It’s crazy that the fandom is in an uproar… get it… at this point of the story when I quietly drop this series at the start of this war arc. But I got back into the series because of this meltdown. My thoughts are that this is actually very sweet and I felt it was a solid way to tie toga and Ochaco’s characters arc in a nice bow. It didn’t betray any themes that were in the show prior to my departure of this series.

And what actually would be the “betrayal”? Like…people need to sit down and look at the story as a whole: Each arc Deku encounters one or two people who have a huge issue with hero society or even suffered under it. Starting with Allmight himself, to Kota, to Nagant to Gentle, to Nighteye, to Shiggy and ultimately the entire league. The league while being radicalised extremists and therefore terrorists, do have a few points and it is no coincidence, that the older Deku gets, the more he realises the social issues around him. Cause that is part of growing up. It makes Deku question if ideals based on lies can still be ideals and what actually makes a hero. Which has been the question from the start. It’s not running in a situation without thinking, or flashy powers or self sacrifice. Even Allmight got that wrong. It’s TRYING to reach out a hand to help someone, and putting aside pride, political disagreements, oppositions, race and believes and see the human and their origin again, behind the label. Even if it is a bother or will not benefit you. And during the series we learn that all of 1A understand this through their hardships, their companionship and their origins. Deku gets his hero academia not just from the school, his teachers and classmates but also from the “villains” he encounters. Plus…personally everything after the war arc is a ten out of ten for me, so I really don’t get it. People just judge the series based on what they think will happen…like the whole thing with invisible girl and the traitor…just to be blown away by what Hori has in store. No man is created equal (first words of the series), but we all can ask for help and reach out a hand to help others. I believe this will be the end message. And I cannot wait, to see Minas moment, young for one, Shoto freezing an entire city, Dabi melting himself and the statue, gearshift and all the gentle, Nagant, Mirko and Bakugo moments animated. Like what the hell. It’s all really epic and the message of the series in general is great as well. But that’s just my subjective opinion.

If Toga really died to Save her first and last friend that wasn't part of the league, then this is just a powerful message screaming "A sacrifice is more than just saving someone, it's about giving them hope so they can continue on for them" if anyone noticed it, Toga gave Ochako her All Might doll! (unless it was Ochako's own that she got from Izuku and it dropped during their fight and she just gave it back to her in her final moments) that's even more of an emotional impact because if again Toga died, then she died saving her own Hero, aka Ochako... bro I am starting to cry now God dammit.

The fact that Ochako managed to get through to Toga and Toga sacrifices her life to save Ochako is really powerful yet emotional at the same time. I’m glad that Toga managed to realise that what true love really means. Though I doubt Toga would be alive after what she has done but then again anything could happen.

I always had a feeling that Toga was going to die and I even said several times I thought she was going to die. But I was also hoping I was wrong and she wouldn't die. I was hoping Horikoshi could've found a way to have Toga live. Even though I wish Toga would live, the way she sacrificed herself to save Ochako was so beautiful and so emotional. It's the perfect way to have Toga go out and atone for her sins.

I kinda predicted Toga would save Uraraka via a blood transfusion. Honestly, this just adds another layer of tragedy to her character. If her parents had bothered to actually raise Toga instead of treating her like a monster, she could've been saving lives rather than taking them. Using her Quirk to give blood transfusions would've made her a great rescue hero, or at the least, a great nurse. While I agree with your points, I'm not quite convinced she's dead. That panel with Hawks and the Twice clones makes me think he may have a role to play in saving Toga, maybe donating some of his blood to keep her alive. While he did what he felt was the right thing at the time, Hawks did genuinely like Twice and regretted that he had to kill him. This, I think would provide some closure for Hawks. He couldn't help Twice, but he can help the person Twice cared about.

The pain Toga feels for using the quirk of those she transforms into is the pain of love: her love. It's a contradiction within her that is only now being resolved... her feeling the desire to hurt the ones she loves. But there was another alternative that she wasn't able to come to because no one understood nor was willing to understand and help guide her, with her parents failing her the most. The emotional pain Toga had to endure was incredible. The reason her mind broke is very understandable because she was burdened with a hell of an amount of weight, too much for a child to carry. It doesn't justify her killing anyone. She's still guilty, but it gives some understanding to how and why she was corrupted into becoming who she was. She's an amazingly written tragic character.

Toga is my favorite character in this series, because she was such a deep and complex character with though initially unclear motives, are some of the most relatable. She just wanted to be accepted, loved and understood. This is why I love this series. These characters feel more real and the story isn't afraid to go into the darker side of things and take risks.

To be perfectly fair, when you are using someone else's blood in a transfusion you tipicly don't kill the other person to do so. You only need enough to stabilize their condition. Toga could very easily survive this, and I honestly don't think her surviving would cheapen this chapter at all. The gesture of putting someone's wellbeing before her own shows growth in itself. You don't have to die for it to have meaning.

Given that Ochako was bleeding out to the point she was suffering brain death, yeah Toga would need to give her enough blood to not die. If you lose 50% of your blood you will die. So Toga needed to give Ocako more than half her own blood to save Ochako.

I'm just happy to hear that Ochako lives. With the exception of Naruto x Hinata and Lan x Maylu, all of my favorite ships outside of romance stories have either ended in tragedy or never seen any real development. I was absolutely certain Ochako would die at some point after her confession in Season 1 that she was in it for the money. I thought for sure she would be hunted down for it by the League of Villains, but she wasn't...and then we got to this. When I saw this video pop up in my feed, I thought "This is it. The heartbreak moment." So, so happy to see that I was wrong.

Nice, another Lan x Maylu shipper! Tbh, it's rare to find any Megaman Battle Network love in general, even after the collection released. But yeah, there are a handful of ships I can name that I supported, but they either died or just stopped. Yugi x Tea, Joey x Mai, Ash x Serena, TK x Kari, Tai x Sora, etc. Only ships I can really think that are canon (& they're not from pure romance stories) are Nate x Katie from Yokai Watch & Kirito x Asuna from Sword Art Online. Despite SAO not ending anytime soon, the author has pretty much made Kirito & Asuna's relationship so canon to the point where he already confirmed a few times that he's planning to write their real world wedding scene when he ends the story.

Even if this scene seems too untimely, there weren't many alternatives where Toga could survive post-battle. There also was no guarantee she'd be one of the villains brought over to the new society and allowed to live the way she wished to (AFO is known for betraying and using others; keeping the word of his tool is out of character for him, as dominion is indiscriminate). In the end, this is the best outcome for her as a person and for the readers. We'll be left with a fond memory and a brute fact on what 'true love' really is. It isn't about infatuation or lust or sex, it's about self-sacrifice.

I kind of did picture Toga getting killed but in a more morbid and twisted kind of way. One was when Toga starts having a touching moment with Uraraka and Hawks coming back to stab her in the back at the worst possible timing ever, making him look like an even bigger bad guy than when he killed Twice. But this one works too and hopefully it’s not a fake out. Next up I hope we see Kurogiri and maybe an update on Aoyama’s location.

Just because the Rogues Gallery didn't kill as many people as Toga, doesn't make them any less crazy since they still attempted murder. And while she can't fully atone for what she did, the act of saving Ochako from death will prove to the other heroes how to save a life from despair like how Batman tries to do.

I'm imagining a weird series of events where Toga basically creates a feedback loop with her Quirk and her blood pump where she pumps her blood into Ochako and then back out into her, keeping them both on death's door until the end of the battle, and when someone comes to help them, there's two Ochakos. Both of them come to, and there's a horrifying realization; they both think they're the real Ochako, they both have the same memories and thought patterns, and no matter how much time passes, neither of them change back. In the end, because neither one can be confirmed to be the original, neither can be held accountable for Toga's actions, but Toga herself is effectively dead and the two Ochakos know it. There's the obvious identity crisis, but they both resolve that Toga got what she wanted in the end by giving everything she had for somebody else and becoming them in the process, and finally becoming a 'cute normal girl', so they should both honor the promise they made by being there for each other for the rest of their lives. It'd be a weird and messed up situation, but it would give the two as much of a happy ending as possible without condoning all of the horrible things Toga had done. Plus, two Ochakos.

Honestly ? I LIKED the way Ochako 'saved' Toga because it adds up a lot to the whole notion of why so many people turn into villains in the MHA verse. Empathy is something that defines Ochako a lot, so her trying to understand someone like Toga makes a lot of sense, and plays a lot on what being a hero is all about, she's pretty similar to Izuku at this. What I didn't like was... well that this scene happened only NOW. After SO MUCH has passed, after everything Toga had done I thought this was way past the "point of no return", I feel bad for her, her story is tragic, but she also had done way too much already, fallen way too much, imo it was long past the point of "feeling empathy" for her, she needed to be stopped or just straight up killed. I think it's important to always be ready to extend a hand for someone in need, be them good or bad, but after a point it becomes downright wrong to do so, when someone has done too much, you put them down, plain and simple. I simply don't think Toga was "deserving" of all that empathy whatsoever.

Himiko Toga was someone who suffered for being different and she had aways hoped to live in a world were she was accepted despite that difference and even though she was not able to achieve that fully she found in ochaco that she was accepted by one person and she died the way she lived. Being herself and their is no better way for Toga to go out. Even though I am sad my favorite character is no longer in the show she had a incredible story and being able to see her experiences in life was awsome and made (MHA) so much better.

I loved this outcome. Toga finding happiness in the world she wished to destroy although very late but she found it and sacrificed herself to keep Ochaco alive. Living the way she chooses. Also, granted it was a clone but she understood that Hawks regretted the situation with Twice. Everything wrapped up really nicely with her character here.

When Toga was looking around and seeing what she has done it reminds me the first fight between Ochako and Toga after Twice was killed so Toga wanted to find Deku or Ochako and "talk"...while during this moment Ochako does say to Toga that Actions have consequences (Ch 289 pg 13) and when Ochako told Deku that she would take care of Toga (when they were on that island) Ochako says she is living the way that is right for her as Ochako Uraraka (Ch 349 pg 8).

Honestly this is one of my favorites chapters. Their has been a lot of animes that have used talking as a way to stop people in their evil ways. And 99 of those are horse crap. But this one makes sense. Because all she wanted to do was to be accepted. In a world which didn’t think the same way as her. Think of it as if you’re the only one in the world who likes sex for example. But everyone else thinks that just crazy and etc. so each time you try and date someone and bring up being physically they leave because in this world they don’t do that. Yet you can’t help it because your body works in a way where you get attraction from that. It was natural for her to want blood, and it’s a natural instinct. Just how we have hunger or how we have natural desires. And the more you supremes something the more you want it. Kind of like the longer you wait to eat the hungrier you get. Which will cause you to act out. To just be heard. So when she finally got to be her self or finally got accepted she was able to know that the league wasn’t the only way

If she lives, I dont think it would cheapen it. There is something special if she survives and she and Ochaco's bond deepens more, and they can quite effectively call themselves blood sisters, and she and Ochaco can explore what it means to be high school girls and build a stronger friend group. Toga has always wanted a connection with someone learning that love doesn't have to be just pain, but also happiness and willingness to risk/sacrifice your life, but also...fight to live. And with Recovery girl getting on in years and Eri still being so young, Toga with her fighting skills and agility, would probably make one hell of a member of a medical crew team. And throughout the series it feels like she has some general sense the amount of blood she takes from someone to incapacitate them but not kill them. So the direct blood transfusion technique is a viable technique and is used with soldiers. Ochaco was still conscious when the transfusion started, and at the end, so the blood received is likely enough to stabilize her and not drain Toga into critical condition......Or they could both die because Toga transformed back in that last scene and they're still connected.

Yeah its inexusable that Togas parents where concerned when she started to exhibit textbook serial killer traits. If your kid is potentially killing animals and drinking their blood or on the minimum being facinated by their corpses then cleraly somthing aint right. The fact that she snapped and attacked someone and just now realized that maybe killing people might be morally wrong proves that there probably wasen't much help to begin with. While her saving one person and for once not thinking about herself does nothing to redeem her or absolve her of her multiple murders hell she is basically running away from punishment but at least its somthing. At this point Shigaraki already told his entire family and All for one that he doesent care and he basically said that even the kid Tenko part of him is a degenerate murderer who wants to destroy society and that he purpousfully used this part of himself to get ahead shows that there is pretty much zero chance that this man will change like less chance than Dabi at this point.

Okay I see the “sweetness” I guess…we saw the tragedies of the League but I thought it was more than obvious they all left “victimhood” and became actual villains🤨. Like they do know what they are doing and that they are hurting people and would continue to do it. Toga’s last act isn’t a real redemption it’s really more tragic as it proves if someone had reached out she could have been alright in the world. If society doesn’t change after this then yeah…the ball was dropped. She had more than a warped view of love she had a warped view of life,and tha fact she was so broken and messed up is exactly what makes her actions excusable she likely didn't even know what she was doing was truly bad because it was fun to her and she always followed the feelings of her own heart and that along with support from other outcasts(who may have been the wrong crowd for her) she gained a warped morality and she kinda does deserve to live unlike a lot of other villains who were fully aware of what they were doing. It's an amazing sacrifice with a grand barring on her character and the story but don't discount the fact she should be allowed to live and recover from that with a better group of frens/fami than she had.

I think it's a beautiful tragedy & the best way Toga could've died. She died well, saving someone she loves. Dhe's a villain that I find interesting. She wouldn't accept being captured & locked up even if she would get a regular visitor, even with some promise of release with a new role to play in society - some what to fit in which she was not promised - she wouldn't accept being captured & locked up / killed. From her experience, either the 'Hero's' or the commission would've sentenced her to death due to her crimes anyways. Himiko Toga was a Terrorist in a Civil War, a General in the criminal organization - as she could command troops - & had murdered several people before she was even introduced to the LoV. Her 'involvment' in "a string of blood-lettings" is the only reason they were initially interested in letting her join the group. This was not an individual it'd be easy or even recommended to save. That said, because of why she had gone down the Villain route, Uraraka still wanted to save her. She still tried, even when the attempt was clearly life threatening. If Uravity had her way, Himiko Toga would be alive & imprisoned. If Uravity had her way, though, Himiko Toga would be miserable, clinging to the hope that she may get daily visits, of a "better future". That's not what she wanted, as she had always been impatient. So Himiko Toga chose to "live, love & die" her way. At least with her *choice* she died saving the life of someone she loves, rather than taking more blood from another person. It shows growth of character on her part & Ochaco's, as Ochaco was so devastated to see her dieing beside her. That's the sad beauty part of this tragedy. What makes Himiko Toga's part of the story a Beautiful Tragedy is that her spiral into villainy was entirely preventable. We can see that; however, in the MHA universes Japan society, she was set up to fail the moment her quirk was determined to be a blood-based transformation-type quirk. The villains had a point, even as they went about changing society to make room for them all wrong. Thus Beautiful Tragedy & Yes, it was her heart yearning to be saved. She wanted understanding.

Her death was unfortunately necessary. We saw how much the general public didnt want Deku around because of the villains targetting him and how much wgggort was needed to convince them to let him stay at UA, imagine how hard it would be to keep Toga alive in any capacity insteadbof being given a death sentence. Her sacrifice to dave Uraraka will help to open the general public that much if what happened to give rise to these villains were because of what they did, instead of blaming the heroes for not saving them. Even if they change they still need to paid for their actions, toga said that even if she is not more evil she doesnt want to go to jail even if ochako would be the one that capture her, its her life and she is gonna end it the way she wants, ochako saved toga and now she is returning the favor, she can die happy knowing that someone saw her as a girl with a cute smile. After all, these are Horikoshi characters so i guess he is the one that knows what is better for them

I hope they both manage to survive. It would be great to see a Villan fully reformed. Like we had dabi and a few others who wanted to be heros and turned into villans. Then we have fence stragglers liek hawks who will do whatever it games to achieve there goals despite aligning as one side. We need villans who become heros. This might start a revolution amongst the villans to try and reform.

We're born & die equally but we do not live equally. Also i don't know if anybody realize this. But Toga's quirk is (in a way) a combination of Stains & Twices quirks. Stains quirk actives on drinking blood & the copy part of Twices quirk.

Absolutely called it. In the last video, I commented how Toga's situation and reaction to Ochiko was comparable to Crona and Maka. For those who read the Soul Eater manga, the end result is technically the same. Self-sacrifice for the one who reached out to make a difference. I guess that happens in the anime too but to a much lesser extent

Soul eater is literally my Number 2 anime of all time but there is a difference, Medusa made Crona commit crimes plus Crona was under the influence of ragnorok , no one pushed toga to commit these crimes but herself
