This scene was so well written and acted. You can tell that Peter already fears for the worst but he is still hopeful that she is in fact alive and just knocked out. However realization begins to creep in as the scene goes on. You see that as he is getting increasingly emotional. It then hits him when he says “no please” and starts sobbing uncontrollably. That’s when he finally realizes for sure that the love of his life is gone forever and never coming back. That on top of his acting makes this scene one of the saddest moments ever to exist in Marvel.

Most assume she died of a broken neck. Upper spinal cord injuries alone are not instantly lethal. They tend to kill via asphyxiation because the vagus nerve that controls the heart drops from the brain stream and passes through the neck generally following the path of the jugular vein and carotid artery and does NOT travel down the spinal cord so is left intact BUT the nerves that control the ribs and allow for breathing do follow travel down the cord and can be damaged in injuries to the upper spinal cord, causing respiratory muscle impairment or paralysis and loss breathing. She may also have sustained a serious concussion/TBI from the brain smacking the interior of the skull during the sudden stop and whip, which could have rendered her unconscious. Thus she was likely ALIVE but unconscious and unable to breath and suffocating during his whole "you're okay" "stay with me" speech. It takes about 3 mins to die of asphyxiation, her neck was snapped at ~ 3:00 and the clip is ~5:00 min, so we likely don't even see time of death. He might have wanted to try recue breathing instead of talking. If some one is injured and not breathing that is the right call. Then an ambulance and spinal surgery.

I will never forget my first time watching the Amazing Spider-Man 2 This scene completely changed everything in my head I'VE NEVER EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS COMING I watched it home After movie ended, I was silently walking around in my room for 5-10 minutes. Then I stopped and said: "Unbelievable" This is my favorite movie of all time I rewatch it every year Just rewatched for this 2023 year What a wonderful film, a true masterpiece! this is probably the most heartbreaking death in a spider-man movie and the worst part about this scene is Harry's version of the Green Goblin is right, he does take away Spider-Man's "hope." but this is also why I was mad that the Amazing Spider-Man 3 wasn't made because they needed another movie to tell what happened after Gwen's death and if Spider-Man and the Green Goblin fought each other again or if Peter talked to Harry even though they hate each other. there's a lot of possibilities that they could've done with the third Amazing Spider-man movie its such a bummer that it never got made.

They lost custody of me and my siblings but even talking with him now she was a wild card more than him unfortunately he couldn’t “save” her. Watching this in theaters fucked me up so much.
