Wow! This is beautiful. I’m a cradle Catholic and one of the reasons I love being Catholic is that we take care of the dying and the dead. Having a devotion to the souls in purgatory has led me to be praying for the dying, this came about because I am a member of a Mass Association that prays for the souls in Purgatory, its called Friends of the Suffering Souls(FOSS) started by Ben Forshaw in Ireland. I’m African, I live in Africa but being a member of the group and having Masses said for the souls in purgatory has really helped me have a deeper devotion to the souls in Purgatory. I have attended many non catholic funerals for friends and family members and they never pray for the soul of the deceased, prayers are for the family members who are left. When I attend the funeral service,I usually pray for the soul of the deceased. I totally agree with Kendra, there are many people who we can pray for.

Listening to Kendra is a wake up call because I realise that I pray for everyone especially my kids and grandkids and my husband is at the very bottom with a 1 or 2 quick and careless prayer. I always pray for the souls in Purgatory every day and I keep a book with names of people in my life who have passed away. I say their names b/c God gave them a name. Before I start praying and ask the holy souls in purgatory to pray for my intentions for others. Amazing video. Thank you!

Always pray for ALL the holy souls in purgatory. I saw a video in which it was Jesus who said we can pray for all the souls in purgatory and it will be the same as if each soul received the benefit of the prayer alone

@@susankovach8927 Yes, always pray for ALL souls in Purgatory. If you add specific names in addition to this it will also help those souls as well if their souls are in need of God’s help. Remember that effort matters. By taking the time to say names it will help those souls named, or if their souls are already with God in Heaven, the prayers offered up will help others in need.

For a little more than a year, I was the Administrator of two parishes north of where I live. The women's Bible study group at one of the parishes developed a great interest in learning more about Purgatory. I had the parish purchase a very good book on Purgatory, which they all read. They asked me to do a presentation and in looking for what to present, came across a video from EWTN titled Purgatory, The Forgotten Church. The video did an excellent job of presenting what we believe about Purgatory. A good part of the video is the testimony of a priest (a convert to the Church) who was called to pray for the souls in Purgatory. He shares two stories of people who died from suicide, that may provide some comfort and hope for those watching this channel who have experienced that type of loss.

I, too, lost my husband. We were both in the world and of the world. Not sure if he had a conversion on his death bed. But i did a year later, and have become prayerful for the souls in purgatory. I believe there is a particular prayer re- heroic act. Just at work atm, but will come back with the prayer when i get home.

This Heroic Act of Charity is the completely unselfish offering to God of all the satisfactory value of one's prayers and good works; plus the value of any that might be offered for one after one's death - for the benefit of the Souls in Purgatory, rather than for oneself. The "satisfactory value" of a good work is its value with regard to making up for our sins and reducing our stay in Purgatory. However, the "meritorious value" value of our good works is inalienable, i.e. our merits, which give us a right to an increase of glory in Heaven, cannot be applied to anyone else. Moreover, a person who has made the Heroic Act may still pray for himself, friends and other intentions. The Heroic Act is revocable at will and is not a vow. Its actual ratification depends on the Will of God. By making this act with purity of intention, one is relying upon the mercy of God and the prayers of the Communion of Saints to assist his soul after death. The Heroic Act was approved and encouraged by Pope Benedict XIII (1724-1730).

Here’s a formula: Heavenly Father, in union with the merits of Jesus and Mary, I offer to You for the sake of the poor souls all the satisfactory value of my works during life, as well as all that will be done for me after death. I give You my all through the hands of the Immaculate Virgin Mary that she may set free whatever souls she pleases, according to her heavenly wisdom and mother’s love for them. Recieve this offering, O God, and grant me in return an increase of Your grace. Amen.

Thank you @Alvaro and @Kendra for sharing this three part series..It took me so long to learn about praying for Holy Souls..My brother passed away in 1996 at 16yrs of age with Cancer..He visited me twice in my dreams especially in 2018 being more significant to a spiritual moment in my life where I saw my brother sad and I didn't understand about praying for Holy Souls in Purgatory until 2023 when God broke my world apart to take me a step deeper in Faith and to deliver me from mortal sin is when God's Mercy revealed that My brother, My Mother and three other members of my family were still in Purgatory...I struggled with this because I wondered how a 16yr old with barely any sins could be in Purgatory for so long but I trusted in Our Blessed Mother..Through signal graces, Mass and the Consecration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary they were delivered and since then I pray daily for Holy Souls especially the Children's Purgatory

Hugh Gillespie, Little Company of Mary, was called to complete St. Louis Marie de Montfort’s outline & he sells the book online-it’s amazing & beautiful❤️ However, one must have a disposition of no attachment to mortal sin & must understand the extent of the commitment they are making, before making the Consecration. Thank you SO much Kendra for sharing your testimony. 52 years ago I lost my first husband in a drowning accident. We had 2 children at the time and I was expecting our 2nd daughter. It bothers me to this day that we weren’t following our faith at the time. I was SO distraught and just wanted him back. I have wondered ever since about his soul. Years later i had him enrolled in perpetual masses, and i still have masses said for him on the anniversary of his passing, and pray that he is in heaven AND not suffering all this time. Sometime ago i said the Divine Mercy Chaplet for him (as if) i had said it at the moment he appeared before God when he died.

I had experiences with the deaths of my parents. My dad passed when I was 15 and he used to be a runner 🏃‍♂️ and our dogs 🐕 and other dogs would run with him at times. I was out walking one day and a man 🧍‍♂️ was running with a dog next to him and I was like that man looks a little like my dad younger. I looked back moments later and he was gone. In my grief one day I said in my head mom and I heard her respond back, “Mary!” I had her in three dreams too. She was with the Blessed Mother in two of my dream Our Lady of Guadalupe in one and Our Lady of Sorrows in another. She had many devotions to Our Lady especially rosary, Divine Office and daily Masses for years of her life. Prayers for the repose of these souls and all the holy souls. 🙏 ❤️ 💙

One of them is devoted to my kids and one to the poor souls and purgatory patron saying purgatory is Saint Nicholas of tolentino as of late I've been feeling like not much results. Also, Fr Benedict Grochel once said on EWTN that he worked w many homeless, tough men in the Bronx, that he knew should be in hell. "Pray for them anyway!" God is outside time. God knew you would pray for them & your prayer may have given them the grace to convert at the last minute. He said he continued to pray for them...

I don't know why God let me watch this video and this interview. I always pray for the Holy souls in purgatory and offer them in the daily mass. Kendra's story is exactly my story. I felt like I 'm giving an interview about what had happened to me in my life and how Jesus took over my life after my beloved husband entered into heavenly home and united with my Jesus. I went in a great disaster after my dear father and my loving husband back to back. But the Lord prepared me so well in an amazing way I can't imagine. He's controlling me with his love through my complete surrender to him. As you said Kendra, when you live with Jesus you only think about others and about their salvation. It's a joyful cross we're carrying with our Lord to save the Souls. Keep praying until we see him face to face. God bless you.

I used to think to myself when I remember the parable of the different soil and their different yields, that the perfect yield of a hundred followed was impossible. Have Masses said, especially if you can afford it Gregorian Masses (30 in a row) if not it’s 10 bucks to have a Mass said, 1 Mass is worth more than its weight in gold, even if you need to go to parishes across town or out of town the moment the name is given and put on the list that soul receives the grace, they get to heaven you have yet another Saint praying for you in your journey

Simply trust that Jesus will not let you perish…even if you offer up all your Heavenly Merits for the sake of others, just trust that He will never abandon you. He did not suffer on the cross and offer up His Holy Body and Blood to each of us throughout all these millennia just to let us fall, provided that we don’t let go. If we believe in Him and follow the path He sets before us He will save us. Not because we deserve it…but because He loves us.

How sad is this? To b married and to be a Christian and yet to not pray for your spouse? This is beyond horrible its sad. I don't care if your marriage is great or rocky u know? U gotta pray for each other period! This will grow your faith and love for each other. To forgive each other, to have more in common, to b patient with each other and to just have a peace about each other. It will hel and it is Holy..

I am not a saint but I pray for my ex husband every day , our merciful church granted an annulment and as I think about it my current loving husband I don’t pray as I should . Thank you , my husband will be prayed for double and as much as my daughter and ex husband ❤

Build something like the old YMCA and the old WYMCA where people can rent rooms and play basketball underneath and and that you know shared showers some of them with little half baths inside people are homeless elderly or homeless has some rooms has some a cafeteria with some lunches for elderly children babysit how the elderly babysit the children people are homeless people are desperate

Thank you Alvaro and Kendra for this important message. I'm on the sane page as you both when it comes to prayer. I tell those who contact our combined 2 Parish prayerline that they bless our group of prayer warriors by letting us pray for them, their families, friends, and or anyone they know in need. I found Alvaro a couple or so months ago. It's been such a blessing to hear all he shares. It's good to know Kendra is on the same mission. God bless you both🙏💝 Had to jump back on here. Alvaro the way you explained and compared how gaining riches in heaven is like it is for us here on earth. For a number of years I've thought the same. We are God's creation, we believe Jesus lives in and through us if we allow it. Why wouldn't the way life works here on earth not have similarities of life in heaven. I totally believe what you've shared about all of that. Although we know our Protestant friends would scoff at that and throw out their constant mantra to us that "its not our "works" that "earn" our Salvation. 🫤 Yet, there's scriptures that back all of it up. Including Purgatory.
