What is the darkest romance you’ve ever read?! 📚 🖤
@sarahpatil61322 жыл бұрын
I think it would be Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline. Bit also there was this book I read on wattpad. And it has been almost four years since I read that book actually. So I can't really remember the name of the book nor the author. But the girl (female main character) was abused/bullied/almost killed almost everyday. And she was sold to this guy who the family were in debt with. And in the starting he is not very good to her either. Until he finds out what has happened to her. So on and so forth. There also this vampire empire book I read on wattpad which I also felt was very toxic. I think the name of the book was 'Married to the vampire king' and I am pretty sure you can already tell what the book is about. But it was so dark in the starting. Also so horrifying because of the guy (male main character) was doing to her in the starting because he thought she cheated on him and betrayed him and all that. But it gets better gradually. Also 'Lonely God' on wattpad was also so good. It wasn't that dark or anything but it was still dark. Like not the darkest but still quite dark. If you know what I mean. 😅 Anyways I love watching your videos. I am always waiting for your videos to real. And try to be the first one to watch it. Because I love them just so so so much. I hope you keep doing this. And I love you and your videos and yeah...bye 😅

@@HonestFiction oh my God ! What ?!! Are you serious ?? Have you like really really never heard of wattpad before ??? I thought basically all the booktubers knew about it since it was so famous. But it's fine things happen it's life 😅 it's an app which allows you to write as well as read books for free and it also requires you to pay many a times ? Yeah that's how it is as long as I remember. Definitely check it out. Oh and thank you for replying to me. I didn't expect a reply from you this quick. 😂😅

I'm not a dark rom reader, I very much err to the waff-ey side of fiction, but!!! I've been researching more about it cause the bad rep it gets (that's worsening in the past few years, I guess) parallels to the shitshow the antiship versus proship phenomena happening in (mostly, but not limited to) US fandoms. I'm happy to find booktubers talking about dark romance books in a joyous and entertaining way. I can see the appeal of reading about darker topics 😊

I love the dark! Have read and loved four on your list,the rest on my Infinitesimal tbr! Life of Anna by Melissa Honeycutt is probably one of the Darkest that I've encountered. I also happen to enjoying cheating in my fiction,Sea of Ruin by the brilliant Pam Godwin does double duty...actually more like quadruple,but mention of the other genres will spoil. I likely sounded just as iffy and apologetic 10 years ago when I encountered my initial dark captive and MC reads!😆

Your summary of King of Flesh and Bones (thanks) reminds me a tiny bit of Land of the Beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith.

Hmmm I don't ever go to dark cause I'm a little pansy 😀, I think maybe Sugar and Skulls or one of Adelaide Forrests Bellandi Crime books.

The darkest book I've read so far is "Whispers in the dark" by LeTeisha Newton. The heroine is 16 when she gets kidnapped by a man. It turns out that this man kidnaps girls, rapes them and when he gets bored with them he kills them. He also has a son from one of them. Anyway 2 years go by like this. Until one day the heroine with the help of the son kills the man. The son goes to jail after taking the blame for her (since he believes that they are in love). 10 years later the girl has changed cities and her name and she is working as a therapist with sex offenders. On the side she kills them when they show signs of committing rape or murder. Finally the son gets out of jail and he finds her. After a little stalking he discovers her killing hobby. He then imprisons her and rapes her. He tells her that only he can understand her and she accepts him (just like that) After that they start a relationship while also killing people together. It wasn't terrible. I gave it 3 stars. If you don't have a problem reading about torture, rape and murder I would recommend. It's also pretty spicy.

I can say I did not read many dark romances till now, a few, the first was Tears of Tess, this book made me very uncomfortable and I didn’t like it. Haunting Adeline wasn’t that uncomfortable and I loved it and another book I dnf, Descent by Sam Mariano, I just couldn’t get past anything in this book…Sicko was for me also dark because of what was done to the heroine. I might check out some from your list at some point…thank you for the recommendations

The worst dark romance I read was Pennies by Pepper Winter. I couldn’t finish it.

Haha I’ve been told by a few people to avoid that one! 😅

Enthralled was nasty and unpleasant but I gave it 4 stars anyway, because how well done it is and how excellent the chemistry is was undeniable. Giana Darling knows what she's doing that even I couldn't rate it down. Yikes though!

I LOVED Haunting Adeline!!! but Hunting Adeline didn't hit the same way.. I didn't like it as much.

Tortured Whispers was also pretty dark. It's taboo story about a biological uncle & his niece. It's not as bad as some on your list but depressing all the same

Agreed! I almost DNF’ed Hunting Adeline but gave Haunting Adeline 5 stars!
