I don't think Adora knows that she is She-Ra, not the sword. Madam Raz told Maura that there was a She-Ra long before First Ones... but I don't think that message got to Adora. So Season 5 we have Adora learn that the real She-Ra was inside us the whole time.

What really made me love the Season 4 finale is how genuinely believable they crafted the outcome of the story to lead to an unsure cliffhanger for Catra and Glimmer. I genuinely don't know on this 50/50 chance whether or not Catra is going to be seeking a new chance to gain more power through Horde Prime OR if she's going to be secretly helping and protecting Glimmer. And if you were to ask me, it's curtains for Hordak at this point. He can only be a shell of his former self (which was already a shell of his former self) at this point. And oh, Scorpia. She's been hurt by maybe two people. Shadow Weaver, who we saw all of 1 ACTUAL moment of abuse... and Hordak, who actually favored her for a season before I guess tiring of her and started blaming her for everything. That's it. Total. She could have left at any point. Adora OFFERED her that, and she refused. From there, all her suffering was basically her own damn fault. No one was forcing her to stay in the Horde. SW was trying to get her to leave. Hordak didn't even care. And she slapped away the hand of the only person (Adora) who DID care, and blamed her for everything instead.
@oxfordcommaisthegreatest5 жыл бұрын
@@stevenrogers2684 "She's been hurt by maybe two people." You're phrasing it like it's some sort of competition - it doesn't matter how many people hurt you, what matters is how that abuse will impact you later in life. Besides, Shadow Weaver continuously abused her throughout her entire life. One moment? That "one moment" (which, by the way, wasn't one moment, there were many instances in which we saw her being abused by Shadow Weaver) is enough to establish their toxic relationship. She went through a huge downward spiral throughout the series. Mentally hurt people often go through vicious cycles. Catra believed that if she tried to reach out to anyone she would just be rejected over and over again, which made her seek out validation through more unhealthy means. Adora "leaving" her, Hordak's disappointment, Shadow Weaver joining the rebellion... these are all in support of her prior belief, they fuel a negative confirmation bias, which is why she constantly refuses help, instead desperately pursuing something that ultimately will never make her happy. I'm not saying that she is a good person, however. She is a horrible person and it is not wrong to hate her or to not forgive her. The downward spiral of her character is mainly caused by her own decisions. However, it's important to see just how hard it is sometimes to get your head out of your ass and make the correct choice for your own good. It's just human nature.
@stevenrogers26845 жыл бұрын
Little Dreamer Catra is the kind of character who it’s really hard to have any sympathy for because her problems really are all her fault. She’s causing and maintaining most of her own problems while simultaneously complaining about it. She wants Hordak‘a approval ...while beating him down and taking over the horde through violent erratic force. She seeks out Shadow Weaver... despite whatever elusive abuse she suffered under her besides the one instance actually shown on screen. She’s completely oblivious to the fact she treats people the exact way she doesn’t want to be treated. And... she’ll probably still get a Steven Universe, because she’s the show’s favorite.

Season 4 gave us a real interesting idea. The planet is a weapon. She-Ra and the Princesses make the weapon work. Hordak Prime wants to use the weapon. The Bad guy needs to keep the heroes alive. The weapon could be the only way to stop the bad guys. The heroes will want to use the weapon. She-Ra doesn't want to use the weapon. But The Show is called "She-Ra" So we need She-Ra to exist to have a series. But if She-Ra exists the weapon can be used. She-Ra doesn't want to exist. Im wondering how we work all that out and what end result it'll have and weather or not it'll farther build on what was started in the past incarnation of the franchise.

(Disclaimer: I know this isn't anything knew and that it has been said on this channel already in much greater detail but I thought it'd be neat to summarize their similarities anyways) The thing I loved most about this season is how it showcased that Catra isn't really a foil for Adora but a foil for Glimmer: They both are young leaders with the feeling to prove themself who tend to push people away without meaning it (at least judging from Catras expressions after doing so (though Glimmer is of course better at showing it)) who get worst when Adora stops being around them anymore and who end up almost destroying everything only for someone else to fix it for them. They also end up in the same place: Horde Primes presence (I have no doubt that was intentional). And on a minor note, they also both had Shadow Weaver prisoner yet listened to her and they both got absolutly screwed by Double Trouble. The only major difference is that Glimmer grew up in a positiv environment while Catra grew up in a negative environment with the only light being Adora.

Glimmer is acting like a normal human being going through grief and being under a lot of pressure. That doesn't make her a villain. Think about your life. How many mistakes have you made? How many bad things have you said? How many people have you unintentionally hurt? How many wrong decisions have you taken? How selfish you can be sometimes? Are you a villain? I am sure that you're are not. Give people some space, they cant be perfect all the time and you can't just expect that from them. They can be strong and they can be weak. Glimmer was weak this season. She let her fear and hurt influence her decisions. She let Shadow Weaver Manipulate her. But that doesn't make her a bad person and it sure as hell doesn't make her a villain.
@angiewinchester33845 жыл бұрын
@J R she did manipulate her. She messed with her feelings and convinced her that she was needed just to have a place at the palace and protection from the Horde. She filled her head with promises that she was going to help her be stronger than her parents. What Shadow Weaver does to, well, everyone is not right. And yes, Light Hope did get advantage of her desperation, which is still not right and can count as manipulation. Because she lied to her. She told her that The Heart of Etheria could help the rebellion when it did the opposite. Glimmer was fooled by Light Hope while blinded by her desperation. That doesn't make her the villain. It makes her another victim.
@friedpotat37984 жыл бұрын

I imagine Catra shocked that some1 in a position of Queen could criticise themselves so freely & laugh it off like it’s nothing, but at the same time makes her c the similarities in their mistakes as leaders & open up 2 the idea of admitting 2 the faults she’s made & actually trying 2 change.

@@stevenrogers2684 It's a kid show. Quirky humour is necessary to kid show, unless it's something like batman. Can you imagine a show like she-ra (with fcking speaking unicorn horse and rainbow everywhere) being completely dead-serious, plot-only dramatic all the time? That would not only be bad, that would be ridiculous. All the people who keep saying "could have been done better blablabla seems to forget that they are not the target population. Yes, the writting is sometimes a little on-the-nose and not very subtle, but guess what? Kid show always do that, that's part of the genre, you have to exxagerate and repeat plot-point and character traits in order for children to get it better, especially in a show where all episode are somewhat connected. Since children rarely do an 12 hour run through the entire series, and watch it in a very ecliptic way, you have to constantly remember them who is who and why people want to do that, or they will be completely lost about the motivation of the character. Everytime i read about stuff like that, it makes me wonder if you people have watched a lot of kid show, because let me tell you: when compared to the usual garbage tv kid-channel pull, she-ra is wayyyy at the top of things. I have seen shit man. Actual garbage. Kid show who tells you to stfu and obey your abusive parents. Apology of mindless violence. Terrible design. Braindead show, where not a single peace of a braincell was used during the whole process. Character so hatable you root for the bad guys, but for the bad reason. Rainbow-saturated show with 0 depth and a lot of terrible message hidding behind the shiny surface. Plot hole bigger than the plot itself. Compared to that, she ra is a show with cool-ok design, fleshed-out character, make-sense world, coherent plot and no actual apology of evil. In the world of children show, where a lot of creator seems to think children are just dumb monkey who only deserves to be given shit covered in ice cream, this is a masterpiece.

catra is my favorite character due to how much i can relate to her. i’ve gone through so much stuff and a bunch of trauma is weighing me down, and i’m working to get through it. scorpia and entrants are close seconds and thirds, but catra always stood out to me.

My only complaint about Season 4 is that Entrapta was absent for most of it. Objectively, I think it's actually the best season in the entire series. The way it handled Catra and Glimmer's development was masterful and it elevated Glimmer into being my second favourite character partially BECAUSE she fucked up so badly by activating the Heart of Etheria. Sparkles is a severely flawed character and I love that Season 4 had the balls to take her down a darker path than the previous seasons. Her story was the epitome of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" and ended with her bringing Horde Prime right to Etheria's front door and all but inviting him in for dinner. As for Catra, she stupidly kept pushing everybody away in what is almost certainly the most accurate portrayal of borderline personality disorder that's ever been shown in a children's TV show. The scene where Double Trouble rips her character to pieces was amazing. Somebody had to tell Catra to get her shit together and since Scorpia walked away and Adora just considered Catra to be a minor annoyance instead of the powerful villain she was in the first 3 seasons, Double Trouble was the only one who could do it. Outside of their plot purpose in Catra's character arc, Double Trouble was also an interesting character on their own. One of the reasons I love their final scene with Catra so much is because I get the feeling that, even though they were in the process of betraying her, they actually did want her to get better so they were being genuine when they said "it's for your own good, darling". Season 5 was great too but my biggest problem with it is that Catra's redemption was too rushed and she was forgiven far too easily. I think She-Ra would have benefited from one more season because they had to cram a lot into Season 5. To their credit, they handled it well considering the time restraints but if they'd been allowed to devote Season 5 entirely to space travel and then do the final war on Etheria in Season 6, they could have fleshed it out more.

One of the things I hate most about this scenario is that by being “mentored” by Shadow Weaver, Glimmer is being used and manipulated by her just as Adora, Catra, and Micah once were. All of them have been manipulated and used by Shadow Weaver at some point- some worse than others, but all affected none the less. Catra and Adora suffered many years of awful abuse and manipulation, leading Adora to feel that she needs to prove herself to everyone, and Catra becoming a cruel, toxic person that pushes everyone away to achieve her goals. Micah’s good nature, naivety, and natural talent in magic were used to help Shadow Weaver destroy many other good sorcerers. Glimmer is being emotionally manipulated so that the expectations that she’ll never be a good enough queen, will never be able to protect her people, and her grief for her mother lead her to stray away from her friends and take drastic measures to do what’s right- even though her morals have become so twisted with desperation. And Shadow Weaver is inevitably the cause of this. Someone please get rid of Shadow Weaver.

Season 5 premieres on Netflix today! I still have a lot of questions, like if Earth exists in this universe, what timeline the show takes place in, or who the "first ones" were. I'd also like it if Adora finds out what Grayskull is whenever she says "for the honor of Grayskull," although none of the He-Man characters exist in this show. Etherea is shrouded in mysteries, being an entire alien planet meant to serve no other purpose than to serve as a giant cosmic bomb intended to destroy other planets.
@taheahshahdaiah64225 жыл бұрын
Since they are back in the universe my question is are they going to visit other planets to seek help. Like what shadow weaver said last season, they spent years just fighting off just the little horde they know. With horde prime controlling different worlds I just don't see them fighting this galactic empire by themselves without outside help. Maybe there are other planets fighting the horde that could help. Probably using Mara's ship to help travel to these planets.

I also related to Glimmer being upset with Adora during the first couple of episode. Glimmer is the queen, and even though she is inexperienced, I felt that Adora as She-Ra was somewhat undermining her authority and being overprotective of Glimmer.

This season was amazing but I feel where Catra's arc felt natural Glimmer wasn't. Catar does a loooooooooooot of bad and cruel things but I have no isses to belive it comes from her character flaws, her wound/ghost from the pasts and her way of looking at the world. Whitch makes her worst decitions beased emotions make sense and fit her perfectly. I can't say so about Glimmer however although I can see what show was going for from her giref that was very well done in first half of the season to her being willing to use tatics that aren't so nice to her friends, tention between Adora and Glimer and even using Dobule Trobule...raise of her stubborness and doing things out of practically nothing but pride feels flat and almost out of nowhere. Her lack of paitiance felt forced for the sake of plot and to raise the tention but it didn't felt like it was coming from her as the character. Her choices at the end didn't felt even like she was desperate to save everyone or that it she belived it was best choice. All it mattered it was HER choice and she dimissed everything that wasn't a thumbs up. Whitch is a good Idea it just falls on its face because of execution. I feel like Glimer's arc this season needed more focus and a more screentime to give her chnage more weight and meaning.

I am 95% sure that Light Hope threw Hordak onto planet in the past, like she did with Adora. She created the situation for rising hero, with the ambitious, but not enough competent vilian(for example, if she portaled Horde Prime, he would f*ck princesses in a month). And then she used her power to show right memories to Catra for finally separating her from Adora. The whole time main vilian was rigth there, with an accurate plan for years. It's like a HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

In terms of this season overall. I really like the inner workings between all the characters. From Catra and Glimmers parallel pov's to Scorpio finally discovering herself and seeking the rebellion to finally be accepted! The one thing I will mention is the overall tension and decay of the friendship between Glimmer and Adora. I do sympathize with Glimmer a lot in the season because she is indeed under a lot of pressure. She's a queen of a nation and the leader of the rebellion. And as the leader, her primary goal is to indeed end the war. I definitely think she could've listened to Adora more on how to do this because some options were too drastic, but taking Shadow Weaver as her mentor I think as a friend Adora should've been overall more accepting and just stayed out of it. Idk... That's just my take I felt as if they both kinda did their thing and became more distant because of it. I don't want to put the blame on one person.
@stevenrogers26844 жыл бұрын
So... who or what is Grayskull? What is Eternia? Why was Adora able to read a language she didn’t know existed before? Why was it in season 1 we had a big circle of Runestone princesses, but now in season 4 it’s suddenly just 5 and She-Ra? What happened to that lizard She-Ra transformed? This never gets answered and I have more questions. Why was Micah stuck ion Beast Island when he could do magic and the island’s only real power is to bum you out? Why in the broken reality, some people faded away, while others had to be absorbed into the light? See?

It would be interesting to see an unlikely friendship & bond form between Glimmer & Catra & even more interesting when Adora perhaps starts to feel jealous of them Bo as well because as Glimmer told Adora for many years it's been just her & Bo. Bo starts to feel the same way he feels he's losing his friend to the enemy of course Double Trouble is there to as I say Loki things up.

Scorpia leaving Catra and DT calling Catra out on her bs were the best parts for me in this show. What Scorpia did was good for both her and Catra. She needed to understand that not everyone is worth your care and effort, and sometimes dealing with toxic people will only bring down your mental health and wellbeing. Other than Adora, Scorpia was the only person who acknowledged that Catra was doing what she did because of her trauma. And Scorpia tried her best to make Catra feel happy and wanted. But she had to know her limits and I was so proud of her when she left. As for Catra, she was in desparate need of a wake-up call. Up until then, Catra pushed the blame onto others whenever they left her or got tired of her attitude. When Scorpia calls her a bad friend, we see genuine regret on her face. She had spent so much time abusing Scorpia and taking advantage of her kindness, that she didn't realize how much she needed Scorpia. She needed to learn that trauma is not an excuse to be a horrible person because in that case, Scorpia and Adora would also be horrible people. As for DT's performance, it was top-tier. Up until then, people had reminded Catra of her destructive behaviour in a very vague and emotional way. In a way that didn't really seem to get to her entirely. But DT had the brains to lay out the ugly truth completely - people didn't leave Catra because they were bad, they did it because she treated them badly. She was the cause of a lot of her current sorrow, especially the way she treated Adora, Scorpia and Entrapta. I always liked DT despite them being a very morally grey character (I wouldn't say evil because they were just choosing sides that benefited them the most, whether that's good or bad) but this scene just dialed up my love for this character. Catra hearing what she needed to hear all this time was so satisfying. -even though they went ahead and ruined her redemption after that-

I'm literally only watching this because I saw DT in the thumbnail-
