeeded where lazy halfassed soulless passionless moneygrab insult attempts at reviving older properties like Ghostbusters, Robocop, Elm Street etc failed miserably. This looks like it's doing Jim proud! and nice cast too even Mark Hamil as the scientist. I'm also glad it respected some of the original characters like some of the Skeksis and Aughra with respect unlike Luke in Last Jedi. Good job Jim Henson Company! my favorite show of the year.

My favorite time that I always randomly think of is when Rian is in the carriage with the Chamberlin. When they are fighting about going to war. “War is end!” “Unless we win!” I love it

5:53 that part was ultimately my favourite, especially when deet and rian looked at each over like that it just made my 10 year old side come out.

I think the scene where Brea and her sisters reunite should be on here. I love Tavras character, and Seladons arc really speaks to me. The scene where they all hug each other melts my heart.
