@Orcaluv26 He did do plenty of wrong and you’d be a fool to say he didn’t do anything wrong. He took his sorrow and rage as a excuse to forfeit his duties and unjustly torture and punish the dead of the sea. He saw his own sorrow as a excuse to put it on to others. He’s tragic, but the truth is he is not what one should or automatically become in that situation.

Still does. A back story on him Calypso and Jack Sparrow. Which I think this whole series was more about Calypso getting back at Jones and using Jack as her instrument to do so. I feel like the black people who surrounded her water house were those she rescued from captivity and Jack helped. Perhaps that how Jack and Beckett crossed paths. Beckett knew a lot about the heart and his story fixes in there too. I think there’s a lot of economy in such a story.

This pierces my heart in every way. You can sincerely feel the emotional turmoil the character went through during the whole theme. When Jack, Elizabeth, and Norrington open the big chest/crate that Jones kept his heart’s chest inside of, you can see Elizabeth pick up an unopened letter, and below it are a stack of sealed letters…and dead flowers. Jones wrote love letters and tried to send them and flowers to his love, but as she was a goddess, there was nowhere to send them, and so he buried them when he cut out his heart, as evidently the pain of seeing the tokens he had tried to show his love for her with was too much to bear as well.

There's 3 Types of Villains. Truly Evil. Understandable, Relatable or Tragic. Anti-Hero. Davy Jones fits in with the second option, he's on par with Darth Vader for example. I think these are the best kind of villains because it shows that they could have been "good" but they have fallen due to life events, their mental state is the cause for them becoming like they are, his monstrous appearance is also a metaphor for his mind dealing with what happened. Saying that though, Truly Evil villains are always really interesting to me because they go beyond the par with disturbing and enjoying what they do, sadistic even. I think the best truly evil villain I've seen is Palpatine.
