Yep the grains you got from threshing wheat with the thresher is used on your farm to get more wheat :P Tier 1 weapons I use battle axes. One handed, decent damage and can be used to cut wood/logs. Drying Rack is tier 2 after you build your second personal house (guild? the big building which needs 15 straps and a bunch of thatch, planks, etc). Then you can start researching higher tier. edit : I guess you found out already :p
