15:28 in a recent interview (in which he was promoting Alan Wake 2) Sam Lake mentioned that he's always drawn or written stuff in real life and then photographed and put into the games. All the whiteboard scribbles in Control and [REDACTED]'s crazy theory whiteboard was his hand-writing. He then mentioned that he did fake children's drawings for Max Payne 2 that were hung up in the hospital. There they are

Glad to see you revisiting Max Payne again Mapo👍 MP1 and MP2 were so much fun and part of my childhood, so I hope you finish off this amazing series with Max Payne 3. Btw, a very useful tip to remember is that Bullettime has been upgraded in this game. Try not to get caught in groups because you can die quickly. Its best to reload in bullettime for matrix style reloading while in intense shootouts. The more enemies you kill in bullettime, the more the hourglass fills up and turns yellow. Whats interesting is that the more enemies you kill in slowmotion, the faster you move while they start slowing down more. If youre on a killing streak, eventually youll see cinematic 360 reloads. Its pretty sick man😎

If you're having trouble in gunfights, the bullet time mode (where you activate it and you aren't diving) is good if you keep moving, it allows you to run out into the open and have much more control if you get shot and you don't have to worry about standing back up/being vulnerable on the floor. If you activate it and stand still, it does literally nothing for you. You can also use it as a panic button in the case of an ambush, but again, don't stand still.

Thank God it's a PC version. Console ports are simply subpar and don't do these classics justice. There's not a lot of tweaking needed to get PC versions running smoothly on modern rigs. While MP3 might be mechanically superior and features a great soundtrack, nice story, and atmosphere, MP2's tone and atmosphere are still very striking and highly enjoyable. And that main theme is one of the most iconic of all time. This will be a fun ride!

Played the living shit out of Max Payne 1 back in the day but only got around to the sequel in 2022. It was a blast, aged pretty well. Remedy touch in full force, and some amazing GOAT tier levels. May you enjoy just as much, GLHF. PS : mirrors are more fun than television.

You seem to thrive playing several of these older games. As a kid growing up in the 90's, seeing you play Max Payne, Dino crisis, Splinter cell and of course Metal Gear Solid really warms my heart. I do have a few games I would love seeing you play, though I find it rather unrealistic expecting you to do so. Still nice to just share my thoughts though. Ape escape (PS1, preferably the PAL version as the voice acting is better) - Not the greatest game but has a ton of charm and is one of, if not the very first, game to require the dual shock making it quite groundbreaking. Also has no good let's plays at all and the franchise is weirdly enough connected to Metal Gear Solid. Medievil (PS1/PS4) - Again, not the greatest game but also has an abundance of charm. Lots of neat little details along with fun simple gameplay. Final Fantasy IX - Considering how fond you are of FF7 you have probably played this already. My all time favorite game only tied with Hollow knight. Just amazing all around. The Thing (PS2) - An absolute gem of a game. How this is so unknown is beyond me. The way it plays of the movie (which is amazing as well) is so good, and I enjoyed every minute playing through this game. None of these games would gather much of an audience I'm afraid. But it certainly would be fun to watch.

I remember playing this game and constantly dying because I would hit caps lock instead of tab to take a painkiller. Also, I tried a few times back in the day to get through Twin Peaks, but I never could. I always ended up confused and losing interest. Maybe I'll give it another go one of these days, but my watchlist is sooooo long.

Listening to McCaffrey narrate Max's hard-boiled lines with such sincerity and grit gives me so much joy, but also makes me sad now. Those remakes just ain't gonna be the same without him :/ I imagine they'll recast the role, which honestly is a good choice. If the story is mostly the same, they could probably just re-use his performance from this game. At least have that option (listen to the original VO or the new one). Better to recast and have a new actor give their spin on the role, while paying proper tribute to the original actor's performance instead of using shoddy AI to crap out a cheap, soulless imitation of McCaffrey's performance.

It wont work to remake such an old game and keep everything the same without a single addition to the script. It's not the good type of remake, no matter how good the original game is. And there is an interesting potential to expand the script in this particular case where the original maker is still in the company after so long. So that is a possibility that has to be explored imo.

Cry Payne and let Slip the Detectives of Noir! Really Thrilled to see you play this. Small tip beating the Game on the hardest Difficulty changes the Ending slightly, not sure if its worth beating the game multiple Times but surely watching.

You should be using the right click slow-mo more as that is where all the cool gunfights are at and how the game was designed. The dive is for last resort to get to cover or for last bit of bullet-time as it's so limited. Time slows more as you stack up kills during the right-click slow-mo. I hope you haven't played the whole game like this already 😂

I’m all honestly if they remake max payne, which I believe they are, they should keep the new max face. It’s unique and I don’t think based on anyone. Gives him his own face not Sam lakes. Nothing wrong with same lake I just don’t think his face fits on a remade max Payne.

All Max Payne faces are based on real-life people. Sam Lake in Max Payne. Timothy Gibbs in Max Payne 2. James McCaffrey (the voice of Max Payne) in Max Payne 3. Also, if there is one thing that Alan Wake 2 proves... it is that Sam Lake's face + McCaffrey's voice is STILL a solid fit. But ofc, I imagine they're gonna get a new voice actor for the remakes. It is the best course of action. And then maybe keep an option to toggle the original VO. As for the face... The best case scenario would be an option for the player to pick one of the three faces at will. But I suppose we shall see.
