@@Isleofskye When I say selling club that doesn’t just extend to our outgoing policy. It also reflects our recruitment policy. Under James Berylson there wasn’t a specific aim on the market, it was just about preparing a squad that could make a playoff push regardless of age or condition of that player. Jimmy wants us to adopt that Brentford model where lots of the players we sign are young and are done so with the intent to sell them 3-4 windows latter for a considerable profit so we can reinvest that money. Started with then basically tearing down the academy pathways and starting again, then the summer window with players like Ivanovic, Kelly, Azeez etc

Theres a rumour that Esse has a 12 million pound release clause for Esse, if he leaves we have a replacement in Emakhu if Harris plays him, Azeez on the left is solid reminds me of paul ifill back in the day, get as much as we can for Esse and put it wisely into the club for players, COYL

@@mjw_S61 that’s not how it works, the release fee HAS to be accepted, we don’t get a say in it. If they activate it, the player then can negotiate with the buying club and make his own mind up. There can be no bidding war as far as a transfer fee goes. They’ll all just offer the release fee then it’ll be left to whoever offers Esse the best deal.

£10 million is not enough. He is secured under contract and we don’t have to sell him at the moment. If they want him they need to be made to pay. The problem is how much will we have to pay to get as promising a replacement. We should tell Palace ‘no thanks’ come back at the end of the season if you’re still interested.

Utterly agree with you Dan. I didn’t get the Esse hype until recently either, but I’m delighted I may have been wrong. But we don’t need to sell before a play-off push. End of season, I hope he can stay either way (Prem., or Champ.). He’ll be worth more than £10m by then in any event. A separate point though (although money-wise it is never separate is it…), we have to keep Tanganga. He is the best player in the Championship. He is a £20m + player without a doubt. COYL.

he more things change...........the more they stay the same. 1960s/1970's: Gordon Hill.Alex Stepney.Keith Weller continued onwards through the decades including Chris Armstrong to Palace, Tim Cahill to Everton, Steve Morison to Norwich, Teddy Sheringham to Forest as infinitum,ad nauseum,. NOT ONCE has this sell our best players and "strength the squad" involved a following Promotion to the Highest League. Not through The 1960s or 1970s or the early/Mid-1980s (We BOUGHT players around 1986/87 ) 1990's,2000's,2010's or this decade so far. The ONLY difference is the names and faces advising us to "sell and strengthen". I know it's revolutionary but how about BUY MORE class players to add to what we have?

This Club does not want success they are happy to stay in the Championship .
