Housing is more expensive than in most American cities (you need to stay somewhere while you go there). Some things are incomprehensibly expensive now, check the price of beef.

I am a dermatology doctor from Jordan , I saw cases of poorly conducted hair transplants coming from Turkey , but also I saw magnificent results of complicated cosmetic surgery cases from there as well , Turks are talented and committed doctors , the problem is that it is difficult for non-residents to figure out the few bad doctors especially with language barrier.

Ive just had a rhinoplasty, in my own country non the less, and it was the cheapest i could find. Not cheap but the cheapest and im really happy with the results. When you go to the market you get your fruits and vegetables cheaper... Its just not really true in all cases that cheap is not good.

I am so sorry for the loss. I am a dentist in Istanbul, and we treat patients from abroad. Sometimes the patient comes with an offer from another clinic, and when I see the costs, I can not believe my eyes. There is no ultra-cheap treatment unless the "clinic" sacrifices something. I have seen a lot of fake reviews of junior dentists trying to make complicated treatments. Please, please, please, cheap treatment doesn't exist.

Ok, I pay 1/3 of price of UCLA in Istanbul but there is a huge unacceptable Turkish manner in our every day lives that can be really awkward for a foreigner and this can not be compensated by the cost of the service. As a specialist dentist and practice owner in Turkey, I advise you to contact clinics or hospitals directly if you are considering treatment in Turkey or any other overseas country, and avoid working with agencies. You are not going on a sea trip; this is a health issue, and you should contact the doctor who will be treating you. Please avoid clinics that only treat health tourists and do not accept local patients. Remember, regardless of where you receive treatment, there is always a starting price, especially in the dental field. If you're getting a crown for 50 euros, there is likely a problem. It should be affordable, but not cheap.

I agree. I had plastic surgery in my twenties that I will forever regret. It ruined my face. Don't get surgery or fillers when you're young. Get them in your 50s/60s after having children, after an accident or because you me medically need it to sleep/breath correctly etc. 20s is way too young, your perception of yourself is still evolving. I needed a therapist in my 20s, not a cosmetic surgeon

My daughter was bullied all through school and into sixth form due to her size and we never knew, she hid it very well, when we found out the educational establishment was not interested and went to extreme lengths to sweep it under the carpet so as to avoid a bad ofsted report. People have to understand that every single surgery has risks. it is not only in Turkey, Thailand, Mexico etc. We had a young girl die from liposuction in Toronto, Canada just a few years ago who had surgery with a very prominent surgeon and the cases continue to increase. It is the society standards and the society's behaviour that is driving people to put their lives at risk. We need to change our mentality towards looks, especially the looks of women!

That's just one part. This is NOT about risks. There is GROSS MALPRACTICE in this exposé which is the main problem. You cannot discharge a patient clearly voicing their pain and discomfort IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGER Y AND TO A HOTEL ROOM. It's not just Turkey. The billion-dollar industry in Korea has bred "ghost doctors". Often, people would find a celebrity surgeon ( i.e. those who are famous based on their celebrity clientele ). They use this as their advertisement. Clients talk to them and get the consultation from these celebrity doctors..but once they're under anaesthesia and under the knife, it's a different surgeon who performs the surgery ( often a new student, a new graduate or some doctor who is trying to get into the plastic surgery business bc it's a lot of money and just getting additional certification ). Scary stuff. So even though everyone claims that Korea is sooooo "great" and "advanced" in their practises, it's not necessarily as strictly controlled as the US or Canada.

I think I’ve had this in the UK - I went to an expensive surgeon for a rhinoplasty but didn’t see the surgeon in the operating room and it got botched. I had to get a revision surgery which was very expensive again, and I still have lingering issues. I do believe all doctors are corrupt at this point.

Finally a sensible comment. I was obese most of my adult life like everyone else in my family. In 2010 I had had enough. I lost 90 pounds in 10 months. I was able to discontinue the 6 medications I was taking for T2D, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, IBSD, gastric reflux, and chronic inflammation. I never gained the weight back and am still drug-free 14 years later. I feel so much better than I did 20 years ago. I did this by myself, with focus and discipline. No Ozempic, no gastric bypass, not even a doctor consultation.

I'm a doctor myself and I'm shell shocked by the reactions people seem to have. They don't realise that this isn't even limited to Plastic Surgery. I did plastic surgery, but also needed one due to the health issues I had. I am telling you, I was looking over ONE YEAR to find good doctor. And then, counting all the costs I still desided to do it in Germany, where I live. I had care I wanted, I stayed in the hospital (not in the hotel) as long as I needed and I always could go to doctor if I felt any kind of problem. It is worth it to invest money in proper search and to pay more for proper treatment!

In most places, only the diploma of the plastic surgeon is hung on the wall and the operation is performed by nurses. As I said, there are not enough plastic surgeons in Turkey to perform so many operations. The number of doctors in Turkey is not enough for its citizens.

When I was obese I had Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol/triglycerides, IBSD, chronic inflammation, gastric reflux, lower back pain, and was a high risk of a stroke. Five types of cancer are linked to obesity. I lost 40 kg and all these diseases are completely gone. No vanity here, just good health.

The fact that 20 year old girl tragically paid with her life for a 'deemed' short cut and quick fix to lose weight when she clearly did no thorough research is astounding. To be morbidly obese at 20 and think an elective and invasive surgery was her solution is beyond sad. I can't believe that she and the people close to her didn't do more research into it? The thousands of pounds that she spent on the travel, accommodation and surgery obviously would have been better spent going to see a therapist, a dietitian and a personal trainer... But that requires a lot more time and work. But no, she asked the opinions of her social media followers! Sadly paying the ultimate price with her life! I'm a hairdresser and have had several clients over the years who have had bariatric surgery. All but one have put on all the weight again (and more) as you mentioned, they're not taught about diet, nutrition and exercise. Her death was 100% avoidable and the only positive that could possibly come from it... Is a warning to others.

My daughter was overweight, but surgery was never an option because surgery doesn't change one's mindset. She needs to recognize that she has an eating disorder and address that issue. What good is surgery if, after a few months, she returns to overeating in excessive amounts? Surgery treats the symptom, not the root cause.

I have an autoimmune disease that affects my hormones and gives me a huge tendency to get fat. I got to a point during puberty where I had 0 energy to move and always felt behind. What helped me? A lot of determination, persistance and swimming. Try swimming with your daughter as it is the best sport out there and it is easier for overweight people than others. When it comes to hunger what I did was replacing bad foods with fiber ones(since it actually gives you anxiety, and rehab symptoms to just eat way less right way). For example, instead of snaking meats or bread I would chew on raw carrots with hummus or eat a bunch of raw spinach with avocado. It doesn't feel as satisfying as a croissant but it helps you get used to less calories bit by bit

I am from Turkey. Before any operation, or the simplest medical treatment, I do thoroughly search the qualifications of the doctor, including his/her education, work experience, previous customer reviews. I think doctors here are overall good. The problem is that if there is a problem, there is no legal infrastructure that defends your rights as a patient. You are basically at the mercy of the doctor/hospital. This makes you very very vulnerable.

I'm an RN, I was working sometime with a renoum plastic surgeon, many clients were addicted to plastic surgery, they came time after time to have more surgeries, eyes, nose, abdomen, etc etc, they had really psychological problems. The doctor had to tell them NO sometimes, because they had no need of surgery, he was an honest doctor, but other doctors just look for the money and do whatever the client want, even if there is no need.

As a kid I had an accident at the age of 5 I had 37 bone fractures and was ina wheel-cahir for over 6 months. Naturally I started lagging behind in development. My parents encourage me to participate in multiple sports to get even with the other kids. If your kid gets fat is your responsibility as a parent to make changes. That said I am a medical student in Sweden and I despise the plastic surgeon industry. Praying on people's mental weaknesses. But they excist because we in the west have choosen to have a society and culture where it is accepted and prefered. People chase superficial wuick fixes and society rewards them. For me the issue is not these clinics but the culture that shape people who demand them. Very moralising of me. I got a negative opinion about people who choose to work in this industry and people who buy the services. Signs of personal characteristics which I see as negative. Greed and superficial.

Did you see the kalla fakta / uppdrag granskning (kommer ej ihåg vilken) about Botox? It came out years & years ago.. They talk about & clearly show the animal cruelty involved in producing botox... And the team then show it to mostly women & girls that has tried botox or want to try.. everyone is HORRIFIED to see that little mice die an AWFUL death only for them to immediately say "noo I'm not going to stop using it, i'm still going to get botox again".. There needs to be greater regulation to ensure that any medical treatment is done by certified doctors and that proper pre- and post- treatment care is given to patients. Doctors and clinics need to be held responsible. It's irresponsible for a clinic to say, "The doctor doesn't work for us. We only rented the operation room." How can a clinic do that? In the US this is typical. Doctors will often rent rooms at hospitals (your bill shows this), as well an anesthesiologist (again noted on bill). This is for regular surgery, colonoscopies etc.

I has gastric sleeve surgery April 2023. Like everyone who goes into surgery, we all research the hospital. Medaway in Istanbul. It was successful & I’ve maintained my weight loss 7 stone. It is a huge risk. Really scary travelling abroad alone for any surgery. I’m so sorry this surgery ended in a tragic loss. So young & beautiful. Anyone thinking about gastric sleeve surgery abroad should research throughly & check all reviews on that particular medical unit or hospital. I no even when you have researched it all there’s no guarantee it will be successful. I went on KZbin & Google. Contacted Medaway & every day for months leading up to surgery. I just graduated from medical school. I am Turkish and I can say that our doctors are unique in their professions. Not all of the doctors are good of course. That being said people should know weight surgeries are so risky even a very talented doctor can loose his/her patient. Search the hospital , contact the doctor eye to eye go before surgery make sure that place is a real hospital. I am so sorry for the loss this mother.

The "Do your research properly" Im gonna tell you something, I got a nosejob in Turkey in March 2024, the clinic I booked had zero bad reviews, only amazing ones ! All over internet, KZbin, facebook, google, insta EVERYWHERE But guess what, just before my surgery and Im talking 30min before my surgery, they asked me to sign a paper saying that I can't write anything negative about the clinic or the surgeon ! Otherwise they will sue me (it was over 1 million TL) So it doesnt mean anything. At the end I have no idea if the surgeon really did my operation, the experience was so bad, very bad !

Turkey has a thriving private health industry catering to foreigners, which actually puts uninsured locals at the risk of losing their access to services as underfunded public health is becoming unable to cope with the demand. There are amazing physicians and surgeons with their private practices in Turkey, but I am not sure they are as accessible from abroad. Overseas demand has also led to smaller clinics sprouting like mushrooms. DO NOT be tempted by the price. Overvalued Turkish lira has deteriorated the price advantage of more established hospitals. If you must, do your research well and opt for a major hospital chain. But even then, you are a stranger in a strange land. I wonder if there is such a thing as accreditation and monitoring by NHS or British health authorities.

Nasty. I got in touch with an advertised "#1 Dental Clinic in Europe" (Dentakay) and I sent them high quality scans of my teeth (done by a clinic in the UK). A few minutes later got an email from a "doctor" claiming that I needed 32 crowns to fix my problems. Seemed extremely odd and suspicious. I went to two separate dentists in the UK to get different opinions and both said I didn't need a single crown because my teeth were healthy. At most I needed a filling or two. These people wanted to shave off every single one of my teeth to replace them with synthetic garbage and leave me suffering for life. That was the end of me considering Turkey for anything medical. You are not a patient to them, but a wallet. They don't care for your wellbeing or interests whatsoever.

As a Turkish, I would never go to that clinic. Recently I saw an awful clinic that I know in an awful neighborhood getting international patients especially from Europe. That’s madness. I asked how do they find those patients and they told me that they’re working with an agency. These weird “#1 clinic”s all have abnormally high rates on the internet and so many reviews. Most people don’t leave positive comments when they are happy with the service. It’s the sad reality. People generally put reviews when they have something to complain. All those suspiciously positive comments are probably fake or at least forcefully taken in return for some discount or something. There are great medical professionals in Istanbul but I believe tourists are not capable to reach out to them. I have a fantastic dentist for example. He’s always my family’s go-to person when we have a dental issue for years and he refuses to apply anything unnecessary of course. He’s also a professor on the most respected university in the field in Turkey and he doesn’t even bother to open up a social media account. I’m sorry for the Europeans have to come to Turkey to get a dental treatment. Plastic surgery is one thing, it generally not something actually necessary. But a good dental treatment should be accessible to everyone all over the world without any expensive fees or crazy long waiting periods. When Turks move abroad they always complain about the medical system first.

And even though I wouldn't have used these exact same words if I were face to face with the mother of the victim, I would have still made my current point, only in a more diplomatic manner. If you can't understand my point of view, then maybe it would be easier if you would think of my comments as the troubling thoughts that go through someone's mind when they are trying to grapple some major event... Whoever goes for the “cheapest” always ends up in this same situation. Make your research properly. And beware of “agencies” for accountability, choose registered clinics or hospitals . %70 percent of social media accounts are just social media clinics which has no registered papers and illgeal , hence no accountability cause they are non existent on the paper .

Dental care or dentist are enough skilled generally in Turkey ☝😎but for beauty industry you may prevent dangerous problems It's very easy to understand operational skills by the diplom of a doctors who got from a reputable University of Turkey. Please ask their official diplom and degrees by their University where they have studied in Turkey. You may investigate her professional skills,proof of degree,transkript by ministry of health of the Turkish authorities.

So sorry for these beautiful ladies and their loss. I did my nose job in Istanbul 1,5y ago and I love my doc and the results tbh. He did not even charge for the consultation but I have done my research well and waited a year before making my decision.

Blotched surgeries happen in the States and Europe as well. It's part of cosmetic surgery. Most go well but a small percentage doesn't, though I appreciate that the US and Europe want to bring down the competition. That's what they do.

I have done a WL surgery in Turkey in 2020. I am a nurse, i know all the signs and if i dont feel right I will take action. I am lucky and all my prayers worked thank God. Ive only done the revision bc the 7k i paid in the UK for the gastric band eroded into my esophagus the healthier weight didn't want to take responsibility. Quoted me 12k tho they are the one who put me in this situation.

Turkish professionals are good and much more affordable in comparison to inflated prices in the west but when the price is gap is too big, that should come as a deterrent factor. Do not forget! Health can not be that cheap! For example, a nose job that costs maybe 5000 euros in France would cost around 2500-3000 euros in Turkey. If they offer you one with 800 euros, run!

I know a girl that has been badly damaged at the head face in Thailand , back with her family in Australia and has to go through so much trauma fixing every single bone broken in her face , and here we are perfectly normal people goes to their deaths by not being happy with their looks… what a sick world we live on!!!!

All surgeries carry risks even under the best circumstances hence I just do not understand why would someone go under the knife for plastic surgery. Going to a foreign country and being offered cheap and quick surgery does have to provoke some kind of thought that this may not be the right thing to do. I absolutely blame the doctors and those medical institutions but the patients are at fault as well. You have to do research on your doctor, the medical establishment before going under the knife no matter what. Personally I will not put myself in danger of death for beauty. Life is more precious than looks. Also never ever work with agencies.
