Luffy himself is not a psychopath it’s more to do with his general unawareness. Like him being completely unaware that Hancock likes him or his inability to keep names in his mind.

1. did it take gear 5 introduction to see this side of Luffy... no, just watch punk hazard, or end of zou, or end of wano. Luffy always endangers his crew because he wants to have fun at the expense of his friends worry, because Luffy has nothing to worry about. that doesn't make him a psycho if luffy was a psychopath he would agree with usopp to keep sailing the seas with the damaged going merry because usopp was begging going merry's spirit to heal itself and a psychopath Luffy would be optimistic that the spirit would heal the ship so it's fine. but obviously Luffy chose his crew safety over having fun with the going merry, or with fighting kizaru, and when Zoro told Luffy to stop goffying around in punk hazard and Luffy took it to heart. 2. luffy bending peoples wills to be happy is just a more physical form of what luffy has been doing for the entire series turning oppressed people like the straw hats and making them free by being himself, and it's crazy how to brought this point up when his will inducement ability isnt working on kizaru or the elders cause they don't want to free 3. and hasn't sacrificed? everytime luffy uses gear 2 gear 3 gear 4 and gear 5 when the timer is gone he's either dying, tiny, drained, and right now becomes old all to help his friends

I get your point but what he's trying to say is that the whole gear 5th laughter thing feels forced and it's making one piece look like a complete joke, just look at egg head, they are up against the FIVE ELDERS and it feels like nothing is at stake, now we have joy girl as well, one piece is genuinely starting to look bad, Vegas punk stellar is probably dead, Luffy is in life or death situation, and he's still laughing, what's he laughing at, where's the joke, for crying out loud your crew is in danger.

I completely agree with you that Luffy is failing in gear 5th. It happened with Sentoumaru, it happened with Vegapunk and I think it will happen with Zoro. The main thing I very much disagree with you in your video was saying that Oda is failed at story telling in any way. I think this is all by design. We are meant to question if this is luffy. We are meant to look at him and think "Where is the Luffy that would jump in front of a homing axe at the last second to save shirahoshi? Is this what Luffy wants to be? Does he want to be so free that he is free from worrying about his friends and the people arround him? I expect before the end of eghead luffy will have to face the concequences of Gear 5th. Oda is easying us into it by fisrt having a relative rando like sentoumaru get stabbed. Then Vegapunk while luffy had him under his wing (not even counting all the other vegapunks that actually died). Next it needs to be someone in the crew. Zoro is acting weird for a while. He is now facing possibly the strongest gorosei. I expect this battle will spill into the giants ship. We might see luffy crying in a very similar way to O-Toko when her father was executed. I don't think it was a coincidence that we see Gear 5th for the first time in the same island we see the side effects of the smile fruits. Good video though. I have been looking for someone talking about this weirdness with Gear 5th for a while.

Ah I am heavily going to disagree with you about gear five here for a second. Gear five was made right after Luffy basically died his devil fruit was the thing to save him and gear five is the result of the devil fruit remembering how it’s old user used to fight. I am sure it took years if not decades for Joy Boy to master this technique but for Luffy this power was thrusted on him suddenly. Much like Zoro needed to master his new sword Luffy is going to need time to master his new abilities. When he is in gear 5 it feels like he is out of control doing all kinds of wacky things because he basically is since the devil fruit itself is taken more control then Luffy.

The reason that Luffy got the rubber Rubber fruit is because he naturally gives people freedom. From the very first island to now this has continued. The Rubber Rubber fruit was looking for someone like Luffy for a long time in order for the dream that it represents to be completed.

See again I am going to disagree with you here it’s not Luffy that is actually wishing peoples eyes to pop out it’s a side effect of gear five which I believe over the current ark and future arks we are going to see less and less of this. This side effect of devil fruit users can be seen in the still burning and frozen punk hazard.

Luffy is barely in control of himself because unlike gears 2,3,4 gear 5 is not his making nor did silvers help him control it. Gear five came Directly from his devil fruit. I believe in time Luffy will be able to control himself enough to stop smiling and laughing in gear five

It feels like he has mania ngl but honestly oda has stated he wants it to not be as serious but we also got to see how the enemy sees him through pigeon guy and kaidos eyes and he doesn’t look as goofy there, he looks more like the bad guy Edit: just finished the video and even though the serious situations cause the most feeling and longevity is because it’s not constant, the story of one piece is just a guy who wants to be free, if he had the option to fight or not he wouldn’t, the way his powers have always been portrayed is silly, for example when he turns small after gear 3 and when he was younger ace and sano both laughed at him calling his attacks gum gum because it’s not a serious name for his attacks, Lucy’s main goal has never been to be serious and be a good fighter but he finds himself in situations where he needs to be, we’re just yet to see that with gear 5 because remember when zoans are awakened they tend to usually take over the mind of the user and I think maybe it’s going to take a serious situation where someone close to him like garp is in trouble until he can break through and have full control

I think in order to use Observation Haki you need concentration and focus on things around you. Gear 5 clearly turn off Luffy awareness.

It’s a zoan fruit. Luffy is also fighting Nikas instincts . I get where your coming but feels off base to me. Just like Lucci form makes him even more blood thirsty
