It nearly makes you cry on cue. Last Christmas, I made my grandma a garland to go around her door. Grandpa was in the later stages of dementia to where he had no idea who I was, grandma, dad, mom, anyone. He told me that I might be interested in meeting his son, my dad.

That's actually one of the saddest parts of all to me. Very often right before death, all your memories, all your family members, everything comes back in a flash, and right after, you die. It's like this disease is taunting you. Nothing was ever gone, it was just buried or locked away.

Also, how the person in stage 4 described his father is the right way to go about it. It's best to just play along with the dementia patient as it keeps them happy, help them "make up" a memory they've started talking about that you have no idea what it is. A morbid way to improve one's improv skills. :(

I saw all of these replies, and just wanted to say, you shouldn't feel rushed if you're anxious about it, especially if you're in a bad place mentally. This album does have a profound emotional effect on people, and can be really damaging if you're not ready for it. Just a word of advice, though, maybe watching a reaction or doing quiet activities while listening will help ease the stress of it just a little bit, I know that's what helped me. Anyways, best wishes, and hope that one day you can safely experience this important album 😊😊😊

I'd like you to take a look about an album that this one inspired. They called it Everywhere in the Beginning of Nowhere and it's a bit longer. But it also feels a little more personal than EATEOT. There are more trips and slips than in EATEOT which I think makes sense because it's not always just a steady decline. You trip up and everything is fine when you get back up, but each time you get up a little less.

Thank you so much for this video! I've been feeling very disturbed and distracted since listening to the Caretaker albums. Everytime I hear something that reminds me of it I feel dread but this video has brought light into it all! I've wanted to be a music therapist for a while now but can't afford it yet. The ending about how Music Therapy can help made me feel grateful that I'm a musician and that one day I can hopefully help other people! Thank you!!!

I finally got around to finishing this video (school can be annoying) and I'm so surprised that this only has around 9k views (as the time of my comment), as a commenter already stated before (and something similar I would say), this is so criminally underrated and I can tell that a lot of care was put into researching and understanding this album and its recent cultural impact. All memes aside about the album, it is a truly heartbreaking but overall wonderful experience, nobody is "edgy" for liking the album, it is genuine art made for the intent of art, everyone should appreciate what it has done and I thoroughly enjoyed watching your interpretation on the album as I have only very recently finished watching the full thing, bravo.

I've listened to this album full-way through twice (as well as one attempt ending after stage 3). A lot of the music is very beautiful and packed with emotion and specific "atmospheres" if that makes sense. My favorite stage has always been stage 3. "Drifting Time Misplaced" is my absolute favorite track from this project. It creates a very strong mental image for me: Someone standing in front of a house on fire in the dead of a cold, winter night. The house is their childhood home. All they can do is stand there and watch it burn away as they recall old, faded memories from their time living there.

I really appreciate how, for your analysis, you also interviewed a doctor and brought a pronouncedly scientific angle to EATEOT as an experience. Kudos! 💗💗💗 Who knows, maybe we can some day properly treat Alzheimer's, not just slow it down. I mean contracting HIV or developing certain forms of cancer are usually no immediate death sentences anymore, either. Of course, the HI virus won't leave your body and you still have to practice safe sex and avoid contaminated needles, and to lower your risk of cancer, you also need to avoid smoking and make healthy lifestyle choices in general, but you probably catch my drift. By exercising your memory you could also lower your risk of a memory disease developing early.

Inside Out by Odyssey is more devastating than this album a lot shorter, I feel more lonely, emptied out and bereft during Inside Out than Everywhere at the End of Time, especially as it's so beautifully sung and produced. The Caretaker made a monolithic album but I know I'd prefer to listen to Inside Out again.

1; the caretaker made one of those paintings of stages 2; this will realize in in a diffrent way that the caretaker might have died 3; when all the stages were releast as stage 1 stage 2 stage 3 stage 4 stage 5 and stage 6 4; all of these imagrys are made from the caretaker before he died 5; which also discribe as everywere at the end of time 6; all of the music will damage your brain and depreehson in these albums are just analyses in stage 1 has the first name called it's just a burning memory. the original ones by al bowly is the music that were copied by the cartaker. that's all i have to say.

Dementia aside, EATEOT is abstract and perplexing, somewhat in the way of the Codex Seraphinianus, a book of illustrations and text in some alien language. Its entire content, illustrations as well as text, is indecipherable and incomprehensible. The only thing you might get out of the Codex would be from your own imagination.
