+Polish Husar A large proportion of Ireland's Polish community, while not eligible to vote, have been properly westernised since living here and supported this. Poland's economy is growing at a rapid rate - as your standard of living rises, you will cast off the oppressive shackles of religion and stop persecuting good citizens.

Alan Doherty “Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” - Gautama Buddha

It is a weird historical flip that the Republic of Ireland now seems more modern and youthful and progressive than the north. They even have dingbat young earth creationists in the north FFS. It only took a couple of decades.

Even though as a Irish man I have always had my problems with Ireland however, Ireland's positives outweigh Ireland's negatives I have always believed that Ireland can help to change the world for the better I still believe that to this very day.

I think ireland should be proud of themselves for the yes vote to gay marriage. I have very strong viewes on protection of kids however if two people are of sound age and mind and consenting adults that aren't doing anything to hurt anyone I think they should be free to love whomever they choose. To many young adults suffer with depression insecurities and even suicidal thoughts with the fear of coming out as gay to their families and friends. We have no right to tell adults who they should or shouldn't love because we wouldn't like people interfering in our relationships or our lives. 🌈 I don't have to be gay or lesbian to understand basic human decency towards other people and supporting them doesn't make you gay. It's not contagious. At the very least if you can't support them than you don't have to go out of your way to belittle them or demonize them. Mind your business.

Made a mockery of marriage.
@johnmark1506 жыл бұрын
Really Dan? Famous people like Elizabeth Taylor made a mockery of traditional marriage by getting married 8 times, and people were ok with this? Yet a gay couple in a caring, loving and committed relationship had no right to marry at all. Hypocrites. Let me give you the facts. The biggest threats to traditional marriage are from: 1) Divorce, 2) De facto relationships, 3) Wife beatings, 4) Rape and 5) Adultery. All heterosexual problems.

No, the day Ireland accepted the Catholic Church as its ruling, governing dictator was the day Ireland fell. Thankfully, the evils of that institution are finally coming to light.
