Oh my heart! Blimey, this song is just perfect. The banjo, the mandoline, the guitar, the chello, the lyrics and of course Nate's very special vocal - a mix of bliss! Once I've managed to move beyond enjoying the tune and all it has to offer, the lyrics sinked in. Quite simply a masterpiece.

It's about a young man having his lover dragged away by soldiers before he was beaten senselessly and she was killed; basically exactly what happened at El Mozote, where soldiers forced men and women women/children to seperate before brutalizing them both, except to my knowledge El Mozote had no survivors. He then presumably joins the opposite side of the civil war to get revenge.

My fist thought was an electric keyboard, but there are a couple slurs that I don’t think keyboards are quite capable of (in my somewhat limited understanding) My other thoughts are a slide guitar or possibly even a theramin ??
