Just catching up on the podcast, and you announced the youtube channel in this episode. I'll keep listening as a podcast, but as someone who doesn't really use social media (or discord) it's nice to just have a comments section to see other fans reactions. Thanks for the podcast.

I've never really gotten into Star Trek, always bounced off of it for whatever reason. But I know a decent amount about it just through popular culture and having friends who were really into it. I've loved listening to this podcast from you guys. Been following Playstation Access for years, so when I saw that the three of you had started a podcast about a topics I've been listening you talk about for years I was super excited. On the topic of shows that are Star Trek esc. I can't recommend Seth MacFarlane's The Orville more. It is probably the best love letter to Star Trek there is. It has its comedy but its not a spoof of the original shows. It touches on some very controversial topics, has some great character development for each of the crew. They are very likeable but by no means perfect. The cast does a great job of making their characters come to life. You can tell the cast were enjoying themselves when they made the show, it wasn't just for a paycheck. For a tv show that started out on Fox as just a passion project of Seth's (he is a huge Treky) its has very good effects, and the makeup and use of prosthetics is spot on. I know Rob will appreciate that being a Lord of the Rings fan.

Have you guys considered checking out the best Star Trek movie that isn't actually a Star Trek movie, Galaxy Quest?

They've mentioned it before, I'm guessing it will be a special episode one day.

I highly highly suggest The Orville. I was apprehensive because Seth McFarlane was behind it, but it is so good. The first few episodes are a bit wobbly but no different than a new show starting off. It really hits its stride at the 3/4 mark of the 1st season. Favorite "Star Trek" show after TNG

Doctor Who? I've watched the entire series with Matt Smith which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is a music theme that plays which reminded me of one of the themes in Mass Effect, and that was music to my ears. Also, the Alien movies, one of them is in my all time favourite movies. Looking forward to this especially.

Why does everyone neglect the 1963-1989 era of Doctor Who? That's the best bit.

I was also part of the wilderness generation of Doctor Who fans, unless you count Paul McGann I didn't have any Doctor Who, I was also too young when it ended, but I did watch a lot of the old episodes on VHS mostly or on TV re-runs and eventually on DVD before it came back in 2005.

One thing I've got from this podcast is that I think I may be a bigger Star Trek fan than all three of you, but possibly only just slightly more of a fan than Dave. I don't mean this as a flex, just an observation, it could be that I just have a stronger knowledge of the lore. I also have not watched every single thing that is Star Trek, I have not watched all of Discovery (stopped watching after season 3 it was doing my head in), haven't seen all of the original Animated show, haven't seen beyond season 3 of Lower Decks, haven't seen all of Strange New World's but I did see a few episodes on a flight and enjoyed them so I'm looking to watch the rest of it soon. I also haven't seen any of Star Trek Prodigy but when something is aimed at kids I tend to not pay it much attention. Everything else Star Trek however that has been televised and is part of the official canon of Star Trek I have seen, and Deep Space Nine I've seen multiple times all the way through. If this does branch out to Rob watching the TV series I look forward to it.

I've seen everything Star Trek and read an insane amount of the books as well. Discovery had an okay first season, that's is, it's shorts were the best part of it all. Strange New Worlds is mostly brilliant. Picard season 3 is pretty fun. The kids like Prodigy. Lower Decks is a great love letter to the best Trek era. The JJ trilogy is the worst thing by a long way. There's so much more, but it all falls short of Next Generation and Voyager

@@KaneA87 DS9 is my personal favourite, that could be it's more my scene I guess, all the subterfuge, diplomacy and political themes. Could also be why Undiscovered Country is my favourite movie.

I feel like you can't watch all the Star Trek movies and not watch Galaxy Quest

Genesis of the Daleks is a must. 6 25 minute episodes, though. Will you be including Alien Romulus in the Alien saga?

Weirdly I (Nath) just watched this six-parter while on holiday. Definitely interesting! Tricky for me to fully enjoy as I'm a little hung up on the production quality, and didn't see it closer to the time. But glad I watched!

@@RedshirtCinemaClub Yeah the shaky sets, laser effects and staple use of quarries definitely shout 70's. Worth it for the Davros/Doctor chats and the Doctors dilemma.

Ranking from a 43 yr old fan who has been taking his teen kids through chronological release order TOS, tos movies, TNG - and despite having competed against the height of the marvel era, my teen kids love that Star Trek above all else, tied with old Star Wars. This is my subjective take, though I can make a lengthy argument for each placement: ST:TMP 100% ST:III 98% ST:V 95% ST:II 90% ST:IV 88% ST:VI 60% I can watch it, but it makes me ‘ill and angry’ ST: Generations. 50% some things are ok but the biggest missed opportunities. ST: 47% First Contact the beginning of the end: turning Picard into action hero. ST:insurrection 46% weaker but feels more like TNG than first contact ST:nemesis 35% ST:2009 10% ST: beyond 5% ST: darkness 1% because at least Benedict is a great actor.
