The Dead Ringer Combo [Abuse the Nerf]

G'day all MrPaladin here.
If you are looking for a weapon set for spy that has the most interaction, look no further than the L'etranger with the Big Earner and a Dead Ringer with any sapper.
All these items interplay with each other in such a way that when you use them right you can create big game changing situations with aggressive chain stabs and escapes that are more often believed.
I took the loadout on a few maps today and found I had a great time on Banana Bay with it.

Alex Mendoza the recharge is way too harsh woth any other cloak you can pickup ammo to negate that but playing with the dead ringer would be impossible

Well, that's more a problem of the Enforcer being basically a stock reskin by this point. I really wish they swapped the damage boost into +100% against buildings, so it does 80 on each shot. At the very least give me +50% (60 damage per shot) to guarantee minies go down in two hits.

Removing the dead ringers ability to pick up ammo to replenish cloak lets us take a look at other ways to preserve and gain cloak.

I've been playing TF2 since 2012, and honestly I've never dabbled much in spy; I've always had trouble with the class. But ever since coming across this channel and watching your videos I've found myself setting out to play as spy more, and I've noticed considerable improvement with my spy game, it's helped to widen my perspective on how spy can be played. Nah, mine was medic. I was a sensible lad that wanted to make everyone have a good time. Also because I was playing on a laptop that got less than 20FPS so I couldn't do anything else for over a year.

I've played TF2 on and off for a couple years and never really used spy, sniper, or scout. But lately I've felt like something new and have been learning spy especially. It's made me question if my laptop is holding me back--something about the fine timing required for a backstab. I'm no gamer, but it does annoy me when my skill seems to plateau. It did get changed, you can read it in one of the "older" post-JI updates. They reworked the spawn.

He means that if you want to get the dead ringer back before it normally would be, you have to be agressive and pull off big earner backstabs or letranger shots, instead of scurrying off to that large ammo pack.

Mrpaladin, you can get all the way up to the spawn exit in just two jumps! All you habe to do is jump right into that pallet and it will surf you on top of it, then 1 more jump for the railing.

The l'etranger offsets the negative of the YER. You have roughly normal cloak time with it so it seems okay. Not as strong as it has been in the past, and not as strong as some other sets, but it's certainly usable.

When most people talk about the old Saharan set they include the DEAD RINGER which got the largest perk of all the cloaks with the silent decloaking. but the DR is not a part of the set.

Gosh, i sleep and miss a paladin notification... a spy must always stay alert! :p I've also seen a lot of success using spycicle when my aim is actually on point, l'etranger gains cloak anywhere you can hit anyone, so you can harass from a distance and easily regain your feign

I was using this set the day before you uploaded and realized how good it was! What a coincidence. I think it's amazing how the l'etranger also gets cloak back from building hits, kind of reverts the nerf if have good positioning so it's good that it is at least situational now. Edit: never mind it doesn't work on buildings (from the vid). I must've been shooting the engi when I used it.

It's hilarious to me how his goal for most of the first game was to sneak up and sap the sentry gun, but there was always a pyro there. So he just shoots it. Most spys forget they have a gun.

This is probably my favorite Spy loadout since I have a hard time surviving after a backstab and all the weapons focus on keeping your Dead Ringer filled with as much Feign as possible and the Big Earner helps you retreat after getting a backstab

Good idea with the Big Earner, I already put the Dead Ringer and The La' Baguette gun (I forget what it's called and only know that it's French) but never considered the Big Earner because of its health debuff (As a bad spy I feel I need all the health I can get) so thanks for the tip! as a player who used the dr and the amby pre update and had a lot of success with it. i still played with the weapons afterwards and found a few things. the new meta for the dead ringer is just to drop it instantly, as soon as it gets triggered and using thr speed to escape. even if they see you, you can still get away. the amby is still viable. no matter what people say. i have more success with it than with stock, so i guess that's just my opinion. and finally the big earner is a really good weapon overall. the speed to boost is underrated by people occasionally and you only ever notice how powerful it is once you start using it.

MrPaladin My mistake on that, but I'm pretty sure any other knife would have worked better than the big earner. The big earner was just horrible before the gunmettle update so I'm a bit uncertain as to how bad spys would use it as a crutch. I am by no means a spy main I'm just curious as to how this weapon would have ever supported a bad player, the pre-nerf spy cicle always seemed to be the go to knife for the DR.
