It's funny how many of my personal critiques of the game's first Army General were mirrored in this playthrough. Weird lack of AA for a western unit, arty spam cancer with no counter arty in position, capping city point without actually capturing said city by killing the units occupying it, ATGM meta kills everything, etc.

You really don't need to fight with this campaign as the Russians. You legit can just move pass all NATO troops and they literally cannot stop you. Once you reach the back end of the campaign, NATO loses the ability to spawn anything at all.
