@@PurpleH4z3 Yes and no. Krieg has built a reputation on formally requesting that they be sent to the worst warzones the Imperium has to offer. The rank and file petition their officers who petition high command who petition the Administratum. Whether or not the Admin sends the Krieg regiments where they want to go is up to them alone, but Krieg has zero capacity for failure and having ready and willing volunteers for the worst battles means you have more flexibility with other regiments, so it's really in the Admins best interest to send Kriegers wherever they ask to go more often than it isn't. _All_ of this is assuming there isn't any Imperial politicking that will interfere with the warzone, Krieg, or the Administratum. After the War, it was Krieg that contacted the Imperium, who completely forgot the planet and thaught it actually lost. The Imperium was surprised that the Planet even still existed. 4. The VitaWomb(TM) tech (kinda an artificial womb, but more grimdark) was petitioned to hive to Krieg by the Adeptus Munitorum itself out of fear that the Krieger would exhaust their Manpower too early because of their sheer zeal to die for the Emperor. 5. The first was give Jurten and his men a final standing order to reclaim Krieg for the Imperium, and damn the costs. If they needed to destroy the entire planet to keep it in Imperial hands, they would do so. The second thing they did was send Colonel Jurten the launch codes for the massive cache of nuclear weapons underneath the hive city he had claimed. All essentials were secured in fallout bunker complexes underneath the hive, as the secessionists started bashing down the doors just in time to be caught out in a nuclear firestorm without their lead umbrellas, roughly evening the odds between the secessionists and the loyalists and ensuring that the centuries-long civil war on Krieg would be some of the most brutal trench warfare in recorded history.

The reason that I love 40k (at least the stuff before 8th edition) is its ability to take crazy concepts and make them feel believable. The setting is so detailed that things begin to feel somewhat grounded. Even when brainwashed space Germans are throwing themselves into an unavoidable meat grinder because some random ass fortress world decided to rebel.

My favorite Space Marine x Krieg story is from the Siege of Vraks where the Dark Angels heard there was a Chaos Marine there who knew of the location of some Fallen. The Dark Angels showed up, tracked the Chaos Marine, lost him, almost lost their banner and their commander, destroyed the space port that the loyalists were wanting to use for themselves, and fucked off without doing anything even remotely helpful. Oh and they sent a message to the loyalist commander saying "Space Port destroyed, mission completed".

Speaking of GW doing things that don't make sense, get this: They hired the Astartes guy, edited his videos and moved them to their official website and made him remove his videos from KZbin. They absorbed him into their soulless corporate blob and destroyed the best fan made art on the internet.
@Orapac41423 жыл бұрын

No, GW did not make him do it. He read a contract and signed a contract. He is not doing anything he does not want to do. If your going to blame anyone blame the creator of Astartes for wanting to follow his dream Also the best fan-made 40k on the net is TTS
@derekdrake87063 жыл бұрын
@@mk_gamíng0609 I think It's naive to believe GW didn't have lawyers waiting to swoop in and take something they wanted or that he even read any contracts he signed. And TTS is a parody, it's comedy. Astartes was the most accurate and epic depiction of 40k.

@@mk_gamíng0609 it’s childish to pretend GW wasn’t going to sue him off the internet if he didn’t play along and work for them. They made him an offer with a smile and a DMCA to the back of his head, just in case he’d rather stay independent. Also tts is not the best fan-made 40k- it’s the best fan-made parody of 40k. Remember that it’s a bunch of jpegs moving around like stick puppets and referencing memes. It’s fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but in terms of actually depicting part of the 40k world it cannot hold a candle to the effort creators like Sodaz and Astartes put into their animations- nor is it’s quality anywhere near the latter, either. It’s good. But it’s meant to be a parody, not a genuine homage.

Something you could have mentioned: Krieg guardsmen don't have names, as they seek death so much they consider an actual name to be a waste of time. Instead, Kriegers only have a serial number (adds to the whole depressing vibe they give to other guard regiments... hard to socialize and relate to an extreme emperor-botherer that has no identity of his own). And they don't seek just hazardous environments: they ESPECIALLY look for meat grinder battlefields and loooooong engagements, especially siege battles. Also, they seem more interested in being sent against traitors than agains Xenos, probably because of their history.

I think the real reason they were discontinued is that while there were lots of players, virtually all of them used recast or 3D printed models and didn’t buy the GW/FW kits because they’re so expensive. FW resin kits are pretty crap so the recasts are on the same level and bring the cost back towards regular (still expensive) guard armies.

If you are interested in a book that will really help put you in the shoes of a guardsman, go get yourself a copy of 'To Hell And Back' by Audie Murphy. Murphy was the star of the 1951 film version of The Red Badge of Courage, but before that he was basically the most decorated soldier in World War 2. He was awarded the Medal of Honor from the US, France, and Belgium, along with a huge list of other medals. He wrote 'To Hell And Back' about his experiences serving on the front, and even though it is about a real war it is written so well that the setting planet doesn't even matter because it's an exploration of emotion and turmoil. I highly recommend it.
