@HijackTheJackal5 жыл бұрын
@@AngelEmfrbl I totally agree! This is seen a lot in the first meeting of SkekGra, where he even refers to Hup as a slave, multiple times. He was inherently created to show that he indeed has these negative aspects that all the Skeksis are known for, but acts differently on them. It kind of reminds me of when you meet a seemingly nice, intelligent person, and they turn out to be socially impolite at the worst times, showing their true feelings and colors. Whether or not this is because he's a junkie is up for debate, but I wouldn't put it past him. Overall, his character feels more life-like than the other skeksis, because he accurately shows how people can have both good, and bad opinions about their situation, and society around them. At the end of the day, it's even hard to decipher if he's a "good guy" or not. Sure, he stands behind the Gelfling Revolt, but his Skeksis way of thinking is very obviously embedded in his brain, which could stand for another social commentary on Nature vs. Nurture!

AUGH! I have so much trouble trying to pick my favorite moments from this series but the idea of puppets using puppets is just the best friggin thing ever. It also makes for a wonderful retelling of some established lore if a little vague. The part where the hermitic tries to put out the fire with the gelfling puppets foot is is something I just noticed now and is just....Amazing!

So who at Netflix thought it would be a good idea to cancel such a creative and wonderful show, and what were their reasons for doing so?
@goliathgar4985 Жыл бұрын
Mostly some people who saw the movie was scared from the Skesis and what they did or saw the death of the Empore (crumble and turn into dust and Mystic burst into flame when the Skesis scientist fell to his death in the furnace)

The backstory presented in the show was a little too close to earths true history and the reptilians in charge of Hollyweird didn't like that it portrayed resistance and rebellion against their counterparts in the show (the skeksis obviously).

The style of puppetry reminds me of Barnaby Dixon and Dabchick! I should've googled this before my comment. Explains why it popped up in my recommended. Good on ya Barnaby!!!

The scene is absolutely fantastic. It was watching this video that convinced me to subscribe to Netflix and see the entire series. There's so much beyond the surface of this movie. Consider even the dual grave it's a combination of the Skekies and the Mystics magics/wisdom combined with a fragment of the Crystal of Truth. I have to give this series credit as being one of the best movie or television productions I've seen for a very long time. Simply ingenious.

This is amazing as Bobshaeux pointed out this is how people have been entertaining themselves for thousands of years. When I see those tiny puppets being controlled by bigger puppets 👌it’s art beyond art.

The best part of this scene was imagining them sitting down and coming up with this puppet show and making the puppets. Like it was a discussion of them going "okay we know we'll have to explain all this to someone what should we do" and there response was puppets its amazing.

This series is amazing. And had many lovely scenes. But this scene... this one invoked such awe and wonder that I felt like a kid again. Puppets doing puppets? Beautiful.

Moment I saw that Gelfling puppet and the way it moved, I KNEW immediately it was Barnaby Dixon. One of the best scenes of the series.

The music, the imagery...everything in this is amazing. Lol, at 3:52, you can see the Heretic using the puppet Gelfling to try to stomp the fire out on the Wanderers back, lol.

Elements of budaixi in this scene, especially in the Gelfling puppet. Shows how much the creators & puppeteers of this story truly revere and honour and study their craft.

Ahem… A 𝑴𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒕 Show within a Puppet Show (?). From Ur Gro's extremely relaxed ye unmistakably Kermitesque «Yaay!» a the beginning, to Skek Gra's overthetopsmanship which is equally Kermitesque in his manic positivity, to the crazy "Gonzo the Great" up-in-flames finale, despite Skek-Gra's puppet's attempts to put it out(!), not only make a worthy nod to Jim Henson the Master, but these be easter eggs hearkening back to the zaniness of the good old Muppet Show. A+

0:05 to 0:17 This is a great scene from a great show. I love how UrGoh and SkekGra came together as they did, making them the only UrRu and Skeksis pair that were not only connected, but actually living together.

He mentioned the "inner sun." If I remember correctly, the plot description for the potential sequel to the Dark Crystal mentioned the inner sun of Thra as an important part of that story. If the show had continued, maybe they would have even been able to do a version of that lost sequel. This is such a roller coast ride. The show was great, but will we ever know what might have been?

For the longest time, I thought the breaking of the crystal was what tore the Urskeks apart. That’s why returning the shard is what brought them back together again
@AlextheHistorian3 жыл бұрын
Nah, the Urskeks experimented with the Crystal which broke them apart. The returning of the shard isn't what brings them back together, the shard only heals the crystal. It's the Great Conjunction that brings the Urskeks together. But both halves must be present in order for them to become whole.
