I don't think the issue most people have with Islam is his fighting style, but rather his personality and arrogance. Like most fighers from that part of the world, they have an arrogance, an "I am superior to everyone" attitude that would rub most people the wrong way. As a khabib fan, I do want islam to surpass him. I don't understand why we wouldn't? After all khabib's career was not cut short because of a loss streak or because of a ufc related injury or something like that, it was family related as in, he could have easily kept fighting and won the next fight with whoever it may have been at the time. And no, not everyone hates islam for KOing volk or charles. Like sure they are the favourites but my friend for example loves volk and got pissed when he got KOd in round 1, but didn't get pissed at who KO'd him as Islam after all deserved the rematch. That’s the appeal. Charles is like the underdog that pulls through. He’s considered above Islam because he has a better resume. His good wins at LW are Charles and…that’s it. Could say Arman in hindsight but Islam beat him during Arman’s debut. The rest of his wins are solid top 15/top 10 level opponents. Islam has Volk on his resume but even Islam kinda downplayed his win in the first fight by calling Volk small, short etc for being a 5’6 FW moving up
