41:25 that's exactly the point about this movie. He's in the beginning of his life as batman, full of hatred and vengeance desire, not pulling his punches, like even civilians were scared of him as that train guy being assaulted by the group was...so Batman is his true self at the time, not Bruce. By the end he understands that he must become a symbol of hope as he holds the hand of a civilian, being there to protect and help people, that probably making him more likely to be Bruce Wayne. That transition between his perspective on what he must be can also be noticed through the soundtrack, in the beginning with the raw singing and guitar of "Something in the way" but by the end with a more glorious part of the song alongside a violin

With the narration and darker tone, it felt like a Batman comic book brought to life as well.

Heath was the star in TDK as much as Bale was as Batman/Bruce. Which makes sense because Batman & Joker are iconic duos in general. So props to Nolan and his crew for picking the casts of TDK trilogy. Regardless, I'd still give it to The Batman for being a movie about Batman (despite how iconic TDK is. I dunno about that. It might be true, if TDK Batman is a different timeline than Year One/Year Two Batman. But TDK Batman was already widely accepted, if not enthusiastically supported, by the city's people and its cops/politicians (or a good portion of them, anyway). That implies a good bit of positive exposure that we don't really see, but that could have happened in the inter-movie period. It also skips-over the evolution of the "Batman" persona that eventually sees an angry orphan become a sophisticated operative capable of sustaining a double-life with an extremely high-profile identity, which is not an easy task and therefore made fertile narrative ground for the whole "Year One/Year Two" storylines. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that the two timelines focus on very different aspects of the Batman character. Which is great! I'll always take more good Batman stories over fewer.

To provide some needed clarity for your questions, the solution which Batman injected into himself during his confrontation with The Riddler's henchmen was likely adrenaline (aka epinephrine) which most certainly supercharged his aggression as well as his physical performance in that particular encounter of coming to Selena's rescue. I'm sorry. You don't know much about Batman or his backstory, motivations or reasoning of being, do you? Well....if you did, you would know that this is such an underrated film. The whole singular idea, by Matt Reeves, that this is a man who is unhinged and unhealthily obsessed with fighting the criminal element at night who is constantly beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands and with his unlimited amount of vast resources at his disposal. All he sees in the criminal element, in this corrupt town that his family helped to build and found dating back to the late 1800s, are the people who killed his parents as a young child making him an orphan. So, he dons the mantle of that which he fears the most, in the form of the Batman, after training for the majority of his life to rid his city of the evil that took his parent's lives. He dosen't know who was responsible for killing Thomas and Martha Wayne so every criminal he sees, to him, is the criminal that killed his parents on that fateful night when he was only 10 years old. He is addicted to this mission, like a drug, so as both Bruce and Batman, he spends all of his time, trying to succeed in this impossible task he has set up for himself. That's why he never sees the light of day as Billionaire Bruce Wayne and is a social outcast and pariah. He is a man driven by vengeance; by revenge. By the end of this journey, as we see Bruce on a physical, mental, emotional and psychological level and transform from a young, naive, impatient man who makes mistakes still early in his career as a crime fighter we see him then become something else by the end...a symbol of hope, an ideal, a form of inspiration that makes criminals terrified to step out at night and commit their atrocities that makes Gotham City one of the worst places to call home. A city with a history and a foundation steeped in corruption and crime that ties back to the Wayne family and and their vast fortune. It also plants the seeds that will give him the inspiration to step out in the light of day to transform into the billionaire, playboy industrialist more interested in dating models and driving fast cars in order to hide in plain sight so no one would be able to distinguish Bruce Wayme is actually the Batman. A man consumed by vengeance who transforms into a symbol of hope. Obviously a film inspired by the comic book mythos and Arkham video game series and Batman animated series from the 1990s. Ironically, a film consisting of character arc transformations and worldbuilding moments that is actually one of the most faithful Batman comic book movies to the original source material in the 1940s. Such as Detective comics issue 27 from 1937 and batman issue 1 in 1940 created by Bob kane, Bill finger and Jerry Robinson. Then, the new 52 comics such as court of owls and Zero year by tomeu morey, john ottley, Jim lee, Scott Snyder. Batman year one by jim lee, David Mazuchelli and Frank miller as well as Batman: the long halloween and Batman: ego and other tales. This essay is lterally just scratching the surface of why it's actually one of the best batman films yet up their woth the likes of the Dark knight from 2008.

Although this Batman also teams with Gordon and Alfred on a lot of planning/detective work. But I agree that the focus of this story is much more noir detective than action. That is partially attributable to the "Year Two" setting, though; as an outsider, he had to be much more self-reliant in the absence of co-operation from the city establishment and/or a functional Wayne Enterprises.

You can clearly see in the movie that people are expecting so much from Bruce. Riddler was trying to reach him through letters, Dory was trying to reach him when Alfred was hospitalised and Bella Real was trying to reach him at the funeral. I hope that Bruce realises that he can do so much with the Bruce Wayne persona in the third movie as I want the 2nd to have Bruce still struggle with the concept of fear that he was trying to give off on criminals while being a symbol of hope for people, which can serve Scarecrow as the second antagonist with Hush as a right-hand man. The city was underwater when it ended in the 1st, so Killer Croc could also be another side villain. We can also meet Harvey Dent in the second as well but have him being hospitalised in the 3rd movie and becoming Two-Face in the 4th as Reeves would probably want us to feel connected with Dent despite knowing his impending doom. If Bruce realises that he can do good by Gotham by not being Batman, then I feel like that it will be the perfect opportunity to use Mr Freeze as the antagonist where Bruce will not beat him as Batman but as Bruce Wayne. For the 4th movie, I think Reeves should target the physiological side of the villains, introducing Professor Pyg, Mad Hatter, Two-Face and Hugo Strange who claims to “fix” patients at Arkham, revealing the Joker, who appears more ‘human’ but has become more insane due to Hugo’s treatments. Finally, the 5th movie could be the Court of Owls which could be the “El Rata Alana” the Bruce learns in the end of the 2nd movie and has thus been building a case against them through the franchise, where it will end with Thomas Wayne secretly alive and running the Court of Owls and Deathstroke being hired by the court to kill Batman. I know that this seems far fetched, but I think it would be the perfect storyline for Bruce and his journey into becoming BATMAN.

This Batman is just Batman. Bruce Wayne peeks out only twice... trying to phone Alfred and at the hospital. The guy at the funeral who looked like Bruce was actually Batman in disguise. That's my favorite Batmobile. Looks like something a young Bruce could actually build in his bat cave . It's 9ft wide (2.7m) which is crazy That's what I love about this Batman film. It's more realistic. Bruce is 29 or 30 years old here , and only being batman for 2 years, I like how his tech isn't super crazy. He still kind of a rookie at all this , especially controlling his emotions

Yeah Colin Farrell plays the Penguin!!! Great performance. Very unrecognizable

Def go watch very special deleted scene with Barry Keoghan as Joker. Better than lil scene he’s in, he’s more refined in his portrayal found his laugh and voice. Omg the look is horrifying

you guys should watch the deleted joker scene from the movie - you get to see his face and everything

People should watch the animated batman movie "the long halloween" two parts are there, it shows how his father saved falcone in his house while as a kid he stood upstairs and watched it, was a nice touch.

Money doesn't mean happiness, ofcourse, but life is still a lot easier with it. If you don't believe me, try living without it.

Had to choose between eating and heating in the Scottish winter...not fun. I think the issue I have is that people assume that if you have money then all your problems go away. I do sympathise with Riddler in this movie though when he talks about Bruce Wayne. He has the money available to give him the privilege of being the forlorn orphan boy whereas there are countless other orphans who had to essentially suck it up and get on with life. -Steejo
@mastereppsreturns6586 Жыл бұрын
@@SuzySteejo I don’t think Riddler or anyone said or implied it solves all your problems. “Atleast the money makes it go down easy” I think he meant it just makes it easier than if you don’t have money or the basic necessities that it buys.. but I’m not sure since English isn’t my first language. But yes if he assumes that money would make it all okay then yeah I do not agree with that at all and you have a point

Also, not everyone knows the Batman is real. Some people liken him to the boogeyman. Something created to strike fear into the hearts of criminals. This is only a year and a half into him being the dark knight. He, as a character, his legend, his whole BruceWayne facade, is still growing and evolving.

Btw it’s a weird take saying bruce should have gotten over what happened to his parents lol like u know that’s why he’s Batman right lol clearly if he got over it he wouldn’t be a costumed vigilante. In the comics they do make it seem like Batman is his true identity. There’s a lot of ways of thinking about it. The core it is Bruce but yes this version more is hyper focused on being the Batman that there is no room for a normal life. And I like that this movie he does realize he needs to be more than just vengeance he needs to inspire hope

They hinted about or that we could see a few different villains. Hush, Bane, Two-Face. Personally I’m hoping for Poison Ivy/Mr. Freeze. Court of Owls and Scarecrow would also be cool

I can't stand when people mindlessly repeat "the dark knight trilogy was the perfect batman". No it wasn't. Nolan's Batman takes SO MUCH liberties it's ridiculous. They're good movies, but mediocre Batman movies.

You guys are a fun couple, and I enjoy your content. However, I think Suzy totally missed the mark with the film’s intent on Bruce Wayne’s story arc, or lack there of. It’s year 2 Suzy, he’s still suffering from some type of PTSD, and running around all night kicking the crap out of criminals. He’s not supposed to be smiling!!!😂 The Bruce Wayne persona hasn’t been developed yet. Matt Reeves did this intentionally, with the idea that it would be a trilogy, and his story arc would be developed more with each film. The reason this Batmobile isn’t a freaking tank, is because it’s easier to buy parts without them being traced, and would cause less suspicion when ordering parts. This is just the beginning, all Batman’s tech will be upgraded in the next film. Merry Christmas 🎄

The dark knight movies are good but they aren't batman movies and that's fact, the story is good but it's not a batman story. The batman is the best batman movie for me

Also, I feel like overseas the bomb scene is viewed less realistically if you're not aware of the pizza bomber news story in the U.S. which the situtation is based off of. The police essentially acted beat for beat exactly the same way in the IRL situation as they do in this movie. They ignored all the weird notes and just backed away and waited until the timer ran out and the guy's head blew up. (Actually, IRL they performed even worse than they did in the film. IRL they didn't even bother calling the bomb squad in time, so the little useless robot wasn't even there in time)
