Oh my god this movie, never have I felt so uncomfortable. The Beasts look amazing but the movie feels sooo grimy. It’s an underrated gem, I do advise everyone watch it at least once in their life.

Another fun fact this film was actually filmed in my home country Australia in fact the housing area that Max lived with his divorced mother and teenage sister was actually filmed on the outskirts of Sydney

This is one of the few movies my mom showed me when she was still apart of my life. We had it on a burned dvd with simple marker written on the disk. This movie was a large part of my childhood. The funny thing about my mom is even though she is no longer in my life, and didn’t really take care of me well when I was a kid, a lot of the movies that are important to me now came from her. Where The Wild Things Are is so important to me for this fact. It’s just a good movie for a child to watch and learn from, despite how dark it appears.

This movie is a favorite of mine! I didn't think that a children's book where just a bunch of stuff happened could be come such a thought provoking film. Plus, the special effects and puppetry is amazing! I also wish that we got more of Max Records in some movies... he had so much potential.

This movie was my childhood. As a kid I can sympathy with Max. I always get the feeling that out there. There’s monsters that represents me and my feelings, in how I deal with them at times I can feel like a terrible guy myself however, What me and Max have comment is that we both struggle with dealing with our emotions. Max ran away while I stay isolated with myself wondering about my insecurity’s sometimes.

Where the Wild Things Are is incredibly beautiful and possibly one of the greatest films of all time. It is a critically underrated story about mental health and the hardships that we as humans go through in life. I wish it had more love but it is amazing to see a video like this praising it for what it is.

This movie is the best prediction of childhood in my opinion. It's a beautiful film! Also as a skateboarder, it's so cool to see how far Spike Jonze has come. From starting his career making skate videos to now making big budget movies. Big inspiration! 🙌🔥🙏

I genuinely credit this movie to the being the start of my anxiety issues. I was 9 when it came out, my mom just had my little brother and my sister and I could sense the shift in our home life. Now having my own baby, I’ve realized she was going through postpartum depression. I’ve always been an empath so it effected me immensely. I remember my parents being very excited to watch this movie thinking it would be like the book. We watched it once and I was never the same, it literally makes me feel creeped out just thinking about it.

Yeah same. I watched this movie when I was very young so I forgotten about it's name and what it was about. I only had a flash memory of one of the scenes. It wasn't till I heard the name again when I remembered the movie. Planning to watch it sometime soon too.

I'm Australian as well and that is definitely a cool fact but it's hard to believe that the place where they filmed Max's house was actually on the outskirts of Sydney and the islands Where the Wild Things lived what's films in the Australian bush

When you were describing the movie before starting the review, I was like, a bit confused, but confused enough that I had to turn on subtitles to understand what you were saying there because I think it was _how_ you were saying it that threw me off? But I will say that the short story the movie was based on is something from my childhood, yet forgot its existence through time, and I only saw the movie once in 2010. Glad to hear you say that kids would like it whereas grown-ups will get a totally different experience that it might actually be for them.

This movie is an ahead of its time and so relatable. Especially for me I used to escape into my imagination but now my imagination is torture so it feels similar to the world turning against you. Hes not prepared and his world he’s in gives him no excuses like reality is staring him in the face and isn’t just going away. Also that like trust people have in you and feeling like you’re letting people down. The pity they see in you this movie is so deep. The confusing emotions and the finality to the world for no reason. Also how others interpret situations different than you even when you wish they understood in your way.

1:11 well... the film was never really aimed at kids, Spike Jonze's goal was "to make a movie about childhood" rather than to create a children's movie. the studio admit that it was never really gonna be for kids as it was aimed to a much more broader audience
