The Daune Italian razor review and shave 👍

I'm shaving with an inexpensive razor from Italy, which I've called Duane as I'm unsure of the correct pronunciation. It is a barbers shavette style razor which gave me a very close shave.

That shavette is the preferred tool in the video: THE PERFECT SHAVE by Nomad Barber. Seeing you using it reminded me of some of the videos I was watching when trying to learn straight razor shaving for the first time.

Hi Rolf. I watched that video and it does seem very effective indeed, as a barbers razor. It worked quite well, I have used it since, it was just a little fiddly for me but never the less, an interesting razor to try. Take care 👍

@@FriendshipShaving yeah... I also take care not to cut myself, and I don't, but I cannot make it effortless. Lol. Yes I have gotten myself one. Really cool. Is as aggressive as the plastic one I would say, but feels way better on the skin because is metal. The plastic cap feels a bit too rough for me, therefore the chrome is a winner. Are you interested in one? I can send it to you.

I’ve just tried the voskhod blade for the first time and they are great. Well priced to but I only seem to get 2 shaves before they tug . Great video Mark as always. 👍🏻💈

Hi David. I love Voskhods but I have heard a few people complain about the tugging; I could never understand it, at all but this one certainly does. It's a bit odd. I've got six packets so I hope they are not all like that!😮Two shaves is really not enough for one blade.

I thought that Mark. I can get 5 good shaves from my feather blades but it’s funny because the new voskhod I’m using now just did it’s 3rd and no tug unlike the previous 2. Maybe it’s just a inconsistency in quality. I’ve for 4 packs so I’ll keep using them. Hope you have a great weekend. 👍🏻💈

As others have said, a very patient shave--I admire your fortitude! I've now seen several videos of people using the Daune, and to me it just seems more and more like the Bic disposable of shavettes. Re. the Voskhod, I got a pack of them recently and really disliked them--they felt both dull and rough. Surprised me, since I had heard lots of good things--maybe a dropoff in quality? The BIC disposable of shavettes - now that's a title you wouldn't want. You know, I love Voskhods. All the ones I've had have been amazing. I used a microscope to photograph the edge once, it has an amazing edge normally. I couldn't understand how people were having issues with them but this one was really rubbish. It's very strange. I just hope the rest of the packets are not the same.

Easier to use on both sides of face if you separate from handle. Left with handle similar to the Razorine.

Good afternoon Jill, I hope you're well. I can sympathise with your upload issues mine used to take six or seven hours until I recently got them to put me onto a fibre connection, which has made all the difference. Now, I have a cup of coffee and it's finished!

Great shave, Matey. I never really warmed up to the idea of using a shavette. I figure I'll just leave the barber use it to tidy up my neckline after a haircut. LOL. Voskhod blades were a favourite of mine but I found them to be a little haphazard as to what kind of edge I get so, I gave up on them mostly. I tend to stick to Nacets almost exclusively these days (though I'm pretty fond of Gillette silver blues as well)

Hi Mark. Thank you very much. I've never had an issue with Voskhod's until now; I opened another packet and while it was better than the one in the video, it wasn't as good as I'm used too. Perhaps I've just been lucky (shrugs). I was going to order a 100 but if I got a bad batch I'd be a bit peeved, to say the least. I think I'll hold off. Have a good week buddy. Cheers 👍

Well done for giving it ago, but i found it does get easier the more you use it. Interestingly geofatboy is selling a similar chrome and brass razorine which locks identical but on a stick, and he says its simple as long as you remember to shave always with the nut facing out.Take care Mark, great video as always :)

Hi Gordon. I'm sure it does get easier and to be honest it wasn't a bad shave. I have used it again after recording the video and I'm quite coming around to the idea of a shavette that uses a standard razor blade. I've recently watched a few barbers using this razor and I've seen the one that Geo uses; they both seem like a great tools for a barber. It's been very interesting to use it. Thanks pal. Mark! Gee...as per Mr Ps comment, I reckon you were game using that razor:-). Without the cut throat styled handle, it seems more to me like razor a woman would use to remove hair on her legs. But fair play for giving it a go. At one point I was cringing wondering if you were going to cut yourself. But go Prorasso:-). And as normal...thanks for enjoyable video. Cheers!

Interesting. I was curious about trying one of those. I’m glad you can flip the handle around. Have you ever tried a Razorine? Similar concept, but without the scales. I get excellent and enjoyable shaves from it, though blade exposure is a bit fiddly.

I haven't tried a Razorine but I am thinking about getting a Zazor razor which is a similar idea. It is very cheap.

Geofatboy has been reviewing a similar shavette called the Razorine...it doesn't fold though so it's suitable for left or right hand use...i dunno how you stopped yourself from swearing after biting those ulcers bud...i know I would have turned the air blue.

I've seen one of those but that also seems to be better suited for a barber. Yeah, that really did hurt 🙄 I don't quite know how I managed to bite it so hard.

You know David, I just can't make up my mind about shaving oil. I use it sometimes, I'm a bit worried it will be absorbed into the natural hair of my brush, so it really just gets used with a synthetic. I can't decide if it helps me or not. I hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Take care 👍

It was a little aggressive but not overly so and I suspect if you were used to using this type of shavette, then it wouldn't be a problem. There are much better shavettes on the market though.
