I feel it’s just whole internet community, which is just people. It becomes that if you take a opposing stand, pov, that people can’t talk to each other properly and peacefully anymore. Why it has to be that extreme, why romanticizing can got them doing so much harmful thing, and why there isn’t regulation.

Nice video. One thing I love is how Aqua and Ruby represents the two halves of Ai, both literally (in their eyes) and metaphorically. Ruby represents Ai's innocence. She wasn't able to be an adult in her past life, but being Ruby allowed Sarina to become a normal girl. Aqua takes on Ai's lies. He represents the cynical view as well as the knowledge of the entertainment industry. But I also think he's more similar to Ai in other ways. He wants his sister to succeed in being an idol AND wants to get revenge. Because, like Ai, he's greedy. So he takes on Ai's saying, that "lies are love". At least that's how I interpret him.

in the extended intro, there's a scene where they turn to face each other, and in that scene, their "star-eyes" align, having them see eye-to-eye, or ai-to-ai

Originally Kaguya sama was SUPPOSED to be a dark comedy drama just like Oshi No Ko, but the editors convinced Aka Akasaka to make it a rom com. There was supposed to be death and murder, but that didn't happen. That's why Oshi No Ko ended being the series like a tragic drama. I knew this series was going to be popular, just didn't think it would a few hours after it premiered that it exploded. Now that it has its traction, it's going to get better come season 2 and ESPECIALLY season 3. Crazy part is that Aka who does the writing now is doing two series at once in the SAME WEEK again. Writing Oshi No Ko and doing the rom com series Renai Daikou/Love Agency in the same week most weeks. Crazy thing last year was he was DRAWING Love is War and writing Oshi No Ko in the same week.

I also wished we could see the other version of Kaguya-sama : Love is War where there is death and murder too, because as far as I've seen of the Kaguya anime there is some undertone of darkness in the story itself (for example the Kaguya family, Kaguya herself being a yandere, the man who have been sent to another country because he made a mistake in a meeting, or Ishigami backstory where he got set up, etc). I think it could have made an interesting story too even if Kaguya-sama : Love is War is golden.

Aka Akasaka did an interview a little over 2 years ago on livedoor news with Mengo and his editor and one of the things he stated was that originally Ai wasn’t supposed to die, but because she was so popular and hard to write as a character he decided “to have her leave the industry” and he asked for Mengo’s opinion. It could have ended up with her just getting stabbed and surviving the incident but unable to perform anymore just as easily. He said the original idea was to have all 3 of them in the industry at one point. So it could have kept the dark elements of the industry without Ai’s death…but ultimately chose against it. This was all done during serialization of the first couple of chapters and he went onto say that Mem-Cho wasn’t even supposed to be more than a side character only in the LoveNow arc, but because he liked drawing her so much she became one of the members of B-Komachi and a reoccurring character. It seems that Aka Akasaka likes to improvise and a lot of times it ends up working out for the best.

With all the marketing surrounding Ai, I really thought the story would be about her and her two reincarnated kids, who have to watch how their mother struggles to balance idol life and home life. I thought this would be just another cutesy anime. I hate cutesy anime and find them boring. I was so wrong about Oshi No Ko. I was going to ignore it until the entire anime side of the internet rated it as the number one anime. I'm so glad I watched this show.

Ai saved my life, I was considering suicide and suffering depression due to my life and my failed exam before I watched Oshi no Ko and became an otaku to Ai, she inspired me to live on for her bc she died and was so like me in many ways in her childhood life and how she acts all confident and straightforward and optimistic outside but you never know how she is on the inside but she never considered death.--- although unlike me she is superior bc she is Ai --- I'm literally trying to live for her, although I won't become an idol and I mostly just sit in front of the screen being captivated by Ai Hoshino edits as she gradually helps me have the stamina to act like I'm fine to my family and perhaps, eventually, leave my room and face the music. Ai is my idol, and I'm hopelessly her worshipper.

it kind of reminds me of sayaka maizono from danganronpa. she's the ultimate pop sensation and the protagonist thinks that her life my be lovely and carefree but it's later revealed she sacrificed a number of things to get where she was, and even attempts murder when she might lose her spot in the industry.
@Sir_Sectrix
@Sir_Sectrix 8 ай бұрын
Yeah. Ai reminded me of her in a way. We can hint sayaka was abused pretty severely in the industry. Having to do long work hours with little free time. And knowing she’s the best. Probably gets the brunt of the punishment when her idol group goes wrong. I don’t believe the idol industry is the problem individually, it’s society as a whole. Furthermore, sayaka likely went through some heavy stuff to get to the top to the point she’ll blindly try to kill someone to keep her career. As only a day or two after watching the motivation video she tried to get out of the killing game by killing Leon Kuwata but died trying. As her idol group was her only family.

Glad to see your back and well. This show really made me feel good about being a fan of anime, while also feeling guilty about all the very real problems this show brings up in the entertainment industry. Don't get me wrong i would never do any of the things fans are portrayed doing in this series but of course it happens anyway and it makes me sad to know this happens in real life. The world has gotten closer than ever with technology available to more people than ever and the reach anyone can have on a online platform is mind boggling. No one can handle the pressure of 1000s to 100,000s eyes on them always and the pressure must be hard to deal with. I wonder how much of the mangakas own experience is woven into this manga, i hope they are doing alright. Again great video, always appreciate your takes and taste.

I’m surprised that we haven’t gotten more anime that covers the darker side of media, but that well very maybe because people don’t want to acknowledge that this happens. Every popular influencer/star you see is survivorship bias because for everyone that succeeds, thousands fail and are forgotten.

Babe wake up KevinNyaa is back lesgo I only watched the first episode of oshi no ko and although I felt it was a bit overrated and it didn’t really use its themes to its full potential (it felt more of a showcase more than an actual story around those themes) I have to admit somehow the ending really threw me off for some reason. Like, it made me feel bad (as in having nightmares about losing my own mother bad) and its been really long since an anime made me feel something as strong as that. So I guess this anime can take that. Anyways glad you’re back, hope to see you again soon

Apparently a theory popped in my mind, what if the stalker is the father? He could’ve possibly be but aqua and ruby were blonde, so the stalker’s could’ve had blonde hair but dyed it to black to not be attracted by ai, then when Akane was presented in the anime, she could be ai’s reborn self, she has a close colour palate to ai but the opposite, the stalker also could’ve been ai’s brother she married, after ai’a death, the children had to choose, ai’s path or the stalker’s path? Ruby took ai’s and aqua took the stalker’s and like how the stalker killed ai, aqua may kill ruby,well that’s my theory

Kana. ❤️❤️ However what made me pull back was 1. The isekai. 2. Dr is a secret fanboy for Ai. (Normally that doesn’t bug me but this show rubbed it the wrong way.) 3. (Personal level) Ai reminded me of maizono from danganronpa. If you played it you know what I mean. 4. Edgy Aqua felt so outta place. It’d be interesting to see other characters individually following their arcs on how the Japanese entertainment industry is like. If you liked the show that’s cool. 👍 For me, personally, if they gave Ai a different look and it wasn’t an isekai then yeah I would’ve been hooked!

Episode 1 was a rollercoaster bruh First i thought the MC would somehow get Ai to like him, after watching the scene on the rooftop and hearing she was single??? Maybe Ai asks for his number or help with the children or something (i didnt RLY consider that but i knew they both had to be in the story somehow) Then the MC says he wanna deliever the child which was weird asf ngl but ye later she said that he needed to make sure he was there, which was kinda weird cuz ofc common sense but whatever THEN he fucking starts running after this stalker into the forest late at night which aint never a good idea and he FUCKING DIES?!?! I was wondering WTF was going on cuz i had no idea what the show was even about i knew nothing I know the girl with cancer i dont even remember her name 💀 said that she wished she was reincarnated as ai's child but i didnt think much of it, but anyway when the MC got reincarnated i was suprised but not also, anyway i thought this will be interesting and i rly liked the genius talented child whatever idea and i thought this will definetly be an interesting story especially with Ai as the mother BUT. GUESS. WHAT AI FUCKING DIES bruh that was rly rly unexpected i cant even lie, i thought oh she has a weird ass stalker from before at her door what could go wrong💀💀 SHE GETS STABBED?!?!?! I was in disbelief that entire segment i thought she would somehow survive because it was EPISODE 1, IT STILL HAD 10 MORE EPISODES, especially cuz i thought the entire series revolved around her ANDDDD i continued to binge the rest of the series in 1 day which was quite entertaining, with like ep 3-5 being kinda boring but it was still a good show I was still depressed after Ai's death like the entire series tho And if u actually read this leave a like or reply cuz im actually quite interested if anyone cares

This is such a good anime, I'm just extremly happy that my favorite game (an indie game) is getting an anime from the same makers. It's such a pretty artstyle and it expresses how emotional the story of Oshi No Ko is so well, I'm really exited for it!

nah. those losers are the same people who hate slice of life just because there are no action scenes. people with brain will understand the charm of each of the episodes. every single one of them is as good. unfortunately people with brain are the silent majority, and the shonen brainrot ones are the vocal minority.

Welcome back Kevin 🎉 Since you’re back I was going to give you an idea that you can play with if your up for it. I came across your channel long ago, the video was about Your Lie In April and it was one of the reasons why I decided to go in studying disabilities. Well, it’s been a few years since then, and I’m happy to say that I am now a published disability studies scholar. I have published work on the school accommodation system and I even wrote my thesis on A Silent Voice :> Through becoming a disability scholar I found out about the common models in how we present disabilities and through learning about them I came across an interesting find and that is that anime is at the forefront of bucking and questioning all of the models in fun ways that no other medium is doing to this degree atm. I don’t want to go into too many details here, but there’s a project there that you can easily make videos on if you’d like. I’m here as a scholar and friend if you are interested and I wanted to offer my assistance if you’d like to do something like that or anything more “academic” haha. If you don’t want to do anything with this idea or don’t feel comfortable that’s cool too, but either way I’d like to thank you for inspiring me through grad school, you’ll forever be in my heart. ❤

Wow that is so awesome that you were able to go to grad school! Finishing any STEM degree is hard enough, I would know since I got my Engineering degree! As for your idea, I think thats a really unique and specific idea that maybe isn't suited towards a KZbin video but an actual study itself. Maybe you can write an article about it yourself? Haha.

No need to apology, you did not own us anything... maybe except a content in return of our so hard to give away subscriptions and views, lol. :v Joking aside, the day before you uploaded this video I was watching another one of yours, thinking - when this guy, who made such an interesting insight on this anime will upload something again - and here we have it. Turns out I found another aspect of Oshi No Ko I haven't realized when watching the first season. Thanks, keep it up. :) I can also relate to what you said at 19:19 and I wish people would finally unite someday, to prevent the appearance of such unemphatic behavior and lack of understanding in other people in the first place. It's in the other hand also hard to blame them for doing that, when they think what is presented to them is the reality or what they see they think is like given to them. I think if both sides were to understood at the same time it would be better in general. We're being taught to be flawless since our childhood (especially in schools), to thrive the best in our socioeconomic system people squeeze as much as they can from each other talents for the lowest cost possible. The cultural stigmas, stereotypes and judging by ones cover is so much ubiquitous. It's really hard to do what you really love, having no support from other people and the system, so having someone who could show it to us, like Aqua to Kana with his dance during the concert or the author of Oshi no Ko via Kana's character to you, so you could break from the hiatus, as we can see can turn the tables.

Thanks I appreciate it! And it's true with online culture being more and more prevalent in society whether its through TikTok, KZbin, Insta etc so many people now a days want to "make it" so they never have to work regular job. The content posted is beginning to seem as normal so any comments can just be shouted or hurled at you with no repercussions. Kinda sad that all it takes to stop online abuse is people to think "would I say this in person?" and 99% of the time it's no. But I'm glad this series also raises some hopeful messages about art and like you said, it helps inspire others to create genuine good things as well!
@Sebtt

@@KevinNyaa You're welcome, especially that you had to overcome many obstacles to post this video. :) It's definitely much harder to tell someone your feelings and thoughts in person, where you can anonymously tell whatever you want with no consequences to someone on the Internet, not even considering the consequences of telling these words (especially if said in the heat of the moment). I'm sure if "What goes around comes around" , "Do as you would be done by" , "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" would be taught in every school at the earliest, people would have more empathy for each other.

It must be a personality thing. I just don't understand so much favouritism towards Kana. Me, I barely care for her. Among the girls, I like Akane the most. I wish I could understand it, though, for she's surely a big part of this fiction.

@@KevinNyaa See, this is enlightening to me. I don't see her as the underdog at all. She got to the top at a very young age. I may have a problem with her insecurity issues, with her undermining herself.

Tbh, same. I don't also really care as much for Kana, she's a good character but nothing made me really invested on her unlike with Akane and Ruby. I guess the tsundere shtick of her character also doesn't really work for me. She also doesn't really seem or feel like an underdog to me and idk why. Ngl, I like her better when she's with Ruby than with Aqua. Whenever she's with Ruby, she seems more true to herself and that's my favorite scenes with her. She just feels authentic with Ruby.

Excellent video. Just a small note (and please correct me if I’m wrong), but I’m pretty sure the manga chapters where Akane goes through the bullying and attempts suicide were planned before Kimura’s death. 18:28 (edit: corrected a typo made by autocorrect turning Akane into Alana)

I watched the show for the first time yesterday, I absolutely love it, but I had to step away from it for a bit after watching episode 6, that shit got way too real. it just shows how awful we can really be when we're anonymous online, and what really sucks is we're only gonna get worse, empathy on the internet is slowly dying as we speak and it's really sad.

SPOILER: i saw a theory about ai's star eyes and for now, i think it makes sense because one of the most important factors of ai's success is her captivating eyes. According to the theory in question, i have a feeling that its because of her lies, the more she lies the brighter she shines. We can prove that from when akane came back to the set after her attempted su1c1d3 since she tried to pretend to be ai to help aqua without knowing she is her mother (because everyone keeps hating her for it) . Thats why akane had star eyes, because she is playing a lie. Before you ask "why didnt her star eyes fade away when she was performing while seeing her kids? Didnt she have a genuine smile?" While yes, maybe it is genuine but she is still performing and she has to keep up with the lies. Also, for those who want to know more about the lore and plot of oshi ko ko, i recommend analyzing the opening song and also reading the novel in the description which is ai's phone password "45510" Anyways i just realized i wrote a lot so yeah, cant wait till season 2 releases. Even though i already red the manga 1 too many times😅

As a Yoasobi fan I knew and liked the "Idol" song, but never watched the anime, thinking its some pop music thing.. decided to give it a go at 2 am... without even reading the description, synopsis, let alone reviews or spoilers... WOW. That was.. NOT EXPECTED. Binged the whole anime and than the manga, and while it's not as strong afterwards, I am still curious if there are any more hidden twists and turns to come. P.S.: Even the name of the piece has like 5 meanings, a little detail that makes it that much more amazing!
