In my opinion they showed a lot of single player gameplay footage in the early days either not knowing or worse did know and did it anyways. Because alot of what they showed has a medium to hard complexity to pull off in a single player game but once you go multiplayer the difficulty goes up 100x. Things like rootmotion, mud physics, car dynamics etc.

not 100x.. i did some game networking and you have alot of control in what to sync and what not.. it's not as super hard as you think especially with coop games.. there are so many solutions/tools cut half of the effort needed for networking. for example the farm where grass move away.. you can make it happen locally on each player pc.. no need to sync that up. the main reason they fked up so hard is they have really understimated the scope of their game and they didn't have talented staff from start..so they were cutting corners from beginning..

My best guess as to why these things didn't make it, giving them the benefit of the doubt... They updated to a newer version of Unreal Engine 5 that whatever assets they were using when they made the trailer, did not update in time for launch or testing. And didn't function so they had to just remove them in order to make a build that functioned at all. This often happens with physics or environmental based assets you can download. They are designed with a specific versions code-base in mind, and functionality changes. Functions get changed or removed, and if you don't modify your code to accommodate those updates, the blueprint will simply fail to compile. So you just bypass those particular things, and it is what it is. For the mud, that would probably be a displacement texture and other effects that were not updated for whatever material properties changed between versions.

@@md_vandenberg you’re not wrong that snowrunner is dedicated to be more of a physics game but for example Mudrunner came out in 2017 and it’s an indie title. Yet they could do mud physics better. That and the games were open world as well. I can’t use example of a AAA title because obviously they would have a larger budget. Just cause the game was dedicated to said physics doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Especially if you had marketed it as such. Hell Rumble Roses had better mud physics and we all know that game was stinky.

As a professional game developer, i can tell you that no, they don't seem like they removed the features, in my perspective it looks like they replaced the actual game framework with something else. I'm wondering whether someone just took down the source code or something and they either A. Rolled back to a commit years ago where it was mostly prototype B. Slapped in a game framework that is similar to many GTA clones that you prolly can fetch of a engine store. C. They worked on 2 different frameworks (DEMO, RC) and they couldn't incorporate the demo framework mechanics to the RC

From IXBT channel. Former developers contacted with them and told their story. If this not true two yakut brothers free to sue them. This scam only for investers and majority of developers because most of steam players was refunded no matter how much they played. Developers were mostly juniors with 600-800 usd. When they came in company this game was positioned as single player like last of us. Then after a year bosses came and told that game will be net AAA game. In same time they played Resident Evil and demanded to remake propnight and day before in dark mode. Then they played last of us and demanded to make similar mechanics in game. Then they wanted to make game more "rich" and demanded to add many stores with premium brands. Then they played spiderman and demanded to remake game to be more bright like in spiderman. Game was full of not optimized code and instead giving time to refactor they demanded to migrate to unreal engine 5 for two weaks before release. After they did it 2 days were remained before release. 5 testers were testing 24 hours this shitty game. It was still slow so they throwed many assets they made in the trash. That is why they bought many premade assets. Brothers was toxic asf. If you tried to argue that team cant make their ideas they were fired. Developers were humiliated and burning out a lot. Even volounteur testers they managed to get burn out on propnight. Top favorite quotes from these two brothers: 1. I came to tell you to fix something. But i forgot. You look into and fix by yourself. Tomorrow i will check. 2. Team that working on facial animation is too slow. Lets fire one of them so team would get boosted. 3. Join our team. You will have experience and name in game's title. It will help to boost your career.( now they have game that looks like shit with bought assets) 4. This sunday you may be free. 5. Three things you cant hide: the sun, the moon and the truth.

To anyone wandering why this seemingly were removed from the game even tho they existed in a trailer, if you ever worked with game engines you would know that simply buying a marketplace asset is not enough to "implement" it into your game (well for the most part), if you buy something on unreal or unity store you need to have a skill level in programming/art in order to implement it into your game and optimise it to the point where your computer doesent explode when trying to run the finished build of the game, developers of day before did not have the technical skill to do so, therefore they could show you the "gameplay" inside the editor but could not transfer it into working build of the game.

The funny thing to me is that, if they already had all of those UIs and Animations resources already done because of the Trailers they showed to the people, implementing all of it into the working game would be just a typical workday for just a few game devs with an average salary for a few months (most of the missing gameplay is pretty basic stuff, not that hard to create). The mud physics could get a little bit tricky, unless one of those game devs already is into shaders and stuff but still. I guess they really just wanted to screw people and themselves over, and I don't know why, for fun maybe? huh?

And the reason for taking it only a few months or even faster is that most of the art, animations, or even setup of the scenes with lighting were already done. Most of the time, you do that stuff but in-engine, just based on some 2D concepts, and those trailers they did, I'd say is the best kind of concept you could give someone as a reference as to how everything should look and work like. And the fact that most of these resources were bought from some marketplace does not matter, they still had them.
