@@garrywallah4966 of course, but not having Van Aert really sucked the life out of most of the non-GC competitions in the race. he was in contention for two jerseys, in the breakaway most of the time _and_ competing for stage wins. with the lineup the Vuelta has for those competitions, he made a huge difference in interest on a daily basis.

Groves doesn't even know how the race played out-when the original break was caught and that a counterattack even went. Perfect sprinter! He has literally one job: to win the field sprint. It's his team's job to worry about everything else, to ensure that winning the field sprint equals winning the stage.

@@christopherdolan7330 Sorry, I couldn't even watch anymore I get so sick of seeing people falling short of reaching their goals I can't imagine how this would feel for Wout. Grooves is the best of the rest, rode a strong finish. But it's not like he has real competition left. It's the same with gc, I was happy we saw that break get so much time, and he will nearly get away with it. Nearly. At least Movistar and UAE have made it a fun grand tour, the many times Soler can die on the saddle and suddenly appear resurrected is appearing legendary.
@christopherdolan73303 ай бұрын
@@MarvinWestmaas I feel that. It's sad to see any rider crash and abandon, especially since Wout was having a perfect Vuelta prior to yesterday. It's heartbreaking. And I agree that the sprint competition at this stage of the Vuelta is very weak, but it often is at the Vuelta. My point is that Groves played the role of the sprinter perfectly today, relative to his competition.

I know you have more important and interesting things to cover with this very exciting race in Spain, but I would really appreciate some insight into Ineos Grenadiers. @@lostcosmonaut3966 "Unless you're VC I don't see how you know about his legs more than anyone else." So you don't know either, and my reasoning, that maybe VC had to catch his breath for 10 seconds could be a possibility, who knows? "Came 6th in the sprint vs Schmid 11th and Poole 12th so suggests he wasn't unable to accelerate." Some logic: just because he didn't cooperate he could reset a bit and had a sprint left. But maybe too much logic for you.

@@l.d.t.6327 I acknowledge you might be right. I'd say the attack at 16km, the fact he had the strength to bridge, the level-headedness to look over his shoulder (twice), and then the competitiveness of his sprint are signs he had something left. But you seem to have already made up your mind and believe all others to be illogical couch potatoes.
