Did you know DBZ VR VS was supposed to get a 3DO port? But of course it was cancelled and is considered lost media.
@MadPanicGaming7 күн бұрын
Was not aware of that, that could've been cool if they added some extra features
@spenserbeckerszs6 күн бұрын
I am sure someone, somewhere has it as a collector’s piece. Probably able to run it on their PC I bet. I’m willing to guess that the port was gonna probably have some sort of” Story Mode” explaining the new villain of the game. All purely speculation though. Still I believe someone who worked for 3DO is probably hiding it somewhere.

Oh wow, if that was the case, it would have been a Japanese exclusive because Dragon Ball Z didn't catch on in the US til '96.

In the early 90's, there was a side-scrolling DBZ arcade game (the title was in Japanese, I don't know its real name), where you only played as Goku. It played similar to Final Fight and Goku could gain "auras" by not moving for several seconds. It looked like it took place during the earlier part of the Majin Buu saga.

Doesn't sound familiar, can't find any record of a game like that. A bootleg maybe?

This game doesn't exist, the only beat'em up in the series was a GT game for the Game Boy Advance.

So crazy that not even Japan got a decent Dragon Ball NES platformer, imagine how awesome it could've been in the pantheon of good 8-bit platformers like Batman, Mega Man, Shatterhand, Mitsume Ga Tooru, etc. I wouldve been happy with a DBZ Mega Man clone like Darkwing Duck or Krion Conquest. Or even a cool 16-bit beat em up half as fun as TMNT or others, why didn't these type of DBZ games get made? Instead a bunch of mediocre fighting games was all they could think of until the GBA era, with those portable DBZ games I still need to play. These arcade games look cool, but I still want a DBZ 2D platformer, even now. We're many years into the retro revival with new life breathed into beat em ups with games like Shredder's Revenge and River City Girls, let's go Bandai Namco

I agree, a DBZ platformer would have been amazing. Had to wait a while for Advance Adventure.

I do at least remember reading about VR VS in game magazines, at the time the concept sounded interesting? but seems in actual practice it didn't work out so well. there really should've been a port of fighterz to the arcade though, that might be my favorite DBZ fighting game! though I am kinda partial to the SFC originals I did pick up one of em a while ago.

I couldn't get into for dbz when i was a kid. 20 minutes of heavy breathing? No thenks. I did trade a girl at school my complete vhs collection of bubblegum crisis for the broly movie. I found the movies a lot more enjoyable than the episodes.
@MadPanicGaming7 күн бұрын
True, all that filler did get annoying, dragging fights out to a ridiculous extent. The movies are much easier to watch, just a quick plot setup, introduce villain, and get to the action.
@spenserbeckerszs6 күн бұрын
Which is why “Dragonball Z Kai” exists. Chops the series WAY DOWN & gets rid of the filler. However, the downside is that you miss a lot of the other fun stuff like “Snake Way”, HFIL, Napa & Vegeta taking down a planet together & even the “Garlic Jr Arc” Whicj connects back to the “Dead Zone” movie. Eh, give & take I suppose…

Yes & while it’s fun (I own it along with a Japanese PS2 that it was made for) it’s WIDLY unbalanced. Never a fighter to be taken seriously that’s for sure.

DBZ games for famicom are not that bad, some are decent and I was able to play some of it using a bootleg famicom and an actual japanese cartridge and surprisingly I was able to finish DBZ RPG 3 attack of killer androids and the 4th one which is the Gaiden. Both are spectacular in a way where the animation is the highlight points but since its japanese you just go with the flow and you will be stuck sometimes but thanks to Neoseeker and Gamefaqs I was able to complete both lol.

I think you're kind of unfair to most of these games, but ESPECIALLY to V.R V.S which is actually a REALLY fun game if you know how to play it, and you clearly don't
@MadPanicGaming7 күн бұрын
I was very fair lol, I played these games for several hours before forming an opinion, in the case of the first two playing them both at the arcade and at home. Also, the old excuse of "this shit game is actually really good, you just suck at it" is tired and played out, VRVS is a graphically impressive game but the gameplay stops being fun after like 10 minutes, but I played it to completion anyway.
