Dream cars always seem to become project cars. The gifts that keep on giving! Gotta love them regardless. Engine bay can go ether way, I think body color looks best when the bay has room. That's what my brother did to his 68 fastback and it looks great. If its a crowded bay then I don't think it maters as much. We have had to do some similar welding on his also with the floor pans, weld some holes in the gas tank and so on.

I love it when body shops just paint and or seal right over the rust. Good luck Nate!!!

Getting vibes of the XR2 I had from 2011-2018... every MOT was a sphincter-clenching nightmare, which cured me of classic cars forever. On the plus side it trebled in value!

Very sorry to hear how much of a project this has become. Its an amazing car and I'm excited for you to have it all finished. It's your dream car and you were at least able to get to for a good deal. Look forward to seeing your reaction when it's all complete. Also looking forward to seeing your new car.

Expensive but well worth it as the datsun is a really rare car. Bit of a blow with it needing to be restored with floor pans and the boot needing to be rebuilt. But when it's finished Mr H will end up with a great looking car. Plus more content for us on the channel!

That’s quite heart breaking, Mr. H. I hope that by the end of it, they fix it all and you finally have your dream car. JASPER! WhosAGoodBoy?? YesYouAre!

Not unsurprising really, the metal on old japanese cars was trash and the body parts often were sealed poorly so moisture would get in everywhere and rot from within. Most enthusiasts cars end up as a project car sooner or later. My 1954 Chevy 210 turns 70 years old this year and I've started preparing for it to go under the knife if it craps the bed. Already have a Chevy 350 v8 and gearbox waiting just in case...

It looks like your car was "restored" by the same school of South East Asian bodyshop workers that mine was haha Respect for having it done though it'll be fantastic once it's finished!

Honestly the only saving grace is how cheap it was initially! Which im guessing is also how you view yours. If I got this from Japan, holy shit I'd be so upset paying thirty grand or so for it 😂
@jakethepeasant9 ай бұрын
Yeah I'd be unhappy if I paid Japanese prices for mine 😅 luckily, like yours, it was cheap so I knew it would be a project and I haven't been surprised at the state of it (yet)
