One thing to be noted: there's a different taste to cooking with induction stoves You can only use cast iron, carbon steel and stainless steel cookware, because copper and aluminum can't run the current through them. I think the main thing is you aren't getting direct heat to the pan. The metal is vibrating, so the food cooks differently.
@Kost1cGrassnapper2 ай бұрын
AND, not to mention how much MONEY it is to buy and induction stove, that's Number 1 AND number 2 is that if your induction stove breaks down, IT IS SOOOOOOOO expensive to get it fixed.. Almost the cost of just buying a new one.. My Gas stove goes down, I can easily replace a couple components and it's fine. NOT so with induction cooking.. Maybe prices will come down in the future, but for right now, HECK NO! I can't afford to fix or buy an induction stove..

Problem with switching to induction is that its really easy for you to burn your steel cookwares on it since the heating is quick and so localized. Its great for anything involving deep frying and boiling but pan frying is a lot harder since its really hard to control the temperature
@IceykitsuneАй бұрын

In Hong Kong, where I live, 7.4 KW heat input induction hobs are more than 5 TIMES more expensive than comparable 12 KW heat input gas hobs, together with the required high power electrical wiring, many people are unable or don't want to afford such an insane cost. Yes, there are cheaper induction hobs with 2.8 or 5.6 KW heat input, but their performance will be much compromised when compared to gas hobs at the similar price point. Making cooking methods like Chinese stir fry inconvenient. In addition, most range hoods in Hong Kong draw fumes from the kitchen straight to the outdoors, so indoor air pollution is less of a problem.

How do you cut avocados? I cut them on a cutting board, rather than holding them in my hand. A simple butter knife is good enough to cut a ripe avocado, so no big kitchen knives needed. I remove the pit using a spoon or even just my fingers, and have never found it necessary to stab it with a knife. I've been enjoying avocados for breakfast for over ten years now and have never cut myself preparing them, and get actual anxiety watching people hack at the pit with large knives.

Unfortunately, the burner sizes of the induction cooktops aren't enough for large steamers
@dosadoodle2 ай бұрын
If you have compatible cookware, it shouldn't be an issue for induction. Or if it is, a standard home cooktop also wouldn't be adequate. Induction cooktops can bring a pot of water to boil much faster than gas or electric resistance heating, so they actually are doing a better job than alternatives in getting heat to the pot or pan, and by extension, the water or food in the pot or pan.

My fiance is a fine dining chef and you will never, ever convince her that electric is superior to fire. I mean we're stuck using electric where we live, and she makes do just fine, but we both grew up on proper gas ranges and to be honest I miss it. It's a lot easier to eyeball what you're doing based on the flame height than it is trying to figure out the heat intensity from glowing metal. She solves the problem with a thermometer, which I had never even considered using before in my life until we started dating. I still eyeball it, there's just a margin of error. I'm not very good at cooking anyway. Baking is a different thing entirely because the temperature is right there on the goddamn dial. Or digital thing. Honestly it should just set a temperature on the range top. I guess it doesn't work that way though.
