Always found the main additions ended up benefiting plunder more than BR. Bunkers, eggs, the tower, was always accessible instead of being cut off by gas, and provided super entertaining fights and made matches intense. Annoying the mode gets so much hate when it's so heavily relief upon to check out all the new additions.

Evolution of verdansk pretty much just went like this...in year one nothing happened. Year 2 a crack in the ground formed, we went back in time...and then a slightly bigger crack formed. The end

Alcatraz was, correct. Rebirth follows that only in basic map design elements and structure. Rebirth follows the lore of the same island (Rebirth Island) from the original Black Ops campaign where it was a manufacturing plant for Nova 6 gas. That island was modeled after the real world counterpart of Vozrozhdeniya Island. *Technically*, it could be geographically correct because Verdansk is in the fictional country of Kastovia between the Russian Federation and Georgia while Vozrozhdeniya is in Uzbekistan. No borders are ever given for Verdansk / Kastovia so it's... possible... but still likely just creative liberties.
