Yes the autopsy on all the Defeos showed they were not drugged.

I remember when this murder happened. It was horrific, and then the scam that followed was disgraceful. Interestingly, November 13 is the same date the students in Idaho were murdered.

I live between this house and the Gilgo Beach burial ground. I remember this, I was in 9th grade.

I saw the movie and was reading the book at the time. I was soo freaked out, I couldn't finish the book, couldn't sleep and kept thinking I saw "jodi the pigs red eyes " when a car drove by the house. Talk about traumatized! It took awhile to get over....

if you think that this is traumatizing, you gotta read the Naturals series and AGGTM. No hate, just a recomendation

My family lived in Amityville and near there. Yes, it was annoying for my mom growing up and dealing with these stories. I remember she told how as a teenager "some assholes would call up and ask 'THis THe HoUsE?'" She would just hang up on them. Also my uncle went to high school when Rod was there, but I highly doubt they hung out.

That’s what I was thinking. Although myself and my children would all sleep through something like that. We are very heavy sleepers with underlying sleep disorders.

They did. I don’t think they found anything. At least nothing they typically tested for.

@@MissAmy2913 I just find that to be the most odd thing about the murders. That would have been so LOUD you would think at least one maybe two got out of bed.I wondered if they were repositioned post mortem but I can't find any mention of that.

Okay, I grew up in a family that has been mostly military and police, so ive spent a LOT of time around guns and would like to correct a couple things: 1) it was NOT an assault rifle used in the murder, it was a lever action hunting rifle. Think less military rifle and more old western rifle 2) rifle or handgun does not determine the volume of the shot, the bullet does. A rifle using a pistol caliber will be on average quieter than the handgun using the same round 3) while not impossible, a lever action with a silencer would be wilding, as its a very older model rifle meant for civilian hunting, so its almost assured no silencer would have been used 4) despite what you see in movies, guns are LOUD even with silencers. Silencers turn the volume of a rifle from a jet engine to a sports car, theyre still going to be extremely loud. A silencer would not sufficiently explain why nobody woke up to the sound even if it was used. It is INSANE that nobody woke up to the sound of full size hunting rifle rounds, and knowing more about guns that I do it only makes that even crazier!
