It's a darn shame because this had immense potential and while the characters don't look groundbreaking the environments came out pretty impressive. That said this clearly turned out to be a disaster and it's really just odd how the devs just immediately gave up and shut down their studio just a few days after launch? Like literally years of all that work just down the drain? Something doesn't seem right. Adding to this had they released this in beta and worked out the kinks they probably would've had a functional game and most of the bugs worked out in just a few months??

I agree with the fact that Gameranx has does a fine job at game reviews, especially compared to most other critics on this platform, but they’re not completely unbiased, wich makes perfect sense honestly because you have business relations to maintain and you can’t just outright completely trash a company without expecting some sort of repercussions, but i do think that is a thing to keep in mind when watching these types of reviews. I've followed the story behind it a bit and it wasn't a game, not orginally. They made a couple of fake trailers (probably in UE5) and got people to invest money. Then they realised they had to make an actual game because one of the investors stipulated it or they'd be taken to court (again). That's why they released that TLOU rip off asset flip gameplay footage, continually delayed it, went from full release to early access and why this is nothing like the game they originally advertised.

Like many developers, they release a trailer that is a slice of game , one reason is to gauge interest. This ‘slice’ just happened to be very popular, because it looked very good. Then the devs went radio silent and everyone knew there was no possible way to deliver a full game like the original gameplay. Cyberpunk’s first footage was rendered aka not in-game, a lot of Ubisoft downgrades were the same deal though they have been better about it.

One thing that really gets to me in games like this, is the tiny issues that are just all over the place... Something as simple as having different loot in different types of containers make sense! If you see a red or green cross, that container should have things like painkillers and bandages, while a toolbox should have screws and ducttape! But in this game, any random container has completely randomized loot from the look of it, as shown in the video when he loots a first aid cabinet, and gets two powertools from it for some reason... So where a good game lets you know to look for the things you want in specific types of containers, this games makes you loot EVERYTHING for a random chance at the type of loot you are looking for!

Fun fact, the map you play the game on, is allegedly a unity asset. One released in 2021 if I recall, and all they did was flip it, so their whole speech of being *In development for 5 years* is under scrutiny.

Hey man if a game doesn't get money and attention the game doesn't get released it's why pre orders exist but yes research before preorders I've never once regretted a preorder most recently it's Frontiers of Pandora and I'm glad I bought it it's such a great game

I watch a lot of videos (reviews, gameplay, commentary gameplay, etc.) when games come out. I will say that most “reviews” I’m seeing tells me the game is trash, but cannot give me the minor details that I’d like visuals with like you guys do. Like you guys always do. The leaning mechanics, mantle mechanics, and geometrical mistakes are things I’d like to see. That whole section of the video actually is Falcon just listing problem after problem and showing me why it’s a problem lol. Thank you guys. Top tier game reviewers in my opinion.

I agree fully, no melee, no vaulting, we got sold an extraction shooter not the open world we were promised, server issues were also a thing, then the world just feeling empty and strangely the camp we could have was also weird and the fact you had to have a loading screen to get there also sucked. This should show us how good Dayz was even back in the broken days.

I'm making an open world game myself and I know how hard it is, when you plan it out it seems easier than what it ends up being and everything takes 10x longer. I think their plan was to make something marketable, and they invested everything into making it look good, the development took longer than they thought and they had to release, well this, and they thought to just make it look presentable rather than playable. I'm assuming they pivoted from MMO to an extraction shooter because they wouldn't have enough budget to make an MMO, so they thought better to release something than nothing. Indie studios don't have the budget nor experience of large studios, so many people just make up things as they go, there's no tutorials on how to make open world games, like how to handle spawning of NPCs, persistence of the world when you leave an area, saving etc. It's a real shame that the devs didn't make the game they wanted to make and it's really sad that the studio is closing down

@@Ghost.2G extraction shooters are bad in general, a bad game in a bad genre doesn't change anything. No such thing as an mmo shooter lol. They are all extraction lites or extraction likes. Unless you taking about competitive shooters which are usually not extraction shooters or MMOs. Even planetside with it's scale can't call itself an mmo shooter. MMOFPS was just a made up word to drive up investment during the ps2-3 era. They all play like typical online shooters with varying mechanics and game modes. Even destiny, Warframe, borderlands and division 2 were reduced to being called looter shooters, not MMOs even though they can argue that they are closer to MMMo than actual shooters marketed as MMO.
