This movie was so bad. The mom had absolutely no redeeming qualities. The acting was not bad but the story was so poor I couldn't finish it. I tapped out when Glenn Close said "Nappy p****". I would respect it more as camp or a parody.

The movie felt like it was trying to connect the horrors of black poverty and dysfunctional families to supernatural horror. It failed. It just felt like a bad family drama with a few supposedly scary moments thrown in. It was not scary. It dragged on and on and on. We've seen it all before: - It's a mixture of "The Omen," (child demonic possession) "The Exorcist" (possession, with levitating in the air), and "Evil Dead," with demons speaking aloud, "Join us, we want you." A very unremarkable movie. I'll drop a recommendation: *"The Devils," - 1971,* with Oliver Reed & Venessa Redgrave. The movie is based on a real township (in the 1700's), Loudon, France. Warning, as it has graphic portrayals of violence, sexuality and religion which ignited harsh reaction from censors and was X-rated in the UK and the USA, while being banned in many other countries, with the country of Finland lifting the ban in 2001. Upon hearing about the movie, "The Devils," I purchased the VHS tape in 1999 and watch it approx. once per-year. It's one you'll never forget.

This was a Lee Daniels movie on Netflix. I love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love watching your videos ESPESH (short for ESPECIALLY) when you hate the film 🤣 If someone sat with me and watched one of your reviews for the first time, they might say "why are you watching this guy? He's not a movie review where he's like a comedian" .."what is he abbreviate random words and then right away tell you the word he just abbreviated?.. that takes more time than just saying the word?" They are being unforgiving.. they are not understanding your style and your context. Lee Daniels is the mind that gave us the television series "Empire" on Fox.. he's two steps up from Tyler Perry.. When you watch his TV or movies you were watching for the performances.. the plot is tertiary. First is, performances and second is race. He makes his stuff to touch a particular audience. So I went into the movie knowing that it would be less than what I would want from a typical haunted House story.. I went in to watch the performances.. That is why he is getting acclaim online.. For instance, I didn't realize that was Glenn close until 25 minutes into the movie So, I understand what you are saying and technically you are correct.. but please understand the context (I spoke this into my phone so please forgive any grammatical errors I think my phone is Japanese)
