The massacre was committed by members of the Irgun and Stern Gang, led by Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir, respectively, who would both go on to become prime minister of Israel. The precursor to the Israeli army, the Haganah militia, provided support to the attack on Deir Yassin with mortar fire and by disposing of the bodies. The Haganah was under the control of David Ben-Gurion, who would become Israel’s first prime minister just over a month after the massacre.

Deir Yasin was not just a civilian village. There was regular sniper fire attacking Israeli convoys on there way to Jerusalem. Like Hamas of today, they were hiding out in the village and using civilians for cover.It is true that the Irgun committed atrocities, but the Arabs also sent out false news reports, namely that women had been raped and babies killed. They have long since admitted that they put out the false news to try to rally the Palestinains and Arab world. It had the opposite effect as 750,000 "Palestinians" fled their homes.

I suggest you research in neutral sources what really happened in 1948 and not Arab propaganda. On 30.11.1947 the Arabs in British mandatory Palestine started a as they called it "war of annihilation" against the Jewish Yishuv. Later the entire Arab countries joined them. While the Jews accepted and the Yishuv leader David Ben Gurion called for regional Jewish-Arab cooperation, the Arabs in the British mandate refused and started a brutal civil war. Azzam Pasha, the General Secretary of the Arab League said "It will be a war of elimination and it will be a dangerous massacre which history will record similar to the Mongol massacre or the wars of the Crusades.” Jamal Husseini, a member of the Arab leadership said “The blood will flow like rivers in the Middle East.” Prime Minister of Iraq, Nuri al-Said, made it clear that if a Jewish state was established, “We will smash the country with our guns and obliterate every place the Jews seek shelter in."). of the 6,100 dead suffered by Jewish Yishuv in the whole war (ie more than 1 percent of the Jewish population of British mandatory Palestine, which was about 650,000), 2,500 of them were civilians, which most were massacred by Arabs in Jewish villages in the Jerusalem area that didn't have enough time to evacuate when the war broke out and after brutal siege fell to the Arabs like the Gush Etzion massacre. On May 13,1948, the village fell to the Arab local forces, then local Arabs and the Arab Legion brutally tortured and massacred 129 Jews of the village. Bodies lay in the fields for a year-and-a-half, until Jordan allowed Israel to retrieve the corpses and bury them. DURING the war more than 15,000 Jews were forced to flee from what became later known as the West Bank in order not to fall into the Arab hands and get killed, many were murdered and entire Jewish villages were massacred. When the Arabs conquered East Jerusalem after 8 months of siege, they killed the Jews in the old Jewish quarter who didn't succeed in fleeing or hiding and destroyed all the synagogues and many churches, and destroyed the very old Jewish quarter as they did in Hebron in 1929. And that's why the whole arab najba narrative is a lie. For example, the Dier Yasser so-called massacre which the entire palestinian narrative of 1948 is based on it, "forget" to remind that this village was part of the Arab corridor that brutally besieged the old Jewish quarter in Jerusalem for 8 months and from this village and nearby Arab villages they brutally attacked and massacred every convoy that tried to bring supplies to the besieged Jewish quarter including civilian and medical for example the Hadassah medical convoy massacre. on April 13, 1948, when a medical convoy, bringing medical and supplies and personnel to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus, Jerusalem, was ambushed by Arab forces. Seventy-eight Jewish doctors, nurses, students, patients, faculty members and Haganah fighters, and one British soldier were killed in the attack, including twenty three women. Dozens of unidentified bodies, burned beyond recognition, were buried in a mass grave in the Sanhedria Cemetery.

Anyway, Izrealis are "Palestinians" too, Izreal is in the territory traditionally known as "Palestine/; Modern "Palestinins" only adopted the identity in 1964 with the initial PLO charter, to be generous lets say 1948. But those initial refugees should have been rehomed like every other refugee population ever. I just watched the film Tantura last night and it was so disturbing to learn some of the details about what happened in 1948. The Israeli men over 90 years old who had been in the militia that killed so many innocent Palestinians back then - they had worked so hard with the help of the state to forget and to pretend that it had never happened. They would actually laugh when speaking about it, which was very bizarre to me. Yet these same men had been interviewed decades before and had admitted what they'd done. You cannot make truth go away because you simply decide to say it did not happen. And generation after generation of Israeli children don't learn the truth about how their country was created by taking beautiful Palestine from the Palestinians. And the Israeli children are taught that they are the chosen ones, and that they're morally superior to everyone else in the region. I heard someone say that Israel was America and Great Britain's spoiled brat child that grew into an adult sociopath, and it seems to me that this is a very accurate metaphor. You can't create a functional nation like this, built upon one lie after another. Especially when the same horrible treatment of the other people continues. The thing is, no one can keep truth buried forever.

Not really. The "palestinins" didn't exist prior to 1964. The Syrian Arbs of Palestine however, largely supported the complete jeanohside of the indigenous returning isrealis. Well, as early as WW2 when the founding father of modern Pal identity and ideology, HUsseini, allied them with Adolph and tried to bring the german camps to Palestine. That was before Izreal existed. Then they rejected the deal in 47 which would have given them 70% of the usable land. ANd Isreal invited the Arbs to become Isreali citizens, in the end only 150,000 took them up on the offer, and the vast majority left of their own volition. The Brits officially rid themselves of the Zionist problem, handing it over to the UN in 1947, and Israel became the pet project of America.

I suggest you research in neutral sources what really happened in 1948 and not Arab propaganda. On 30.11.1947 the Arabs in British mandatory Palestine started a as they called it "war of annihilation" against the Jewish Yishuv. Later the entire Arab countries joined them. While the Jews accepted and the Yishuv leader David Ben Gurion called for regional Jewish-Arab cooperation, the Arabs in the British mandate refused and started a brutal civil war. Azzam Pasha, the General Secretary of the Arab League said "It will be a war of elimination and it will be a dangerous massacre which history will record similar to the Mongol massacre or the wars of the Crusades.” Jamal Husseini, a member of the Arab leadership said “The blood will flow like rivers in the Middle East.” Prime Minister of Iraq, Nuri al-Said, made it clear that if a Jewish state was established, “We will smash the country with our guns and obliterate every place the Jews seek shelter in."). of the 6,100 dead suffered by Jewish Yishuv in the whole war (ie more than 1 percent of the Jewish population of British mandatory Palestine, which was about 650,000), 2,500 of them were civilians, which most were massacred by Arabs in Jewish villages in the Jerusalem area that didn't have enough time to evacuate when the war broke out and after brutal siege fell to the Arabs like the Gush Etzion massacre. On May 13,1948, the village fell to the Arab local forces, then local Arabs and the Arab Legion brutally tortured and massacred 129 Jews of the village. Bodies lay in the fields for a year-and-a-half, until Jordan allowed Israel to retrieve the corpses and bury them. DURING the war more than 15,000 Jews were forced to flee from what became later known as the West Bank in order not to fall into the Arab hands and get killed, many were murdered and entire Jewish villages were massacred. When the Arabs conquered East Jerusalem after 8 months of siege, they killed the Jews in the old Jewish quarter who didn't succeed in fleeing or hiding and destroyed all the synagogues and many churches, and destroyed the very old Jewish quarter as they did in Hebron in 1929. For example, the Dier Yasser so-called massacre which the entire palestinian narrative of 1948 is based on it, "forget" to remind that this village was part of the Arab corridor that brutally besieged the old Jewish quarter in Jerusalem for 8 months and from this village and nearby Arab villages they brutally attacked and massacred every convoy that tried to bring supplies to the besieged Jewish quarter including civilian and medical for example the Hadassah medical convoy massacre. on April 13, 1948, when a medical convoy, bringing medical and supplies and personnel to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus, Jerusalem, was ambushed by Arab forces. Seventy-eight Jewish doctors, nurses, students, patients, faculty members and Haganah fighters, and one British soldier were killed in the attack, including twenty three women. Dozens of unidentified bodies, burned beyond recognition, were buried in a mass grave in the Sanhedria Cemetery.

Lord, why can't people get along? As a Christian Armenian who went through war, lost our house with everything in it, native lands with no chance of even visiting graves of the loved ones... Is it me or she corroborates what was said in another documentary? The 1948 creation documentary, where a man recounts that he hid and watched as a neighbour was told by israeli fighters to throw his son in the oven and he refused and they threw the son in the oven and then killed him and threw him in the oven as well. Omg 😱 What if what she is recounting about the bakers and his son being thrown in the oven is the same event described in that other documentary by someone completely different? I am so appalled by everything im learning.
