They could've have they're own game of thrones. Infact canceling the show on the same day it wins a primitime Emmy is just a stupid move because not only does that show a little bit of disrespect to your own show but also to both the people involve and its own fanbase for dark crystal and puppetry. That decision also sours the relationship made between the distributor and the studio that co-made the property to point where they made not want to work with you again in the future. Sorry for getting on a little bit of a tangent.

It got cancelled because it was too expensive to make, and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, AND probably because they would support the release of Cuties movie than support a movie of puppets.

I loved & still rewatch the original movie. I'm glad the new show has new fans! My daughter is seriously in awe of it. I personally find the script a little clunky & character interactions a bit awkward. But it certainly was worthy of a second season , due to its popularity & , really , its novelty. Couldn't have cost much more , the main puppets & sets were already built. The toy shelves were begging for new popular merchandise like Dark Crystal could have generated. Programming execs don't seem to have the savvy of their predecessors in the field , and this isn't the first mystifying decision to come recently.

I’m a long time follower and I was so happy to see that in my notifications! I’m a huge fan of the show! Also I’m glad that we share opinions here. One of my favorite things they took from the movie and developed in the show was also the Dreamfast. I love how it became a weapon and how Rian’s memories and truth was labelled as a “sickness” by the Skeksis. It added to the theme of higher ups doing everything in their power to silence revolutions. Also Rian’s character is touching here because he had to relive his trauma over and over again in order to start the revolution and save everyone. That’s dedication here! Also, thank you for highlighting the puppeteers and other people who worked on the show! I got to know some of them and the passion they had for the project is gigantic!

In my opinion, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance should've been wholly CGI or maybe entirely animated with performance-capture technology. The puppetry feels out of time and out of place, especially in this era of computer graphics.
